I don't think many could handle themselves with the composure that Ricky showed, not just down the stretch, but after the tournament as well. HUGE Wysocki fan. Congrats McBeast!
I had the pleasure of watching these guys play three rounds this week, at Trojan, then Milo East, and then finally at Blue Lake on Friday. The golf I saw far exceeded my expectations, it was probably the most amazing play of any sport I've ever seen. McBeth's tap in 3 on the incredibly tough par 5 hole 17 at Blue Lake was the pinnacle of what I witnessed. It was, quite simply, the most impressive hole of golf I'll probably ever see. These RUclips videos are absolutely fantastic, but even they don't do justice to the level of play taking place. The speed of their throws, the raw kinetic grandeur of it, is something you have to see live to fully appreciate. I am a solid disc golfer, with the ability to occasionally throw over 400 feet. These guys make me look like a rank beginner, it's almost like we're not even playing the same sport. Condolences to Paul Ulibarri, an awesome player and an awesome person, who played nearly flawlessly the entire tournament. He was solidly in the lead midway through round 6, to the point where I remarked to the course director "At this point, if McBeth is going to win this, Ulibarri is going to have to start making mistakes." Right after that, Mcbeth went birdie, birdie, eagle over one of the toughest stretches of the course, and suddenly Ulibarri's 6 stroke lead over him was down to just 2. It's really a shame that Ulibarri wasn't able to hold it together, ultimately finishing what must have been a devastating fourth place. Serious props to all four guys on the lead card. After Round 6 on Blue Lake, during which they went -13, -13, -12 and -10 respectively, they were a full 10 strokes ahead of the entire rest of the field. It's almost like this foursome was playing in a different division from the rest of the pros. Huge congratulations to Paul McBeth for his third consecutive title. I think this win cemented the reality that he is the best player to ever play disc golf. Climo dominated his era, but even in his prime he was nowhere near the player that Paul McBeth is. There is no one on Earth with McBeth's mixture of skills, he is impeccable in every aspect of the game. Wysocki has unbelievable talent, but he'll have to take his game to another level before he'll be able to consistently win majors. Thanks to McFlySoHigh for posting these videos, I am glad I got to thank at least one of you in person at the event!
These 4 players separate themselves by way of having both a forehand and backhand game. These are the guys that have been able to push course record scores and tournament winning scores beyond what Climo, Shultz, and Feldberg did, because those older guys didn't (and still don't) have the complimentary forehand game. Simon Lizotte is the other guy that has the 2 way game that can and sometimes does make those older, albeit amazing, backhand players look a little outmatched in today's field. All that said, this video proves yet again that putting is what makes the difference in the end.
after watching this several times, i finally heard it. at the very end right before they review the scorecard, mcbeth says to ricky "this wont be the last time" as encouragement to wysocki. a class act. and he's right ricky, you'll be up there again.
That was the most intense disc golf I have ever seen in my life. Way to McFly for filming this incredible piece of disc golf history, way to go McBeth on the 3-peat, and huge props to Ricky for playing his heart out and being gracious enough to do that interview with Paul at the end of the round even though all he really wanted to do was crawl in a hole. Classy stuff guys.
Great coverage! That look on Ricky's face during the interview at the end... Dang. I appreciate how respectful Mcbeth is at that moment great sportsmanship. Class act! Can't believe those putts during sudden death what a machine.
Wow. Just wow. As a disc golf player and fan, this is beyond awesome documentation of some amazing and dramatic play to finish out the biggest competition in what has at this point become a global sport. Even if you are new to this sport or someone stumbling onto footage of something that might at first seem like just a bunch of hippies throwing frisbees in the woods, you have to appreciate this exhilarating conclusion to one of the best and most competitive finishes to a major sporting event i have ever seen. All those playoff holes, are you kidding me? Multiple watches and i still get goosebumps after some of those sudden death putts go in. Such unbelievable focus from McBeth all the way through, and that was the difference. Congrats to all competitors, especially Paul and Ricky, and thanks so much to McFly and the tourney organizers for all the hard work, keep it up fellas!
I think this is the pinnacle of what's been done in broadcasting the sport so far. Sure it's not perfect in all camera angles and such - but in capturing the drama and amazing shot-making of what was surely the highest level play in the sport so far - this video just set the bar.
I do wish the angle on Ricky's tree hit on the last hole was a bit better, but this is classic McFly footage. Focus being on aesthetics in general: zoom in and refocus on shots from behind, tasteful inclusion of tap-ins etc only when necessary, etc. Love it or hate it, the man has a style and doesn't seem interested in anything other than refining/improving it, which in my opinion he has done with great success.
Honestly It was great being there for this round in person but I got a much better view of what actually hapenned watching this video. Glad you were there to capture it. My heart still hurts for Ricky. He played amazing all week and I really thought he deserved the win.
I think this is the best McFly video to date! Thank you! It perfectly captures the amazing drama and sportsmanship of this competition I am so thrilled McBeth won - I'm a HUGE fan. He's gotta be the classiest player out there! I also love that he had to fight for the win. Not nearly as satisfying if he were to roll into the top spot many strokes ahead.
