  • We are proud to present an original song by Ron Larson, a native of Lansing, Iowa, reflecting on the poignant moment of tearing down the iconic Black Hawk Bridge. This bridge, spanning the mighty Mississippi River and connecting Lansing, Iowa to Wisconsin, holds deep historical and emotional significance for the community.
This video, masterfully created by Jody Becker, features Ron Larson as the songwriter, rhythm guitarist, harmonica player, and lead vocalist. Joining him is Rick Drewelow on lead guitar and bass guitar, who also provides backup vocals.
This heartfelt endeavor was inspired by Marlene Duffy, whose passion for preserving the memories of Lansing served as the catalyst for this project. Jody Becker's dedication and creative vision have been instrumental in capturing the essence of this song.
An extended thank you goes out to the love of Ron's life, Mary Kay, whose support and inspiration are woven into the fabric of this project. Additional thanks go to Neil Galema for his invaluable historical knowledge of the river, and Andrew Boddicker, director@ lansingmatters.com, for his guidance and support. We also appreciate the contributions from the Main Street Lansing Community Historical Photo Collection, Betsy Stahl, Katie Hogan Becker, and Jody Becker for their additional photos and video.
We hope that you enjoy the musical journey through time, honoring the legacy of the Black Hawk Bridge and the community it served for so many years.
