  • Do Portable Plug In Wall Heaters Really Work (e.g. 500W Handy Heater Seen On TV)?
    Small portable wall outlet heaters seem to be the latest heater trend and you can see ("Seen On TV") and buy them everywhere, but do they really work nicely and are they worth the price? The reviews are mostly not really good, but are they really so bad? Watch and see!

    my personal experience with these wall heaters is this .... I purchased 5 of them and only 2 worked properly out of the 5. The company is sending me 3 replacements. I'll see how many out of those work properly.
    On the positive side, the company is trying to make it right...so big kudos and gratitude for the effort.

      @@allcheckout UPDATE:
      So 3 out of the 5 didn't work correctly right out of the box.
      They would all turn on and heat up, but then shut off after about 3 minutes no matter what temp/time settings I tried. The company did right and sent me 3 replacements.
      But the wild thing is that the 3 replacements came with remote controls that the originals didn't come with! All 3 work perfectly with the added convenience bonus.
      So are they just liquidating old stock to new customers in hopes that they are functional??🤔

    You can change the fan speed by pressing both temperature buttons together. I have a similar Blaukpunkt branded one here in the UK. I wouldn't expect it to heat a large room, but it is quite handy when I'm car camping! Note that they are noisier than a traditional fan heater because of the small fan. Also the plug part can be swivelled 90 degrees which might be handy if your socket is close to the floor. Big Clive took one apart a while back, and they're reasonably well put together.

    Great observation on the recessed design of the plug. That wouldn't work too well in the UK.

    I just got these exact ones. I find a pretty strong plasticky smell with each one as they begin to heat. Is this common? Does it fade?

    • @allcheckout
      @allcheckout  10 месяцев назад

      Yes that's quite common. It's always recommended to use all kind of heaters (e.g. also toasters or hair dryers) first outside for half an hour or so till all chemicals have "evaporated" ...

    I'm guessing that as the unit is drawing in air from the sides and the back it needs to be away from the wall for sufficent circulation

      Yes ... in general, but here the design allows for air flow even when close to the wall

    • @allcheckout
      @allcheckout  Год назад

      No ... a hair dryer is stronger ... usually 1500w or more .... this one has only 500w, but you'd need a stand for a hair dryer for constant use and I guess they are not made for hour long operation

    I have this very model with Uk plug, it is not as good as claimed, I have tested this with a room thermometer and regardless of setting, even in a well insulated room, there is minimal increase in room temperature even in extended use and at full setting, the average ambient temperature increase is around 2 degrees Celsius on average even in close proximity ( approximately 1.5 metres any direction).

    • @allcheckout
      @allcheckout  11 месяцев назад

      Within what time? But sure ... it's definitely only rated 500W and real power is even a bit less and hence most ppl using in in small rooms like a shower - there it's perfect

    These are junk, don't waste your money. Even more hilarious are the countless different BS stories they tell in the advertising videos about how it was 'invented', one of them portrays a schoolkid inventing it because the heating broke down at his school. Also hilarious is the claim that they can heat your whole house & save you money on your heating bills.

    • @allcheckout

      Definitely can't heat up a whole home, but easily a small bathroom. I still have mine and use it a lot. And it's not a sponsored item - I paid full price and don't have any relation to the seller or manufacturer

      @@allcheckout how much did u pay? They are being advertised on yt as some revolutionary technological godsend with a sob backstory, $50 plus s+h. Can find online for $11. Lmao
      I dont doubt it works as a 500w heater would, just the price and claims of "cut your heating bills by 92%" are 100% laughable.
      It pisses me off these hucksters are ripping people off with this nonsense.

      @@ctdieselnut Yeah very true. But hey it's 2023 ... watch the world around you ... lol ... nobody really surprised about such things. Always helpful to have some basic tech knowledge to not get mislead. If something consumes 400W then it heats with 400W ... unless using heat pump. I paid $29.99 but of course same thing you can get on Amazon easy for $20 now (amzn.to/47IRQCY) but I bought it 2 yr ago and used it a lot and still working like on day one, no cleaning or other maintenance needed and nicely heating my small shower and using zero space on the floor. Even considering to buy a 2nd one for the other bathroom.
