I know I’ve said this a few times but this channel really scratches an itch nobody else does. It’s got the bad driving and other crowd pleasing stuff, but it blows other channels out of the water with the learning focus and professional-but-warm presentation. If you find you’ve mistaken your vocation Ashley may I suggest you missed one as a broadcaster!!
Yes, exactly. I introduced Ashley's advice to plan your space like it is a resource at work and what you do then. Some people are found staring like "oh i never considered it this way". Or ease tailgating off by giving more room in case you have to slow down etc. And it's like he says, pity the people, do not laugh at them. We all get impatient some time, but it is how we deal with it. Others are not (always) at fault.
@@heros2110 try telling that to I-Spy-Idiots channel who is self righteous and very very egoist. He insists that on motorways a car from a slip road has priority to enter the motorway. ie cars on motorway should brake to let him in!!!!!!!!
10:14 in that situation, I would always use my horn. I know it may be seen by the person who is going through on red as a telling off but I would use my horn to both alert them but also other road users. If someone looked my way due to my use of the horn, they are more likely to see the car that’s jumping the lights and be ready to take evasive action if necessary.
It amazes me how many people with signwritten vans/ cars etc drive so poorly when they can be so easily identified, especially when it's a small business or sole trader
Really like these vids. A lot of uk dashcam channels just seem to be full of drivers who always seem to be able to find their horn before their brakes. Nice to hear someone acknowledge that other drivers can make mistakes and that the key is constant hazard perception and anticipation rather than just pure raging when someone does something you don't like
What is it with Delta taxis in Liverpool, if someone from the licensing department see's these videos of yours Ashley they should call each of there drivers in for retraining possibly with a driving instructor like your self. Now there is an idea for a new series on this channel. Ashley's delta retraining program.
That pickup was on the motorway for all of 30 seconds and almost caused a 4-car collision. All that just to get ahead of 6 cars and maybe save 10 seconds. What a pillock.
Had exact same happen to me on M5 last week, guy decides from lane 3 to exit. Except I was already passing the exit, in lane 1, had to attempt an emergency stop as I was the car he went right in front of. Learned my car automatically puts hazards on when doing so at 70mph.
That one is the Birmingham special to me. My first few thousand motorway miles were all via the M42 towards Derbyshire and onwards and I used to get (almost exclusively) German sportscars come out of say J4 or J5 across 4 lanes of traffic, break the smart motorway speed limit considerably, and duck back in at 5 or 6. Figured they were drug dealers, county lines etc with incorrect plates just out on their rounds. Might be giving Brum a bad rap but... come on. That level of disrespect has to be a sign of something else going on, right?
@@tif.89 Funnily enough I think it was the M5 I discovered the hazard light thing. Outside lane went from full speed to standstill with no warning, fortunately I had a good gap to the car in front or I’d have been in trouble
@@Mikeb1001 this is precisely why I always make sure I do have a gap. Wouldn't mind, but I was down that way for a skydive that they cancelled 200 miles in to the journey
I am seeing this more and more every day whilst out with my pupils, things like turning right on a roundabout and having someone come alongside you on the left lane it's getting worse.
Zero time for anyone using a phone while driving unless you are on the phone to emergency services in a life threatening situation like being followed. Is it worth checking your feed or calls and risk killing killing someone and ruining many lives for your selfish needs?
Even in an emergency, 90%+ of us have smartphones with a speaker meaning you can drive and have the phone on a seat while you deal with the emergency. Holding the phone and using it to text or browse should be an instant ban and significant fine as there is no need.
Set up a hands free system in your car and set the phone in it before you set off, It really is simple as that! Don't text or use social media, Only phones calls if you need to. Police can still pull you over though if they feel you are being distracted even with hands free, But why should you be? Any more than if you are talking to someone in the car.. Everyone does that! Just be sensible when in conversation on the road.
@@danimayb Difference in talking to someone on the phone hands free compared to speaking to someone physically in the car with you. The person on the phone isn't aware of your surroundings whereas someone physically in the car is. Talking is a distraction either way but at least talking with someone travelling with you is also likely to be aware of whats going on.
Don't comment often, but these videos are excellent educational tools. I've been driving for 37 years and I still think I can learn new things. Thanks for the effort involved and thanks for making me think about a few things.
Watched another video of your from a while ago today and must say I'm impressed with your ever increasing production quality. Great stuff (not some these drivers, mind) 👍
I live on the corner of a relatively busy junction in the town I'm in. No exaggeration, I could be looking out my front living room window for about 30 seconds and every time I would see someone either eating, texting, talking on the phone, and/or distracted by something/someone in the vehicle whist driving. Seeing this video (and some of your other similar videos) basically replicates what I see on daily basis. It's actually quite frightening that so many people do not see (or care about) the potential risks they take. It's simply why there next to be motor license resits every 10 years. It will help reiterate the importance of road safety to those who have held a licence for decades, as well as mitigate the amount of truly dangerous drivers from being on the roads.
Not had an overtaking motorcycle yet on my lessons, but I did come across a turning long vehicle in today’s lesson at a cross junction that featured on one of your earlier clips. I held back two car lengths from the white line to help the trucker turn without impeding him, I got a pat on the back and was asked where I had learned it from which I replied Ashley Neal on RUclips. Your clips have helped no end
Another great video Ashley. As an ex motorcycle instructor, I often recall the first and best advice I ever received at seventeen years old whilst learning to ride on the road, was to assume every driver you come across will try to kill you. Sounds extreme doesn't it? But if you've spent enough time on a motorbike or cycled you will understand that comment. I'm not saying it's intentional, but with that mindset locked and loaded so to speak, you are more aware of what's going on around you and can often preempt a dangerous situation before it happens.