This playoff was one for the ages.....amazing gallery, & just one clutch shot (especially putts!) after another! These guys are taking the sport to another level. I felt bad for Uli who lead most of the week, & of course, for Ricky, whose composure was extremely impressive when it all was over. Thanks again as always McFly.....good stuff!!
How can one ask for a better World finals? Perhaps the top 2 in the game today going back and forth. Amazing coverage, thank you for all your hard work all year! Hats off to Wysocki and McBeast, both showed what it takes to be a champion. And great to see Doss on the final card making great shots, just that putting on the final rounds... been killin him most of the year.
One of the best McFly videos yet! Thanks for posting. I don't know if it was the battle, or the filming, or a combo of both but this was the first time the drama of the sport was captured...in my opinion. Very fun to watch, great battle. I wish Ricky would've pulled it off though, he deserves one.
What a great match. You can see at the very end how much the runner up wanted it; especially in the ending interview and when congratulating the world champ. Those two guys are so good for this sport. Class all the way.
I've always been a huge McBeast fan and am thrilled he won, but I have so much more respectful Wysocki. He's been good a long time, but I'm finally a fan of his after seeing the heart he put into the world's. He will get the payoff for all the hard work he puts in, I guarantee it.
Your guarantee was correct 😊 Although I'm betting this year is the year Simon and Eagle take over. Just the most talented dudes playing the game nowadays.
Can't understand the scores - i'm preety sure it was Ricky Wysocki (-65) Paul (-63) Ulibarri (-62) Nate Doss (-59) before the final 9 and that's what the livescoring says
I give props to Ricky for hanging in there during the interview after the round. He looked like he really just wanted to go lick his wounds, but he showed good sportsmanship.
Amazing play by McBeth during the final 9. As a side note, Ulibarri with a black and white foot fault at 22:37. How has he not been called out on this? Wow. Good thing Doss took down 3rd regardless of that.
Uli's been doing that walk putt on tour for years. If you watch the putt and slowed down, you can see he makes sure the disc releases before his right foot leaves the ground behind his lie.
Rad Flow THANK YOU! The morons on twitter have been arguing with me over that EXACT putt and sometimes he's good but Iv'e seen paul plant that left foot before releasing the disc many many times.
The problem is that style of putting is virtually impossible to tell, in real time, when the release is. It's so borderline, you have no choice but to give the benefit of the doubt that the guy knows what he's doing. With Paul most of those putts are impossible to tell. If you watch him enough some of them are definitely illegal, but how can you sort it out watching him in real time during a round? I watched the putt in question a bunch of times, and even got some perfect freeze frames, and I still can't tell if he was good or not. To me that style of putting may be legal according to the way the rules are written, but betray the intent behind the rule, the "spirit of the law" so to say. Its also biomechanically completely pointless, because you're releasing the disc after the weight transfer energy comes through your body. Compare Paul's "walk put" to Feldberg's and its a night and day difference. If you're actually using the energy generated by the motion the disc will come out of your hand well before your back foot crosses the line of your lie. I'm not saying Paul is cheating or anything, just that I think that kind of putting shouldn't be allowed, and everyone would be better off in the long run if it wasn't
in regards to the putt, two things: (1) Why would Paul (or anyone else who walk-putts) want the jarring action from their foot hitting the ground at the moment of their release? They wouldn't!!! And therefore--if you really think about it--they must release the disc before their front foot hits the ground. And (2) How many times do a standard jump putter's feet leave the ground before they release the disc? All the time!!! And therefore--if you really think about it--the walk-putt putt is probably more legal than the standard jump putt. Why doesn't anyone ever complain about jump putters?
Has anyone noticed a white figure fly down the screen on the top right portion of the screen during Ulibarri's tee shot at 21:31? HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! GHOST!!!!!!!
Dang. It's hard to remember that there is also a loser in all the excitement. Ricky played great, and so did Paul. How exciting is it that there is so much amazing young talent! Then you have doss, the vet playing with class still being a mentor of shorts.
Lol for Pauls and Pauls rollers on hole 1. Both of them throw a roller that rolls behind a tree and never comes out again. Then it just magically drops down from the branches above =P Seriously? How does two people do that same throw after each other? Must have something to do with the name =P
Hey McFly. I love your videos an am grateful for them but I need to offer some constructive criticism. It completely ruined the worlds for me that you posted a separate video called "McBeth vs Wysocki: Sudden Death for a World Title". I was so surprised that you who bring videos to people all the time would blow the ending for your fans like that. On a minor side note, please cut off clips as soon as the disc lands rather than waiting for the applause to end. Again, sorry if I sound like an ass. Your videos are extremely well done and I'm a faithful subscriber.
25:30 lol at Shustericks face when Paul drains that huge birdie.
I believe I saw him mouth a "wow" as he hit it.
I don't think many could handle themselves with the composure that Ricky showed, not just down the stretch, but after the tournament as well. HUGE Wysocki fan. Congrats McBeast!

