    I've seen a bunch of interviews with these two guys, and I think this was one of the best interviews, because the questions actually got the guys talking. all the other ones it's like they already have a canned answer because they've been asked the same thing over and over and over. good job to the interviewer.

    I'm always impressed with this interviewer. He always has good questions and actual insight to whatever movie he's talking about. He's much better, in my opinion, than the boring, predictable interviewers who just ask the same questions over and over again.

    I'm not entirely sure why people are getting so worked up. I adore the books, but I also love the Guy Ritchie films. I love the BBC adaptation, Sherlock. I love the Granada Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett. I love these characters, and I love that they have been portrayed by so many, so differently, because they have something wonderful and they inspire people. I love Holmes and Watson with all my heart - why can't we just enjoy them, all the hundreds of ways they have been imagined?

    Can somebody explain to me why are the top rated comments doing bad criticism to this film? If you don't like it, don't watch it. I have read Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, and still loved this film, Guy's an incredibly amazing director and that's what good directors do, not just take the book and make it a script and "all done", Guy gave his touch to the story and made it amazing,bringing Mary between them it was such a great idea for it brings fun to the story, it is a comedy/action/adventure

    I , to be completely honest, was in love with Sherlock Holmes before I watched the movie. I had recently started reading it and one day said to my dad "... I want to watch Sherlock Holmes." So we got it on demand and I absolutely loved it. It put just a little twist. But it stayed true to Holmes' method of deduction WITHOUT the long cloak and deerstalker cap we've all come to think of when we hear "Sherlock Holmes"

    @cartoonlove9 I have read all of the original stories. In fact, I've written a published pastiche. I'm also bipolar so I recognize a bipolar person when I read this. Sitting around waiting for the baby to be born is kind of stressful. I love you, and I wish you and Susan (and Jude, too) the best on the new production. Thanks for the exchange.

    @foreshortened He says "obviously, at the heart of the legend is this incredible cerebral ... genius", if you want the exact wording. If you want to know what he means, he's saying that basically the story of Sherlock Holmes and Watson is based on their intelligence.
    I hope this helped. :-)

    doyle was the pioneer of detective fiction.and the late 1890s when the stories of holmes are based cant be compared with modern day detective novels.holmes was the one and only of his type and cant be duplicated.i dont need to make my own movie becoz i already have my full collection of my favourite Holmes Tv series the one that brought Holmes out of the pages-Granada's production-Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes-the best of the best adaptation of DOYLE'S HOLMES ever.

    @cartoonlove9 I don't know which irritates me more -- people complaining the films draw TOO much from the stories or too little. They're films. This interpretation is more accurate than most -- and just an interpretation which itself shouldn't be attacked.

    You have your own opinion but I seriously disagree. I wonder whether you really read the book or not or you just not good at reading between the lines. SH was eccentric. SH was a fighter. & so does Watson. He served in Afghanistan & got injured. What Ritchie did was taking all this elements and multiply them.

  • @WarriorOfStarclan
    @WarriorOfStarclan 12 лет назад

    I'm grateful to the movie because I had not read the books and I kept putting them off for other things. After watching and reading the books, I now enjoy the books profusely but regard both content on two complete opposite sides of the entertainment spectrum. Richie did pull some things out of the books that really signified Holmes area whilst manipulating it to his own standards.
    However the movie was fairly predictable without prior knowledge of the books and that's my only criticism of it.

  • @twint1p
    @twint1p 13 лет назад

    movies are always the writers way to see it. you can't judge he's sherlock holmes just because it doesn't fulfill your vision about holmes. the things richie brings out in movie is what he likes in holmes. what i've seen is that almost all those things appear in the stories but not that much like in the movie. and the rest is his imagination. and there is nothing wrong with that. if you don't like it make your own movie about holmes.

  • @Kilox1000
    @Kilox1000 12 лет назад +2

    and who said it was supposed to be exactly like the books? nobody wants to watch holmes sit around and examine evidence the whole time, people need action. and your acting like the movie disregarded his deduction skills which it obviously didn't.