2 lane road (+1 for turning) in the city. Truck parked in one lane, I'm passing it with my bike on the sidewalk (where it's allowed and wide enough). Right before passing I slowed down a little just to be more careful. Didn't really have anything to do with the car passing the truck on the opposite side. Right after passing the truck he went over the sidewalk into a parking lot. Without slowing down. If I didn't held back out of instinct he could have hit me, which I think would have ended quite bad for me.
You only start learning to drive after you pass your test. Stay safe everybody. Even if Ashley's videos make you 1% more wary of other road users, they are worth watching as it might save your life. He offers free professional insight into fails. I was only at a funeral yesterday, it made me think that if you make one stupid decision while driving, it ruins the life of your family and demolishes your friends. I believe you can have fun in your car when it's safe to (as otherwise what's the point of owning a nice car), like a country road where you can see all the way to the end with no junctions, but not where other people are involved.
Switch island coming the way you came is always a challenge, well done to your learner driver. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only person slowing down to 50 then 40, I've been tailgated so many times there, it's often tough not to be pushed forwards by impatient people
"hope for the best, but prepare for the worst." words to live by. I do like that UK lights have an amber phase going from red to green, we don't have that in the states, and I think if we did, we'd have more people jumping the green. also, that white pickup was driving like an American. magnetized to what, to a yank, is the inside lane, despite that they could have just stayed in the outside lane since they were taking the off ramp immediately after the on ramp they entered from.
Probably also has to do with car transmissions, the US largely uses automatic while the UK largely uses manual transmissions, and a red-yellow overlap phase before going green lets manual drivers get their cars in gear before moving. Funnily enough, parts of the US used to have a red-yellow phase. Back in the early days of traffic signals, before the indications and operations got standardized, a yellow was most often used to indicate that the light was about to change from red or green to the other indication, so you'd often get a red/yellow overlap and/or green/yellow overlap at the last few seconds of a phase. Some early traffic signals as well, such as the 3-bulb Darley 4-way signals would have to operate this way, due to the nature of their design. When one of the early MUTCDs standardized the placement, colors, and operations, this largely got phased-out, though Massachusetts kept a red/yellow phase around for much longer, though only as an indication that it was safe for pedestrians to cross in all directions at an intersection. It was still basically a red light for drivers.
You have the M25. I have the M42 and the M6. On the opposite end of the stupidity scale. Try overtaking lorries in lanes 2 and 3 of the M1. I've only ever used it twice. Many drivers prefer to tailgate you rather than using lane 4 to overtake you.
Was in a Delta cab last week in town (bottom of Paradise Street) went through junction, bus waiting at the LH side beeped, driver “cursed him” “what’s your problem” me to myself “wtf you just gone through a red, two seconds late!” Fortunately I was getting out up the road. Also had a car from the right, at that mini round-a-bout on Aintree Lane overtake me on the island too.
I love watching your videos and although I have been driving over 45 years I am definitely learning and making better observations to make myself a better driver on the road.please keep up with the brilliant learning videos as you have shown it is a constant learning curve
Ashley I love your driving fail videos, as a relatively new Bus driver I am reminded on a daily basis, just how bad some drivers are, I have had to sit and pass 3 exams and 2 practical test to gain a bus drivers licence. Only once I started driving a vehicle in excess off 40 feet and a weight on average 23 tons did I realise I have to think for the majority of road users, not just myself. what worries me is the driver sits forward of the chassis and the crumple zone is the drivers knees.
Nice learning point with the motorcycle. We should always check mirrors and sideways glance before any change in speed, braking or accelerating. The motorcyclist seems to have read the roadcraft book too as they sat nicely in the following position, waited for the solid white line on their side of the road to end, didn't sweep past the rear corner but moved out nicely where they had a good view and could be seen in the door mirror then went for it. No indicator pulling back in required as that is the expected thing for them to do. I think it was nice overtake for both parties.
@@seankearney6915 mihai is obviously correct but I would not have turned my head in this case I would have kept my head facing forward, I'm not just trying to be clever here but with many years of experience I don't think it is always necessary to crank your head around ie if there was someone in his blind spot they would have got taken out in a head on collision by the oncoming car, the bikes mirror would have probably given enough field of view in this clip. I do the lifesaver most of the time but not always and I constantly check my mirrors. I didn't spot the bare hands either but I wasn't really looking for it I was just watching the driving, mihai certainly has an eagle eye! From what I could see I think this biker was spot on.
13:44 Very important lesson. Due to the nature of the roads in the UK, British drivers are not very used to overtaking or being overtaken. There are lots of situations in which people being overtaken accelerate, and then they're the ones all annoyed, despite Highway Code Rule 168.
@@stephenhill8790 Some people have CDUSL (compulsively driving under the speed limit) and AODLSOSL (accelerating on dotted lines, slow on solid lines). None of us should be telling other drivers what to do. We are not the police. I too drive pretty briskly, but when someone wants to overtake me I back off and let them go. I have no interest in either having an annoyed restless ricer boy riding my rear bumper, or in fighting on narrow twisty ways with someone overtaking me.
@@stephenhill8790 Don't forget CBO - can't be overtaken. I've seen drivers in my rear view mirror flashing their lights and doing their nut because I've passed them without incident. Some drivers seem to believe that overtaking is a criminal offence. I don't overtake much on single carriageway roads but I will if it's necessary.