I've probably watched this at least a dozen times and it still gets me. So cool
Great coverage! That look on Ricky's face during the interview at the end... Dang. I appreciate how respectful Mcbeth is at that moment great sportsmanship. Class act! Can't believe those putts during sudden death what a machine.
Great footage--thanks so much. McBeth has to be the best putter on the planet right now. So many long putts, so many clutch putts.
Still making the best coverage, don't stop!
Wow!!!!!! That was amazing, rock on Marty! Keep up the spectacular work! And whomever disliked this video should be ashamed of themselves...
Wow. Just wow. thanks for sharing these videos so quickly! I love that I can stay current with the big tournaments on youtube!
Thanks for the post... Dude this channel is better than anything on television. May the disc gods bless you and your channel!
You just captured a piece of disc golf history. Amazing coverage thank you!

Thanks for getting the video up so quickly! You did a great job capturing an awesome finish.
Seriously the biggest gallery yet!
Thank you for filming and posting the vid. Pleasure to watch.
thanks again mr mcfly always coming through with great footage

great work! I knew this game with your video unfortunately we in italy don't have a lot of courses but I hope to continue to play this sport!
11:23 girl after nate's throw "...oh hell yeah."
priceless.
One of the best McFly videos yet! Thanks for posting. I don't know if it was the battle, or the filming, or a combo of both but this was the first time the drama of the sport was captured...in my opinion. Very fun to watch, great battle. I wish Ricky would've pulled it off though, he deserves one.

Turned the live broadcast from DGPTV on at the start of the 2nd sudden death hole. I knew I could count on you for the other parts! MCBEAST!!!
thanks for uploading so quick!
damn the gallery was awesome. What a great atmosphere
Loves the intro song!
I've always been a huge McBeast fan and am thrilled he won, but I have so much more respectful Wysocki. He's been good a long time, but I'm finally a fan of his after seeing the heart he put into the world's. He will get the payoff for all the hard work he puts in, I guarantee it.

