  • Legendary BMX rider Stephen Murray was paralyzed from the neck down in 2007 during a double backflip attempt. On our last European tour, we invited him and his family out to the show, and his kids decided to give the Giganta ramp a try. What followed would only happen in a movie -- except this was real life.

    About us:
Nitro Circus is what happens when a group of extremely talented and fearless friends decides to make their hobby into their profession. This crew represents a cross section of everything awesome in action sports: freestyle motocross, BMX, skateboarding, scooter, snowboarding, skiing, BASE jumping, sky diving, and a bunch of stuff that shouldn't be taken down a ramp. Nitro Circus tours the world putting on shows featuring all of the above and more. In our constant quest to always do what we love and push the boundaries of what's possible in action sports, we have some epic crashes and legendary fails, but stick or stack, our only goal is to have fun and entertain the world in the process.

As a person with a disability myself, (spina bifida, same as wheelz) ive been a fan of nitro circus since i discovered him, and, like everyone else, sat staring at my screen thinking "did i just see a guy in a wheelchair jump off a ramp?!?!". Its refreshing to see a group of people that wanted to help him do that and didnt just turn him away, that happens way too often, people want to wrap us up in wool and be like 'you just sit there and be a good boy' when we want the opposite, most of the time anyway. its nice to see things like that, and this. Its nice to see the support nitro circus gives us.

i totally get what you're saying ! hurt my knees so many times back in my 20s and i look up at any athlete who is gone are going trough massive recovery. it give me strength like no other thing in the world. Travis really inspired me to keep pushing. keep on keeping on brother. we keep thinking our greatest enemy is pain or disabilities but it really is our perception. back when it was even worse i used to look at them with envy..that pissed me off, now i look at it with inspiration and it get me fucking pumped !!! I have hydrocephalus it's in the same family as spina bifida I was literally on my death bed when I was diagnosed with it my neurosurgeon did a mri on my brain after I had a CT scan after I broke my nose and the Dr seen the fluid on my brain he referred me to a neurologist I didn't take it serious and when I finally made the appointment to go see the neurologist 2 years later he told me to get my ass straight to the neurosurgeon his exact words and then I started to think maybe I shouldn't have waited so long so I made the appointment with the neurosurgeon and had a MRI done and my brain was completely covered in fluid spinal fluid because I have a inoperable tumor that is blocking the csf aka spinal fluid from going from my brain to my spine I was 33 years old when I found out and two months later on July 2nd 2014 I was having my first brain surgery scariest day of my life but after that surgery it was literally like night and day difference before the surgery I couldn't do anything I couldn't walk more than a block without falling over I had no balance no stability no confidence nothing but after the surgery literally 1 to 2 months after that surgery my life completely changed every single problem I had went away I was a brand new person I could do everything I never could before but unfortunately my brain collapsed started bleeding and formed blood clots so they had to do a 2nd surgery on September 26th 2014 to stop the bleeding and remove the blood clots and put a different shunt in my brain so it wouldn't drain the fluid so fast because that's what caused it to collapse and I was back in the hospital in January two days before my birthday having my 3rd surgery and back in the hospital two weeks after that having my 4th brain surgery I had that one on a Friday and woke up on Monday because they said I had a sezure I don't remember anything about that day or the weekend and then I was back in the hospital a couple months later having my 5th surgery and back again having my 6th and 7th and yep my 8th in less than 2 years I finally had my 9th and final surgery back in 2016 and hopefully I am done but unfortunately I know that I am not because these shunts don't last forever so I will be back in having it replaced oh and I had a massive heart attack at the age of 36 and my main artery the one they call the widow maker was 100% blocked if my gf who is a nurse wasn't with me that day I would be dead she knew I was having my heart attack and took me straight to the hospital the Dr said if I didn't come in when I did if I would have went to bed that night I wouldn't have woke up I'm 38 now and trying to live my life to the fullest but unfortunately this virus kinda put a hold on everything but I guess what I'm trying to say is NEVER GIVE UP no matter what life throws at you just look at yourself in the mirror and say you got this you can do it you can do it sorry for making this so long of a story I could go on but no one is going to read all of this now lol

You just hate to see this type of stuff happen... People left with tragedies for doing what they love... I'm just glad he's okay and I legitimately, from my heart, wish him, his family and anyone who has had life changing accidents the best of luck in life. Stay strong.