The straight over is past 12 O'clock, therefore right turn, unless road marking/signage dictates otherwise. The biggest thing about that clip for me is that the BMW went around even though the cam car could have been going all the way around!
I've only been driving about 6 years now, and the motorway sometimes freaks me out when it's super busy. I'm content to stay in my lane, only change when I really need to and don't ram it down the outside lane. It scares the living daylights out of me when I see some of this driving ESPECIALLY with mobile phones in hand - a danger lying in wait. I've recently started watching your Driving Fail videos because they are really good, for all some of the driving on show gives me the fear!
Great video again, and it's reassuring to read the comments from what is no doubt just a small sample of millions of good safe drivers. About 12:07 you say that correctly going round a mini-roundabout can cause another driver to drive recklessly like the one in the clip. I doubt if that's quite what you meant. Certainly, it provides the opportunity, and the slight delay might trigger the driver behind, but how we drive never causes what other drivers do. We can only take responsibility for our own driving. This might be argued over and I'm not putting it out here as fact but as a place to stand - the place where in my reckoning your channel does stand.

I find that some of the drivers today once having passed their test appear to forget everything they were taught and throw the rule book out of the window. I advised my daughter while she was driving of the speed limit we were in and the response was "no one drives at the speed limit anymore ". Says it all and the road we were in was of a lower speed due to schools nearby and some of the worst offenders are the parents taking their children to school who take risks despite their little ones in the car. Makes me wonder what the future drivers will be like.
I haven’t even started watching this video and you said delta private hire. I’ve been in one of there taxis once when I used to work in Liverpool and it was once too many. Never again. Looking forward to this.
I used to asses taxi drivers for Nottingham council. Everyone failed a my first assessment, most would of failed a driving test in the first 5 yards. In Nottingham taxi drivers had to pass a taxi test set up by the then DSA. My job as a fleet trainer/ coach was to assess then assist with the driving exam. Most refused my training offer, an hour or so at £35 an hour. I told the drivers none of you will pass without further training, I was correct, none did, so it cost them another re- test plus another hour or so with me to get them ready. I don’t think they do this anymore, not sure as I’m not involved in driver training or rehabilitation concerning rogue drivers! I did speed awareness courses for councils too.
Ashley , playing Devil's Advocate here - Clip 5 - why were you out in lane two when lane one is empty ? The whole situation would never have arisen if you'd been in lane one ? I did note that later on lane one became an exit lane , but where the Jag caught up it was still just an ordinary lane for quite some distance ....
Did you miss the sign telling road users the appropriate lane for their direction of travel or were you ignoring it? There is actually another exactly the same at the mile marker before the clip starts.
Not sure if you can still do it, but you used to be able to book your driving test out of town, choose the most rural location you can, out of rush hour times, and your test is 10x easier. I spent 90% of mine driving on empty country roads, a 2 minute drive through a small town, reversed one corner, and a 3 point turn on a wide quiet road, test passed first time with 3 minors for failing to check mirrors. The biggest problem with driving in a city or big town is other drivers, just one mistake from them can be a fail for you, you are also more likely to become flustered if you are stuck in traffic or hold people up, i think there are also extra requirements for parking, this may have changed now though, been 16 years since i passed mine. Also talk as much as you can without distracting yourself, there may be minor things the examiner misses which might get you a fault.
If you think of every other driver as either dangerously incompetent or actively malicious, you can avoid a lot of hassle. Trust noone, and keep enough space and you'll generally be fine.

@ 7:33 - what about the Astra, parked on the kerb behind the dustcart? Admittedly parked, but nevertheless facing in the wrong direction. Could it also be a case of bad signage (absolutely not condoning the dustcart driver being on the phone...)
Any chance that you can forward these incidents to the local constabulary. Some forces do a great job in prosecuting the perpetrators with extra training and the odd fine or points.
@@phillipsiviter2024 Perhaps he should extend that good sense to buying himself a pair of gloves; then if he does stack it into an oncoming car, at least his hands will be ok. ...but then I suspect that would be the least of his worries at that point!
@@laurencebraithwaite5753 Legally, only a helmet is required. Plus, I don't think that helmet is his anyway, doesn't look like it fits him properly. My guess is that he's borrowed gear to do a CBT
Interesting point about the use of the horn to help rather than tell off. At the moment I drive and cycle in Kyrgyzstan, where I had to get used to a culture where the horn is more often used to warn rather than to reprimand. Sometimes still though I'm on my bike and someone beeps me, and I have to remind myself it's usually not out of aggression. When driving now in this country I now often use a short beep when I suspect somebody is in danger of pulling out on me , which happens often.
On one of my videos I beeped to warn a Merc that they were about to run a red light. Had a couple of numpties saying I was using the horn illegally out of FURY. Some people eh. I wish my car had a courtesy horn. Beep beep instead of *BLAR* .
Most of them need lessons themselves, recently saw a traffic car (who are supposed to be advanced/specialist) reversing up the hard shoulder of a motorway
I also feel that the lane for their intended destination was taken much earlier than it should have been. Even if I am travelling right on the speed limit I do my best to keep left until I need to select the correct lane. The road markings help but different road and traffic conditions call for different actions. A really challenging case of finding the correct lane is as the M4 (junction 20, West-bound) crosses the M5. Traffic here is typically on the heavy side and often with one or two lanes (of the 5 lanes?) moving much slower than other lanes. I don't blame folk in that situation from doing the best to select their lane early and stick to it.
The first sign we see says the split is half a mile ahead. You can be pretty certain there was one just before the clip started, probably at the one mile mark. So he was just picking the appropriate lane. Do that 20 miles before your junction, sure - it would be silly / selfish / lane hogging. But not one mile. Think of the alternative... everyone stays in the lane most appropriate to their speed, and then lane swap all at the same in the last quarter mile (18 seconds) to get into the right lane for their destination. It would be carnage!
I've had that so often on mini roundabouts. I am going straight ahead so don't signal. I move to the left to go around the roundabout and the vehicle behind thinks I'm turning left and overtakes on my right
The truly saddening thing about that truck exiting the M40 to the A452 from lane 3 is that not only is it almost impossible to get out and back into another lane in the short distance between the two junctions, as indeed is demonstrated, but it is never really necessary to leave lane 1 in the first place. Enter on lane 1; stay in lane 1 for all of 10 seconds; leave from lane 1. In my experience of that very stretch of the M40, the traffic is never going slowly in lane 1 there, and it's over that quickly. That was an utterly pointless manoeuvre. But then crossing the hatch markings coming down the slip road was an indicator of not very good driving.
Pity I just changed cars and forgot about my dashcam otherwise I'd have had a good one for you. Driving through the Queensway (A38) tunnels in Birmingham city centre after the A38M. Speed limit 30 mph. The first one is particularly dangerous with a sharp bend just beyond the entrance. The left hand lane is marked for exits to a number of roads on the left. Only the right hand lane is designated for through traffic until the final tunnel. I was tailgated by a police van flashing his headlights but no blues and twos.

I remember the first (and only) time I went the wrong way down a one-way street. It was dark, and it was only one-way due to tramway construction (it is two-way again nowadays). It was dark and in an area of town I hadn't really driven through before, right across from an intersection. The signage wasn't great, and I had missed it until I saw oncoming cars in my lane. At that point, I did the only thing I could and found a place close to the ledge where the tramway was being built and waited for them to pass, and then I turned around, and went the right way. I was pretty scared as it happened though. I think I had tunnel-visioned at the traffic light.
Another fail. I've just been around to our local post box. A learner was slowly negotiation a roundabout, followed much too closely by a plonker. As soon as the learner excited the roundabout, plonker accelerated past him at great velocity. It's dark & plonker made no allowance for anything that might have been in the murk ahead. And our residential roads in Wales are limited to 20.
1:40 That section of motorway is litteraly 2mins from my house. The white pickup got on at the M40 south bound at j15 and got off at j14. Both junctions are each side of the River Avon. Drivers are always doing that (but not as bad as white pickup man) as the junctions are so close together and drivers not expecting them to be so close together. I tried making out the name on the side of it but can't.
10:14 Ashley isn't horn use only for alerting other drivers of your presence. The driver had already begun applying the brakes before you hooted. Was it appropriate?