Lol.... that must have been a butt type...lol
Your guarantee was correct 😊
Although I'm betting this year is the year Simon and Eagle take over. Just the most talented dudes playing the game nowadays.
This is some amazing golf right here.
Great Ricky and Paul battle
This video had me all clammy for the both of them.
Can't understand the scores - i'm preety sure it was Ricky Wysocki (-65) Paul (-63) Ulibarri (-62) Nate Doss (-59) before the final 9 and that's what the livescoring says
Thanks for the videos! You should put a tail on the disc for future videos. Makes it nice and easy to see and itsnt to hard in editing!
Great Video!
fitting that he won on the Top of the Hill.
Lets fucking go! McBeast! Huge Mcbeast fan right here.
Really wish wysocki would've won this. Not to hate, but man that kid needs a big win. Easily the most impressive player on tour IMO
He did just win the Japan open, which is kind of a big deal.
He did win the Japan Open this year. That seems like a pretty sizable victory to me.
Mcbeast is clutch. That man has ice in his veins!
What a game!!
33:15 The disc golf groupies are here! I hope Ricky hit it. LOL
haha
If Nate was only just an average putter, he would be in the top-3 every tournament.
I love how Wysocki has to fight every OB lie he gets. I've seen it in every video of him in a final 9
This crowd is bad ass.
25:27 Hey I see Will!
lol, I like how everyone cheers and then instantly runs to next hole after Paul nails that long putt. Active crowd :)
*Mcbeth makes putt* "....wow" *takes off running to next hole*
I give props to Ricky for hanging in there during the interview after the round. He looked like he really just wanted to go lick his wounds, but he showed good sportsmanship.
How and the loveliest of fucks did I get here?
Watch Will at 25:22. He gets up and starts running. I love it!
That was such a bummer, but McBeth played some mean disc.
I cried when Ricky hit that tree.
Amazing play by McBeth during the final 9. As a side note, Ulibarri with a black and white foot fault at 22:37. How has he not been called out on this? Wow. Good thing Doss took down 3rd regardless of that.
Uli's been doing that walk putt on tour for years. If you watch the putt and slowed down, you can see he makes sure the disc releases before his right foot leaves the ground behind his lie.
and I believe he missed it, so they wouldn't call him out on it. a make is a different story. but Rad Flow is right, release then foot hits.
Rad Flow THANK YOU! The morons on twitter have been arguing with me over that EXACT putt and sometimes he's good but Iv'e seen paul plant that left foot before releasing the disc many many times.

The Wysocki eye roll 32:57
9:15 lol at the guy yelling "yeah paul"
Paul vs Ricky is the new Kenny vs Barry imo
Hey McFly, what's up with the scores at the 1:00 mark? Those are way off! How high were you?
Why no semi final round?
great round. Rick should keep his head up, he's an awesome player. Way to go Paul!
HB mofos!!!!!!
Has anyone noticed a white figure fly down the screen on the top right portion of the screen during Ulibarri's tee shot at 21:31? HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! GHOST!!!!!!!
25:50 had Wysocki missed that, it would have been the most embarrassing thing with everyone running off to the next hole.
13:30 "Not a seven this time" hahahaha
Dang. It's hard to remember that there is also a loser in all the excitement. Ricky played great, and so did Paul. How exciting is it that there is so much amazing young talent! Then you have doss, the vet playing with class still being a mentor of shorts.
3 peat!!!

Ahhh yes, the tree. The mortal enemy of the disk golfer....
BOOO THIS MAN!!! BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
The moment ricky's hopes were crushed 28:42
that sound crushes my hopes every day :/
The only person who likes that sound is a lumber jack. For disc golfers it's nothing but disappointment
Hey McFly. I love your videos an am grateful for them but I need to offer some constructive criticism. Is there a front 9 video?
Sean Selburg The final round of worlds is always only 9 holes.
Lmfao 13:30 Paul "no seven this time" after getting a green flag so funny
I spy a young Paige Pierce in the background with a camera in her hand as usual. 25:21
spit outs, sorry Ricky
doss should have won eeeeeasily if he could putt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the end"HD mutha fucka" ? Lol, man wish wysocki would of won but Paul made every putt, wysocki will take him down soon
Paul is just to big of a bull man can't take him down
Never. Stop. Filming.
