    Very good methods, and the pump wedge is a great tip.
    You can get the glass out a little easier if you remove the screws from the runner bottoms before lowering the glass, and then pull the aft runner forward a little to sit it through the notch in the door frame so that the bottom is inside of the door bottom rather than inline with it. The glass will drop straight out the bottom without forcing or fighting.
    I rebuilt my doors with new skins but was able to reuse the old runners. They seem to need replacing now, over a decade later, unless the mechanism has dried up and seized. I found that using some waxoil on the screw holes and ends of the runners preserved them for longer, preventing the inner steel rusting so quickly. The same worked well on my SIII door tops, the runners lasting in mint condition well beyond the five year point at which I sold them. Grease would work well if you don't have waxoil. It saves redoing the job so often.

      The pump wedge makes life easy when working on doors -I have put a link to the ones I bought on Amazon - at $33 for 3 they are good value and have all sorts of uses!

      Looking at this video, I have a few things in my Amazon cart.... And I now should probably order some door lock cylinders to replace my current ones. The keys are super worn out and the locking mechanisms are not working too well either. I hate to be a part number nazi, but do you happen to have part numbers for the seals and parts you are using? I am going to put together a list of parts and try to make a large order. While I have the doors apart too, I may try to install a Noise Killer sound proofing material. So many things to do.

    The plastic fillers - as you mentioned they have a specific orientation. the broad side is for the windows runners correct?

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  4 года назад

      If you mean the moulded plastic trims that the window channel sits in, then the broad plastic goes to the front of the door frame (otherwise the window will not sit in properly)

      @@BritannicaRestorations so not for the window channel? - looking at mine - i cant see how the channel will fit in the thinner section of the fillers?

      Thanks Mike, your a champion. How much do you think I will need for the 4 doors?

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  6 лет назад +1

      Good question!
      I get 20 x 2M strips at a time
      Tell you what I will have a rough measure tomorrow to work it out
      BUT I have an idea it is 2 strips for the front (per side)
      But the backs are deceiving as you have to take into account the fixed side window
      You CANNOT join bits together!