Yes! I had been thinking about this! Especially when you see so many cammers in the wrong and they think they are in the right, I would assume Ashley gets less stuff like that sent to him because he's a driving instructor.
8:11 as someone who is studying to drive HGVs it angers me to see drivers in lorries on their phone. The amount of studying and knowledge and emphasis on road safety needed. It completely baffles me.
@@ashley_neal I thought displaying 'L' plates were not allowed on the motorway. I've just noticed the law changed in 2018... 😊 Also just noticed that if there is no learner present in the vehicle, it remains illegal...
Driving at lunch today I joined a new road at a roundabout just in time to see a BMW coming towards me on my side as he overtook an entire queue of traffic. I held back, fixed his mistake and thought of Ashley :D
The worst thing I've ever seen on the road was a taxi trying to do a 3 point turn on a dual carriageway, with a central reservation and a crash barrier separating the traffic. while laying in bed trying to sleep, I still wonder where he was trying to get to and how...
Someone in my town got into a real nasty accident pulling the same dumb move. The excuse? He had missed the turning for the fuel station and because he was extremely low on fuel he decided to turn around and travel back the wrong way up the duel carriageway. The consequence? Killed his kid and permanently disabled his wife. A 100% avoidable tragedy.
Last week I was following behind a slow moving taxi on an A road with a queue behind him. The guy then pulled over on the right hand lane (into oncoming traffic) to let everyone behind him past. Which then meant oncoming cars had to stop/swerve. It was on a corner as well.
We also need to remember that dash cams are wide angled and objects also look significantly further away than they actually are. Yes breaking in most situations is the safest option but not all.
I don't normally watch these videos but it popped up. At 12:35 you instructed your pupil to indicate left to leave the Mini Roundabout. I've been under the impression since I learnt to ride myself (6 years ago) that you don't indicate in that fashion on a Mini. You do on a larger roundabout (indicated by the triangular white sign) but on a mini (blue roundel) you only indicate left to go left, right to go right and not at all to go straight over. I can understand indicating right as the exit you took was to the right of the entrance (due to the road curving left slightly) but then indicating left back off? That to me is wrong and something I get annoyed about other people doing as it goes against what I was taught.
Re. clip #17, I once had a biker following me through a village so I didn't speed up afterwards thinking he'd pass. He didn't pass me, so were both doing 40 on a clear road for several seconds for no good reason! At least I tried! :)
Thank you, as a biker, if I'm behind a car doing 30/40 through a village, that's fine, then national speed limit once through, I think it's much safer to nip ahead at that point while the car is at 40. Obviously if it's clear and safe to do so.
If it was a learner bike or a 125 or 250 in general it probably isnt fast enough to safely overtake at 40. I know my 125 was only quick up to about 35 before slowly crawling up to about 60 flat out.
For Clip#5 (starting around 3:35) why do you have your learner in the middle lane so early? The Jag did an awful undertaking manoeuvre, but you were in the middle lane for a solid minute from the beginning of the clip (and I'd guess for a bit before then too?) until getting to the point that you need to actually change lanes. Surely if you'd have been on the left, the entire thing would have been avoided and you could have then moved to the middle lane for Formby?
@@ashley_neal I neither missed nor ignored them. They are there to inform you what the lanes are to become, not to dictate that you should be in that lane immediately, similar to a lane being closed 1 mile ahead - you don't move across to the open lane immediately, do you?. You're on the M57 from the look of things and I would assume you moved over to the middle shortly before the start of the clip. The fact remains that the car was in the middle lane of the motorway, when lane 1 was clear, for a full minute before moving to the 40 limit, which is where (in my mind) you should be getting in to the lane that you want. Had you been in lane 1, the cars behind wouldn't have been inconvenienced by you and the jag wouldn't have undertook you. The poor driving is still the jag's (im in no way trying to absolve that bad driving), and it seems that your learner is probably still a bit on the new side, but it seems appropriate to teach him timing and what can happen if you do things very early, even if it's something that you "can" do.
You should get in lane appropriate to the traffic conditions. The later you leave it the more risk there is as many people ignore the limit changes. Do the right thing and don't appease people doing the wrong thing (but look out for them).
Since when did 1 mile / 1 minute before your junction become an unacceptable time to be in the correct lane for your destination? I get 10 miles out... but 1 mile? Seriously? What are you suppose to do, all merge in the last 15 seconds? That'd go well...
Clip 8 - I once 'almost' went the wrong way down a one way street . I was 17 , not long passed my driving test , and still at school . We had an outing to Stirling University to look at courses being offered and I took a few classmates along . I turned into a street that had been two-way the week before , this was on a Monday morning and it was the first day of it being a one way street ( the opposite way to which i was going ) - I turned right , and clocked the 'no entry' signs as I turned , and jammed on my brakes . There was a traffic warden standing there , grinning . I apologised and said it was OK last week . we had a bit of banter and he guided me back out . No mobile phones back in 1975 ! Of course it was my fault .
The L car was not in truckers blind spot at beginning of video. Unless he suffers from Alzheimer's he should remember where the car was even if the student was in his blind spot.

Yes, the trucker shouldn't have any issues recalling where they are, but an instructor shouldn't be making that mistake to begin with. You don't see Ashley driving up the side of trucks like that do you? All instructors are trained to pass the same advanced knowledge tests to become qualified instructors so there's no reason this instructor shouldn't also know you shouldn't do that as it unnecessarily increases risk. Although they're already demonstrating a flawed attitude to road safety by tailgating to begin with, I'm just pointing it out as advanced drivers should be held to the advanced level they were trained to and clearly capable of driving at in order to be a qualified instructor/police officer/IAM member/etc.
If you have any spare time you really should send the clips you capture to your local police force. The guy in the BMW driving on a road like that with his child in the car needs a good talking too @ 12:20

@@RichO1701e I forgot the police don't have access to RUclips. They'll never see it here. No difference as far as I'm concerned, but sending direct just gets it too them quicker.
If Merseyside Police are anything like my local force, they'll respond by rolling their eyes and making it clear that telling drivers off for aggressive and dangerous driving is not part of their job these days. They're generally only interested AFTER the driver has caused a fatality and they need to put evidence together to get the driver convicted for causing death by dangerous driving.
I remember on a chicane I had right of way. Just as I was about to go move off, the driver on the other side of it, started moving. I couldn’t believe it we went almost head on. The worst thing was the lady on the other side started swearing and insisted that she was in the right. Unbelievable

Reference motorbike, last clip. Had to back off the gas to let an overtaking car in before they ran out of space earlier in the week. Thing is, they had plenty of time to do the overtake beforehand but didn’t bother until it was too late.
8:06 you know for me its not just the bin lorry in that clip. Look at the width of that street and look further down, 2 vehicles parked on the pavement, one also facing the wrong way......

