That was a silver perch aka butterfish. They are good snook bait and are apparently very good eating with sweet meat. Usually find them in numbers around the beaches or sandy areas. Cobia like them as well.
I'll be hitting it hard this weekend,I need to feel that tug! Lol. The water clarity in the IRL is really good right now,as you know. Hope to see you out on the water sometime. Tight lines brother.
Nice bright fish for the intercoastal ! I miss snook fishing the docks and having them slurp a d.o.a shrimp right out of the shadows. We used to fish the intracoastal side of Hutchinson island in fort peirce and there were some giants night fishing the mullet run , no better feeling man , like the vids!
Damn man do I miss living in Florida. I lived in Brandon, Florida outside of Tampa and I used to really LOVE to fish. I honestly have two big boxes full of rods and reels...really EXPENSIVE rods and reels. I haven't lived down there since 2000, but my entire immediate family all still live there in Plant City and Spring Hill. I used to really love to go out to Fort Desoto and go out on the Gulf Pier, and I also loved to go out on the Gulf Queen Charters. I took my wife and my two sons down there in 2019 for my parent's 50th anniversary and my buddy that still lives there and I went out on the Gulf Queen like we used to, but we didn't catch much. This was obviously before Covid. I've really been feeling it lately and I really miss home. Edit: BTW, I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania now and the fishing sucks here compared to home.
Have you fished Tomoka River at all? There's big grouper that always break my line on the coquina rocks!! Awesome fishing when the river livens up .. Great to see tarpon rolling and massive mullet jumping at times, manatee, gators and I've even spotted shark by the river grille restaurant and bridge.
Hopefully will be able to travel to the states soon ...looking forward to catching my first snook and other Florida fish ....great vids j .....THANKYOU. 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
That spot is one of my favorite snook baits here in Ponce. We call them butters lol. The other one is a sand perch not weak fish.they are good for snook and trout here too. Awesome vid bro!! Your wreckn it!
Tie your own sabiki rigs , use some eagle claw gold aberdeen hooks...size 6. I usually have great success finding bait on the channel markers. Just drop around those poles.
That baitfish was a Threadfin. Not a threadfin herring, just threadfin. I sometimes net them at the beach whenever the water is brown. Where they go when the water is clear, I have no idea. That one was bigger than anything I've ever got. If you have them in a fark bucket you can see where they get their name. Last all day in a livewell but die quickly when hooked. Only thing I ever caught with one was a huge sailcat.
@@johnbrooker6134 thanks John I’m located in north central Florida so I’m not quite sure what would have that near me. Maybe Jacksonville or crystal river ?

Hell yea bro that snook was sick. I’ve been grinding so hard to catch my first one over 40 😂 it’s gonna be awhile
Try the bridges between the wooden bumpers where the big boats go under. Watch out though, the goliaths sit under there too...

Sick vid, but I am having trouble beliving that we are on the world wide web and nobody has said a word about the baby blue short shorts with pink trim and hamburgers/sandwiches. 6:00
That’s a silver Perch if you were wondering some people here in Texas call then sand perch
I think those are white trout?? That’s what I saw someone else call em and i think that’s what they look like on google but idk lmao
What size line and leader are you using on your big rod
Exelentes capturas impresionantes saludos justin
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Hey Justin - what lb leader do you use when live baiting?
it all depends on what size gear i’m using. this video i was using 40 lb and last video i was using 30 lb.
@@justin_menendez well...I commented before I got to that part in your video when you said you're using 40lb! Haha...thanks doggie
Yesterday was the first time I had a snook on so big I had open the bail.
The mystery bait is a silver perch but me and my grandad call them sand trouts
Love your vids. Btw do you recommend that loop knot for live bait as well? I typically just use typical knots for live bait
I always use loop knots for everything.
@@justin_menendez thanks man
Is that merrit island fl
Great video! Can you tell me where you are located on the east coast of Florida? Thanks!
No
this video was dope but who is more amazed on how justin's cheek bone are more visible every single video recently. keep up the fishing but the weight loss journey looks like its going great
I want to get the sustain 5000 and I am not sure if I should get a heavy or medium heavy rod. Also, what pound braid should I put on there.
Where are you fishing from? Location?
Link for the mullet?
what happened to the spinfisher?
What reel are you using? Nice vid those are some huge snooks
spot croakers and NLBN Lil mullet.
what area of Florida is this?
Sheeesh🔥
Yo where did you get that yeti bucket lid?? 🔥 vid too
amazon, if you go into the description there is a link to find it.
@@justin_menendez thanks!!
We call em sweet trout
How do you like the Florida reel?
they sent it to me to try out so I didn’t pay for it but it’s solid. it’s not the best reel ever.
What kind of boat do you have?
gheenoe highsider
Where did you get the boat or what is it called?
It's called a Gheenoe. Look up Gheenoe customs they make lots of models.
What brand is that mullet lure ?
No Live Bait Needed
That bait is called a sand perch
Nobody puts ruler they tell you how big . Lol
It’s a sugar trout...
