Sculpey iii tends to be very very sticky compared to premo, I learned to just remove the oil by rolling out a thin slab putting it in regular printer paper folded in half around it and rolling it until it’s flat enough so that most of the thickness of the clay is covered by clay. Then leave for overnight for the best results and bam it’s similar to premo

I love sculpy 3 thank you for dispelling some fear!

Hope it helps! It’s hard to throw clay out because of the current shortage so I really want to make the most of what I have. Plus, Sculpey III has some amazing colors! 😊 Thanks for watching!

@@CraftTimeStudio Agree totally. I've been been experimenting on my own, but your instructions answered lots of questions.
      Thank you again!

I'm sorry but I much prefer this to the 'normal' Sculpey having nearly
    broken my fingers
    softening it.

Some brands can be super hard to condition. I find pounding it with a mallet also helps soften very hard clay 😊

Thank you for doing this experiment and sharing! There was no premo in white at my local craft stores so I decided to try the infamous Sculpey III and Fimo. I was planning to mix and this is the only video I see on it. I'm also going to look into sealing them with resin. Or a resin substitute since I hear that it is toxic.

It really is quite difficult to keep on stock the better brands and I also don’t advocate throwing out clay so I found this as a solution, at least for the time being 😊 Thank you for watching!

Thank you for showing it a crumbly mess when you first condition. I always flip out and try so many ways to soften it first until I’m pretty stressed. But I suppose if im patient enough it will be fine.

I discovered that hammering it with a mallet cuts my conditioning time in half 😊

You’re welcome 😊 It was also enlightening for me to do the experiment and find out for myself what works.

@@CraftTimeStudio this was very helpful to me as I had been sent sculpey three mistake, but so wanted to get started making things that i decided I may be able to mix it with other clays. So your video is just what I wanted, I will have a little experiment myself I think I will tent the clay with tin foil though! thank you very much!

@@jennifergeach7043 I'm glad you found this little experiment of mine. Yes to the tin foil tent. I've read how others have found success in it =) Have fun experimenting!

I was wondering how using this clay would turn out since it’s all I have thanks

    • @CraftTimeStudio

I understand the concern. Because of the shortage of clay felt worldwide, sometimes we have to make do with what we have 😌

I wonder, if you resin them does it really matter anyway? I was sent Sculpey 3 by accident and figured I would just resin them and then it won't matter how flexible they are. Great experiment though!

Thank you! In theory, I suppose it wouldn’t matter if you top it with resin, although I haven’t yet tried doing that 😊

Yes! That’s a good use for Sculpey III as well 👍 Thanks for sharing!