About the tailgating 'driving instructor': Do you really think it was a driving instructor driving that car? 2 weeks ago I had a crash in my city: A learner car drove into the water due to a technical failure. The driver was a friend of the driving instructor. I don't think a driving instructeur would wave at another learner car to hurry up. O well, a really bad one might do that. I don't know how the regulations about the L on the car are in the UK, maybe you can explain that? Or do you already have a video about that?
Driving instructor wouldn't teach a pupil to do that as they'd fail the test. If you are teaching say your kid to drive, you put L plates on, you don't have a professional logo on the roof
Interestingly, there is only a suggestion L plates be removed from the vehicle when "not being driven by a learner (except on driving school vehicles).” 🤨

I know I’ve said this a few times but this channel really scratches an itch nobody else does. It’s got the bad driving and other crowd pleasing stuff, but it blows other channels out of the water with the learning focus and professional-but-warm presentation. Yes, exactly. I introduced Ashley's advice to plan your space like it is a resource at work and what you do then. Some people are found staring like "oh i never considered it this way". Or ease tailgating off by giving more room in case you have to slow down etc. And it's like he says, pity the people, do not laugh at them. We all get impatient some time, but it is how we deal with it. Others are not (always) at fault.

10:14 in that situation, I would always use my horn. I know it may be seen by the person who is going through on red as a telling off but I would use my horn to both alert them but also other road users. If someone looked my way due to my use of the horn, they are more likely to see the car that’s jumping the lights and be ready to take evasive action if necessary.
Sound it several times, a good variation of high and low pitch sound

Really like these vids. A lot of uk dashcam channels just seem to be full of drivers who always seem to be able to find their horn before their brakes. Nice to hear someone acknowledge that other drivers can make mistakes and that the key is constant hazard perception and anticipation rather than just pure raging when someone does something you don't like
What is it with Delta taxis in Liverpool, if someone from the licensing department see's these videos of yours Ashley they should call each of there drivers in for retraining possibly with a driving instructor like your self. That pickup was on the motorway for all of 30 seconds and almost caused a 4-car collision. All that just to get ahead of 6 cars and maybe save 10 seconds. What a pillock.
Had exact same happen to me on M5 last week, guy decides from lane 3 to exit. Except I was already passing the exit, in lane 1, had to attempt an emergency stop as I was the car he went right in front of. Learned my car automatically puts hazards on when doing so at 70mph.
That one is the Birmingham special to me. My first few thousand motorway miles were all via the M42 towards Derbyshire and onwards and I used to get (almost exclusively) German sportscars come out of say J4 or J5 across 4 lanes of traffic, break the smart motorway speed limit considerably, and duck back in at 5 or 6. Figured they were drug dealers, county lines etc with incorrect plates just out on their rounds. Might be giving Brum a bad rap but... come on. That level of disrespect has to be a sign of something else going on, right?

I am seeing this more and more every day whilst out with my pupils, things like turning right on a roundabout and having someone come alongside you on the left lane it's getting worse.
Zero time for anyone using a phone while driving unless you are on the phone to emergency services in a life threatening situation like being followed. Is it worth checking your feed or calls and risk killing killing someone and ruining many lives for your selfish needs?

Even in an emergency, 90%+ of us have smartphones with a speaker meaning you can drive and have the phone on a seat while you deal with the emergency. Holding the phone and using it to text or browse should be an instant ban and significant fine as there is no need.
Set up a hands free system in your car and set the phone in it before you set off, It really is simple as that! Don't text or use social media, Only phones calls if you need to. Police can still pull you over though if they feel you are being distracted even with hands free, But why should you be? Any more than if you are talking to someone in the car.. Everyone does that! Just be sensible when in conversation on the road.
@@danimayb Difference in talking to someone on the phone hands free compared to speaking to someone physically in the car with you. The person on the phone isn't aware of your surroundings whereas someone physically in the car is. Talking is a distraction either way but at least talking with someone travelling with you is also likely to be aware of whats going on.

Watched another video of your from a while ago today and must say I'm impressed with your ever increasing production quality. Great stuff (not some these drivers, mind) 👍
I live on the corner of a relatively busy junction in the town I'm in. No exaggeration, I could be looking out my front living room window for about 30 seconds and every time I would see someone either eating, texting, talking on the phone, and/or distracted by something/someone in the vehicle whist driving. Seeing this video (and some of your other similar videos) basically replicates what I see on daily basis. It's actually quite frightening that so many people do not see (or care about) the potential risks they take. It's simply why there next to be motor license resits every 10 years. It will help reiterate the importance of road safety to those who have held a licence for decades, as well as mitigate the amount of truly dangerous drivers from being on the roads.
Not had an overtaking motorcycle yet on my lessons, but I did come across a turning long vehicle in today’s lesson at a cross junction that featured on one of your earlier clips.
I held back two car lengths from the white line to help the trucker turn without impeding him, I got a pat on the back and was asked where I had learned it from which I replied Ashley Neal on RUclips. Your clips have helped no end
Another great video Ashley. As an ex motorcycle instructor, I often recall the first and best advice I ever received at seventeen years old whilst learning to ride on the road, was to assume every driver you come across will try to kill you. Sounds extreme doesn't it? But if you've spent enough time on a motorbike or cycled you will understand that comment. I'm not saying it's intentional, but with that mindset locked and loaded so to speak, you are more aware of what's going on around you and can often preempt a dangerous situation before it happens.

2 lane road (+1 for turning) in the city. Truck parked in one lane, I'm passing it with my bike on the sidewalk (where it's allowed and wide enough).
Right before passing I slowed down a little just to be more careful. Didn't really have anything to do with the car passing the truck on the opposite side. Right after passing the truck he went over the sidewalk into a parking lot. Without slowing down.
If I didn't held back out of instinct he could have hit me, which I think would have ended quite bad for me.
You only start learning to drive after you pass your test. Stay safe everybody. Even if Ashley's videos make you 1% more wary of other road users, they are worth watching as it might save your life. He offers free professional insight into fails. I was only at a funeral yesterday, it made me think that if you make one stupid decision while driving, it ruins the life of your family and demolishes your friends. I believe you can have fun in your car when it's safe to (as otherwise what's the point of owning a nice car), like a country road where you can see all the way to the end with no junctions, but not where other people are involved.
Switch island coming the way you came is always a challenge, well done to your learner driver. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only person slowing down to 50 then 40, I've been tailgated so many times there, it's often tough not to be pushed forwards by impatient people

I do like that UK lights have an amber phase going from red to green, we don't have that in the states, and I think if we did, we'd have more people jumping the green.
also, that white pickup was driving like an American. magnetized to what, to a yank, is the inside lane, despite that they could have just stayed in the outside lane since they were taking the off ramp immediately after the on ramp they entered from.

