..umm no, it doesn't. this video is ill informed advertising with amazing scenery, and it refers to Uluru as Ayers Rock. It goes to a miniature railroad in Maryland after less than 9 minutes. if you want the Ghan, watch the slow tv experience

Check out S.A.R trains South Australian rail.i thought you would have done a better job researching.Adelaide to Alice Springs to Darwin not Melbourne as you said 'wrong' huge mistake sad.
You could do one on the famous Flinders ranges South Australia " pitchi Richi Railway" check that out.
They actually have a steam powered train with a conscious of Old Coach cars and they go on the old route and they go from one water hole to another water hole which was necessary in the old days to provide water for the steam engines. A very popular trip nowadays.