  • @twint1p
    @twint1p 13 лет назад

    did i say that? i did not mean that. seriously conan doyle's stories were written for a newspaper. if you compare he's stories to someone else's detective stories you actually realize that he's stories is not that good. im now comparing hes books to other detective books, not to the movie. people adored the character "holmes" and that's why it was so successful. same thing with james bond. they are genius in their own way but not that good literature. hope you got my point. i love both of them

  • @melodytannerclark
    @melodytannerclark 13 лет назад +1

    @cartoonlove9 LOL, Robert. you're hilarious! One, psychopaths aren't insane, they simply don't have a conscience. Medication won't help them nor will therapy. Bipolar folk are the opposite, in fact, of psychopaths. This has been lots of fun, but I have to fly. My best to Susan and the new little Downey.

  • @Kilox1000
    @Kilox1000 12 лет назад

    then you don't have to watch the movie.
    this is a much more badass version of holmes who can use his mind and detective skills along with being a pretty good fighter. stop acting like you own the character, the majority of holmes fans like the movies. I read alot of the books before the movie came out and I thought it was great. there have been tons of different adaptations of holes, why is this the one that "rapes doyle's work"? and why are you even watching interview if you hate the movie?

  • @twint1p
    @twint1p 13 лет назад +1

    i've read the books and i think they are little bit too overrated. the idea character idea is fantastic and that's why it was so successful but the stories wasn't that good.

  • @DCLsMusic
    @DCLsMusic 13 лет назад +1

    @maddog2335 Exactly!!! I'm surprised people is so "oh.. Conan Doyle didn't write it this way.." blah blah! Of course not.. this is Guy's interpretation of the story and it's great!! It reminds me of that stupid woman saying that if they were trying to make Watson and Holmes look gay she wouldn't allow the rights for another film.. it is hilarious! Just let people be! and if you don't like it, don't watch it and don't bother... aarrghht!

  • @melodytannerclark

    @DCLsMusic Homophobes who don't like the friendship being important. And Brett purists who don't realize how far from the canon it reached. I'm a big fan of the Brett series, but there are emotional nine year olds who can't accept any perspective other than their own as being acceptable.

    James bond is nothing like sherlock holmes. sure it has some good action scenes but most of them aren't as smart as holmes, and plus he has no deductive skills or mystery. there different.
    You can like your older CSI sherlock versions if you want, but don't say that this "rapes doyles work" thats just insulting to a great new interpretation of holmes.

    Ritchie's movies r Ritchi's Holmes which he made for his own personal amusement.I dont need them.what ritchie brings out in the movie is what he wants Holmes to be rather than what Doyle wrote of Holmes.i dont need to know that becoz its doyle's creation his property, not Ritchie's. So Ill value what the creator the actual writer wrote and wanted of Holmes.

    doyle's stories lift detective stories for the public. sherlock holmes characters are strongly based on poe's auguste dupin's stories. and did you know that agatha christie maked funny about holmes in one of her stories. doyle is too overrated.

  • @tv240
    @tv240 13 лет назад

    u r talking about the THE SOLITARY CYCLIST where Holmes hit one man.there are a few others as well like the THREE GARRIDEBS.but thats not the point.ur impression on holmes is not accurate.but u sound so sure of ur wrong impression that im not sure whether i can convince u otherwise. i dont need to make my own movie becoz i dont like Ritchie's movie.Riitchie has raped the originalas.his impression and vission over Holmes totally sucks.Doyle wrote Holmes for Strand magazine,not for any newspaper.

  • @DarthMessias
    @DarthMessias 7 лет назад +1

    Hearing a person comparing Sherlock Holmes with superheroes is the first sign that popular culture doesn't understand the idea behind the character. Which ultimately led to this disastrous Sherlock Holmes character by Ritchie.