Probably also has to do with car transmissions, the US largely uses automatic while the UK largely uses manual transmissions, and a red-yellow overlap phase before going green lets manual drivers get their cars in gear before moving.
Funnily enough, parts of the US used to have a red-yellow phase. Back in the early days of traffic signals, before the indications and operations got standardized, a yellow was most often used to indicate that the light was about to change from red or green to the other indication, so you'd often get a red/yellow overlap and/or green/yellow overlap at the last few seconds of a phase. Some early traffic signals as well, such as the 3-bulb Darley 4-way signals would have to operate this way, due to the nature of their design.
When one of the early MUTCDs standardized the placement, colors, and operations, this largely got phased-out, though Massachusetts kept a red/yellow phase around for much longer, though only as an indication that it was safe for pedestrians to cross in all directions at an intersection. It was still basically a red light for drivers.
In relation to 1:24. Try driving on the M25, i see this every day (crossing white solid lines) and moving straight over to Lane 3 or 4.
You have the M25. I have the M42 and the M6.
On the opposite end of the stupidity scale. Try overtaking lorries in lanes 2 and 3 of the M1. I've only ever used it twice. Many drivers prefer to tailgate you rather than using lane 4 to overtake you.
Was in a Delta cab last week in town (bottom of Paradise Street) went through junction, bus waiting at the LH side beeped, driver “cursed him” “what’s your problem” me to myself “wtf you just gone through a red, two seconds late!” Fortunately I was getting out up the road.
Also had a car from the right, at that mini round-a-bout on Aintree Lane overtake me on the island too.

Ashley I love your driving fail videos, as a relatively new Bus driver I am reminded on a daily basis, just how bad some drivers are, I have had to sit and pass 3 exams and 2 practical test to gain a bus drivers licence. Only once I started driving a vehicle in excess off 40 feet and a weight on average 23 tons did I realise I have to think for the majority of road users, not just myself. what worries me is the driver sits forward of the chassis and the crumple zone is the drivers knees.
Nice learning point with the motorcycle. We should always check mirrors and sideways glance before any change in speed, braking or accelerating. The motorcyclist seems to have read the roadcraft book too as they sat nicely in the following position, waited for the solid white line on their side of the road to end, didn't sweep past the rear corner but moved out nicely where they had a good view and could be seen in the door mirror then went for it. No indicator pulling back in required as that is the expected thing for them to do. I think it was nice overtake for both parties.
He missed his ‘lifesaver’ before pulling out, and no gloves so points off for those 😉

@@seankearney6915 mihai is obviously correct but I would not have turned my head in this case I would have kept my head facing forward, I'm not just trying to be clever here but with many years of experience I don't think it is always necessary to crank your head around ie if there was someone in his blind spot they would have got taken out in a head on collision by the oncoming car, the bikes mirror would have probably given enough field of view in this clip.
I do the lifesaver most of the time but not always and I constantly check my mirrors.

13:44 Very important lesson. Due to the nature of the roads in the UK, British drivers are not very used to overtaking or being overtaken. There are lots of situations in which people being overtaken accelerate, and then they're the ones all annoyed, despite Highway Code Rule 168.
Some people have cod ( compulsive overtaking disorder)and others have mbf ( must be Infront )
@@stephenhill8790 Some people have CDUSL (compulsively driving under the speed limit) and AODLSOSL (accelerating on dotted lines, slow on solid lines). None of us should be telling other drivers what to do. We are not the police. I too drive pretty briskly, but when someone wants to overtake me I back off and let them go. I have no interest in either having an annoyed restless ricer boy riding my rear bumper, or in fighting on narrow twisty ways with someone overtaking me.
@@stephenhill8790 Don't forget CBO - can't be overtaken. I've seen drivers in my rear view mirror flashing their lights and doing their nut because I've passed them without incident. Some drivers seem to believe that overtaking is a criminal offence. I don't overtake much on single carriageway roads but I will if it's necessary.

The biggest thing about that clip for me is that the BMW went around even though the cam car could have been going all the way around!
I've only been driving about 6 years now, and the motorway sometimes freaks me out when it's super busy. I'm content to stay in my lane, only change when I really need to and don't ram it down the outside lane. It scares the living daylights out of me when I see some of this driving ESPECIALLY with mobile phones in hand - a danger lying in wait. I've recently started watching your Driving Fail videos because they are really good, for all some of the driving on show gives me the fear!

Great video again, and it's reassuring to read the comments from what is no doubt just a small sample of millions of good safe drivers.
About 12:07 you say that correctly going round a mini-roundabout can cause another driver to drive recklessly like the one in the clip. I doubt if that's quite what you meant. Certainly, it provides the opportunity, and the slight delay might trigger the driver behind, but how we drive never causes what other drivers do. We can only take responsibility for our own driving.
This might be argued over and I'm not putting it out here as fact but as a place to stand - the place where in my reckoning your channel does stand.

I find that some of the drivers today once having passed their test appear to forget everything they were taught and throw the rule book out of the window. I advised my daughter while she was driving of the speed limit we were in and the response was "no one drives at the speed limit anymore ". Says it all and the road we were in was of a lower speed due to schools nearby and some of the worst offenders are the parents taking their children to school who take risks despite their little ones in the car. Makes me wonder what the future drivers will be like.
I haven’t even started watching this video and you said delta private hire. I’ve been in one of there taxis once when I used to work in Liverpool and it was once too many. Never again. Looking forward to this.
I used to asses taxi drivers for Nottingham council. Everyone failed a my first assessment, most would of failed a driving test in the first 5 yards. In Nottingham taxi drivers had to pass a taxi test set up by the then DSA. My job as a fleet trainer/ coach was to assess then assist with the driving exam. Most refused my training offer, an hour or so at £35 an hour. I told the drivers none of you will pass without further training, I was correct, none did, so it cost them another re- test plus another hour or so with me to get them ready. I don’t think they do this anymore, not sure as I’m not involved in driver training or rehabilitation concerning rogue drivers! I did speed awareness courses for councils too.
Ashley , playing Devil's Advocate here - Clip 5 - why were you out in lane two when lane one is empty ? The whole situation would never have arisen if you'd been in lane one ? I did note that later on lane one became an exit lane , but where the Jag caught up it was still just an ordinary lane for quite some distance ....
Did you miss the sign telling road users the appropriate lane for their direction of travel or were you ignoring it? There is actually another exactly the same at the mile marker before the clip starts.
Not sure if you can still do it, but you used to be able to book your driving test out of town, choose the most rural location you can, out of rush hour times, and your test is 10x easier. I spent 90% of mine driving on empty country roads, a 2 minute drive through a small town, reversed one corner, and a 3 point turn on a wide quiet road, test passed first time with 3 minors for failing to check mirrors. The biggest problem with driving in a city or big town is other drivers, just one mistake from them can be a fail for you, you are also more likely to become flustered if you are stuck in traffic or hold people up, i think there are also extra requirements for parking, this may have changed now though, been 16 years since i passed mine. Also talk as much as you can without distracting yourself, there may be minor things the examiner misses which might get you a fault.
If you think of every other driver as either dangerously incompetent or actively malicious, you can avoid a lot of hassle. Trust noone, and keep enough space and you'll generally be fine.
I especially look out for and avoid anything with a VW or Audi badge, even more so if they have Golf gti, R or S3 on their hatchbacks...

@ 7:33 - what about the Astra, parked on the kerb behind the dustcart? Admittedly parked, but nevertheless facing in the wrong direction. Could it also be a case of bad signage (absolutely not condoning the dustcart driver being on the phone...)
Any chance that you can forward these incidents to the local constabulary. Some forces do a great job in prosecuting the perpetrators with extra training and the odd fine or points.

Interesting point about the use of the horn to help rather than tell off. At the moment I drive and cycle in Kyrgyzstan, where I had to get used to a culture where the horn is more often used to warn rather than to reprimand. Sometimes still though I'm on my bike and someone beeps me, and I have to remind myself it's usually not out of aggression. When driving now in this country I now often use a short beep when I suspect somebody is in danger of pulling out on me , which happens often.
On one of my videos I beeped to warn a Merc that they were about to run a red light. Had a couple of numpties saying I was using the horn illegally out of FURY. Some people eh.

Most of them need lessons themselves, recently saw a traffic car (who are supposed to be advanced/specialist) reversing up the hard shoulder of a motorway
In clip #5, what was the ground for keep driving in the middle lane far before the sorting lanes begin?
I also feel that the lane for their intended destination was taken much earlier than it should have been. Even if I am travelling right on the speed limit I do my best to keep left until I need to select the correct lane. The road markings help but different road and traffic conditions call for different actions.
A really challenging case of finding the correct lane is as the M4 (junction 20, West-bound) crosses the M5. Traffic here is typically on the heavy side and often with one or two lanes (of the 5 lanes?) moving much slower than other lanes. I don't blame folk in that situation from doing the best to select their lane early and stick to it.
The first sign we see says the split is half a mile ahead. You can be pretty certain there was one just before the clip started, probably at the one mile mark. So he was just picking the appropriate lane. Do that 20 miles before your junction, sure - it would be silly / selfish / lane hogging. But not one mile. Think of the alternative... everyone stays in the lane most appropriate to their speed, and then lane swap all at the same in the last quarter mile (18 seconds) to get into the right lane for their destination. It would be carnage!
My favourite clips are the ones with the horn and a poor motorway exit. That last one is horrendous... Cheers as always!
I've had that so often on mini roundabouts. I am going straight ahead so don't signal. I move to the left to go around the roundabout and the vehicle behind thinks I'm turning left and overtakes on my right
The truly saddening thing about that truck exiting the M40 to the A452 from lane 3 is that not only is it almost impossible to get out and back into another lane in the short distance between the two junctions, as indeed is demonstrated, but it is never really necessary to leave lane 1 in the first place. Enter on lane 1; stay in lane 1 for all of 10 seconds; leave from lane 1. In my experience of that very stretch of the M40, the traffic is never going slowly in lane 1 there, and it's over that quickly. That was an utterly pointless manoeuvre. But then crossing the hatch markings coming down the slip road was an indicator of not very good driving.

Driving through the Queensway (A38) tunnels in Birmingham city centre after the A38M. Speed limit 30 mph. The first one is particularly dangerous with a sharp bend just beyond the entrance. The left hand lane is marked for exits to a number of roads on the left. Only the right hand lane is designated for through traffic until the final tunnel. I was tailgated by a police van flashing his headlights but no blues and twos.

I remember the first (and only) time I went the wrong way down a one-way street. It was dark, and it was only one-way due to tramway construction (it is two-way again nowadays). It was dark and in an area of town I hadn't really driven through before, right across from an intersection. The signage wasn't great, and I had missed it until I saw oncoming cars in my lane. At that point, I did the only thing I could and found a place close to the ledge where the tramway was being built and waited for them to pass, and then I turned around, and went the right way. I was pretty scared as it happened though. I think I had tunnel-visioned at the traffic light.
Another fail. I've just been around to our local post box. A learner was slowly negotiation a roundabout, followed much too closely by a plonker. As soon as the learner excited the roundabout, plonker accelerated past him at great velocity. It's dark & plonker made no allowance for anything that might have been in the murk ahead. And our residential roads in Wales are limited to 20.
1:40 That section of motorway is litteraly 2mins from my house. The white pickup got on at the M40 south bound at j15 and got off at j14. Both junctions are each side of the River Avon. Drivers are always doing that (but not as bad as white pickup man) as the junctions are so close together and drivers not expecting them to be so close together. I tried making out the name on the side of it but can't.
You can at higher resolutions, but who it is is not the important thing really.

10:14 Ashley isn't horn use only for alerting other drivers of your presence. The driver had already begun applying the brakes before you hooted. Was it appropriate?
Would you ever consider doing driving reviews of other dashcam compilations? I doubt you'd have many favourable things to say about many of the drivers!

Yes! I had been thinking about this! Especially when you see so many cammers in the wrong and they think they are in the right, I would assume Ashley gets less stuff like that sent to him because he's a driving instructor.

8:11 as someone who is studying to drive HGVs it angers me to see drivers in lorries on their phone. The amount of studying and knowledge and emphasis on road safety needed. It completely baffles me.

@@ashley_neal I thought displaying 'L' plates were not allowed on the motorway. I've just noticed the law changed in 2018... 😊 Also just noticed that if there is no learner present in the vehicle, it remains illegal...

Driving at lunch today I joined a new road at a roundabout just in time to see a BMW coming towards me on my side as he overtook an entire queue of traffic. I held back, fixed his mistake and thought of Ashley :D

The worst thing I've ever seen on the road was a taxi trying to do a 3 point turn on a dual carriageway, with a central reservation and a crash barrier separating the traffic.
while laying in bed trying to sleep, I still wonder where he was trying to get to and how...
Someone in my town got into a real nasty accident pulling the same dumb move.
The excuse?
He had missed the turning for the fuel station and because he was extremely low on fuel he decided to turn around and travel back the wrong way up the duel carriageway.
The consequence?
Killed his kid and permanently disabled his wife. A 100% avoidable tragedy.
Last week I was following behind a slow moving taxi on an A road with a queue behind him. The guy then pulled over on the right hand lane (into oncoming traffic) to let everyone behind him past. Which then meant oncoming cars had to stop/swerve.
It was on a corner as well.
We also need to remember that dash cams are wide angled and objects also look significantly further away than they actually are.
Yes breaking in most situations is the safest option but not all.

I don't normally watch these videos but it popped up. At 12:35 you instructed your pupil to indicate left to leave the Mini Roundabout. I've been under the impression since I learnt to ride myself (6 years ago) that you don't indicate in that fashion on a Mini. You do on a larger roundabout (indicated by the triangular white sign) but on a mini (blue roundel) you only indicate left to go left, right to go right and not at all to go straight over. I can understand indicating right as the exit you took was to the right of the entrance (due to the road curving left slightly) but then indicating left back off? That to me is wrong and something I get annoyed about other people doing as it goes against what I was taught.
I said to the pupil “you’re still trying to signal left to leave” I’m with you on this 👍🏼
Re. clip #17, I once had a biker following me through a village so I didn't speed up afterwards thinking he'd pass. He didn't pass me, so were both doing 40 on a clear road for several seconds for no good reason! At least I tried! :)
Thank you, as a biker, if I'm behind a car doing 30/40 through a village, that's fine, then national speed limit once through, I think it's much safer to nip ahead at that point while the car is at 40. Obviously if it's clear and safe to do so.
If it was a learner bike or a 125 or 250 in general it probably isnt fast enough to safely overtake at 40. I know my 125 was only quick up to about 35 before slowly crawling up to about 60 flat out.
For Clip#5 (starting around 3:35) why do you have your learner in the middle lane so early? The Jag did an awful undertaking manoeuvre, but you were in the middle lane for a solid minute from the beginning of the clip (and I'd guess for a bit before then too?) until getting to the point that you need to actually change lanes. Surely if you'd have been on the left, the entire thing would have been avoided and you could have then moved to the middle lane for Formby?
Because there are signs to show the lane for the direction of travel. Did you miss them or do you ignore them?
@@ashley_neal I neither missed nor ignored them. They are there to inform you what the lanes are to become, not to dictate that you should be in that lane immediately, similar to a lane being closed 1 mile ahead - you don't move across to the open lane immediately, do you?. You're on the M57 from the look of things and I would assume you moved over to the middle shortly before the start of the clip. The fact remains that the car was in the middle lane of the motorway, when lane 1 was clear, for a full minute before moving to the 40 limit, which is where (in my mind) you should be getting in to the lane that you want. Had you been in lane 1, the cars behind wouldn't have been inconvenienced by you and the jag wouldn't have undertook you. The poor driving is still the jag's (im in no way trying to absolve that bad driving), and it seems that your learner is probably still a bit on the new side, but it seems appropriate to teach him timing and what can happen if you do things very early, even if it's something that you "can" do.
You should get in lane appropriate to the traffic conditions. The later you leave it the more risk there is as many people ignore the limit changes. Do the right thing and don't appease people doing the wrong thing (but look out for them).
Since when did 1 mile / 1 minute before your junction become an unacceptable time to be in the correct lane for your destination? I get 10 miles out... but 1 mile? Seriously? What are you suppose to do, all merge in the last 15 seconds? That'd go well...
Clip 8 - I once 'almost' went the wrong way down a one way street . I was 17 , not long passed my driving test , and still at school . We had an outing to Stirling University to look at courses being offered and I took a few classmates along . I turned into a street that had been two-way the week before , this was on a Monday morning and it was the first day of it being a one way street ( the opposite way to which i was going ) - I turned right , and clocked the 'no entry' signs as I turned , and jammed on my brakes . There was a traffic warden standing there , grinning . I apologised and said it was OK last week . we had a bit of banter and he guided me back out . No mobile phones back in 1975 !
Of course it was my fault .
Would red light jumping be stopped by more traffic cameras at junctions?

Clip 7; Also sitting on the nearside of a truck entering a curve to the left and at a point the truck could have wanted to change lanes before that.
The L car was not in truckers blind spot at beginning of video. Unless he suffers from Alzheimer's he should remember where the car was even if the student was in his blind spot.
@@shawnrahoon6789 Not a student though which is why I mention it. Yes, the trucker shouldn't have any issues recalling where they are, but an instructor shouldn't be making that mistake to begin with. You don't see Ashley driving up the side of trucks like that do you? All instructors are trained to pass the same advanced knowledge tests to become qualified instructors so there's no reason this instructor shouldn't also know you shouldn't do that as it unnecessarily increases risk. Although they're already demonstrating a flawed attitude to road safety by tailgating to begin with, I'm just pointing it out as advanced drivers should be held to the advanced level they were trained to and clearly capable of driving at in order to be a qualified instructor/police officer/IAM member/etc.
What happened to the side camera in your newer videos?
If you have any spare time you really should send the clips you capture to your local police force. The guy in the BMW driving on a road like that with his child in the car needs a good talking too @ 12:20
Ashley doesn't report stuff to the police, he has a business to run with his name on the brand? Imagine if got a reputation for snitching, what good would that do to his livelihood.
@@RichO1701e I forgot the police don't have access to RUclips. They'll never see it here. No difference as far as I'm concerned, but sending direct just gets it too them quicker.
If Merseyside Police are anything like my local force, they'll respond by rolling their eyes and making it clear that telling drivers off for aggressive and dangerous driving is not part of their job these days. They're generally only interested AFTER the driver has caused a fatality and they need to put evidence together to get the driver convicted for causing death by dangerous driving.
I remember on a chicane I had right of way. Just as I was about to go move off, the driver on the other side of it, started moving. I couldn’t believe it we went almost head on. The worst thing was the lady on the other side started swearing and insisted that she was in the right. Unbelievable

Had to back off the gas to let an overtaking car in before they ran out of space earlier in the week.
Thing is, they had plenty of time to do the overtake beforehand but didn’t bother until it was too late.

The clue with the white pick up and Jag is in the body language of the car, it should send warning signals to everyone on that part of the road.
So as you probably remembered: I'm an emergencyphotographer in the Netherlands. About the tailgating 'driving instructor': Do you really think it was a driving instructor driving that car? 2 weeks ago I had a crash in my city: A learner car drove into the water due to a technical failure. The driver was a friend of the driving instructor. I don't think a driving instructeur would wave at another learner car to hurry up. O well, a really bad one might do that. I don't know how the regulations about the L on the car are in the UK, maybe you can explain that? Or do you already have a video about that?
Driving instructor wouldn't teach a pupil to do that as they'd fail the test. If you are teaching say your kid to drive, you put L plates on, you don't have a professional logo on the roof
Interestingly, there is only a suggestion L plates be removed from the vehicle when "not being driven by a learner (except on driving school vehicles).” 🤨
