The reason Eurostar doesn't want to improve the waiting area in Amsterdam, as that area is only temporary until they terminate at Amsterdam Zuid / South station in the future instead of Amsterdam Centraal station. The Dutch Railways want to run all HSL (High Speed Line) services to Amsterdam Zuid after that station is renovated and expanded for these services, where Eurostar has to built a new waiting area.
Thank you for your comment here. That's very interesting to know. I did a search on google and found info that these plans will start in 2024 and be completed by 2030.
actually, they are improving the waiting area in amsterdam, as a new one will be opened in december this year, which will allow 600 passengers to boad one train instead of 250. Altough it is the dutch government spending the money on it, not eurostar.
Nice, informative upload. I`m looking at taking the Eurostar from Amsterdam to London Xmas. I have taken the train to Paris before and find it a great, convenient way to get into central Paris.
Mm Im a semi regular on the London St Pancras - Amsterdam C route. Some trains are through others only go to/from Brussels Midi (change to/ from a Thalyes express train). In all cases passport control is done for both UK and for Schengen at the departure point (so at St P, or at Amsterdam or at Brussels M). At the arrival station, one merely walks off the train! NB : this relates to immigration NOT customs (which may still apply at arrival).
I've taken the Eurostar train from Brussels to Ashford-Kent and back. When I got to the station from the airport in Brussels, it was almost time for the train to leave and I just had time to buy a ticket. I stayed in Kent a few days and took the train back to Brussels. That was in 2002. As the train was leaving France for the Chunnel, immigrants were climbing the fence around the tracks, to try to board the train.
We are back from a 18 day European trip. KLM LAX to Netherlands was exceptional experience (Premium Comfort) KLM service on board was excellent and food was very good. We are planning a trip to Amsterdam and then over to London and Paris. Love the videos and we are subscribed.
Youre video is nice!👌 I have used the Eurostar a month ago . I went from Rotterdam with the Thalys to Brussel and from Brussel to London with the Eurostar. On the way back to home (to the Netherlands) I had also used the stand premier. It was like a trip by plane but instead u are really in a plane you are i a train. I shall defenitly use the train again
What happens when you arrive in London? Is there passport control and baggage control like at airports upon arrival? is it faster than at airports or you just grab your luggage from train and go away? I have to try this train in the next month :)
Thanks for your comment here. When I made this trip they did the passport/ baggage checks on the Amsterdam side so you definitely need to give yourself enough time before boarding. In London, it does take a little while to walk down the platform given all the people getting off with their luggage, but overall it was pretty fast.
Hi there. It depends on the train you take. Some are direct, some aren't. I'm afraid I've only been on the direct train so far, so can't advise on the stopover.
Hi Guy-Zero, when I took the Eurostar and arrived in London I don't recall any checks (although there may have been a customs bit - I can't remember exactly). It does take some time to get off the platform as there's loads of people.
@@pocketlighthouse Thanks for you quick answer! I'm rather worried since I'll only have 30min to switch to a local train (Kings Cross) because of a strike. Would you say that that is possible?
Travelled on the Lon-Paris numerous times and the most relaxing way to travel, even more so if in Premium Standard. On one occasion travelling to Paris the train broke down in the French countryside and we were stuck for about 3 hours and considering this was a day trip time was withering away. Eventually we got into Paris after changing trains about 4 hours we were due to arrive. Not very happy, as I was travelling with American family I decided to go to the information desk at Gard du Nord to see if we could get a later return journey. Non!!! was the response. Not happy with this I pursued it further until I got an answer from a higher authority, and even then it was a hassle as I also asked for compensation on the delay as it eat 4+ hours into our day trip. Eventually they managed to book us on a later train but unfortunately on Standard Economy, which I was not pleased with. Sorry but the French diplomacy is so negative and arrogant. Apart from this we had a pleasant time in Paris. Having returned home I wrote to Eurostar, London, explained the situation and within 5 working days got a full refund on the whole trip of 5 people. That is what I call superb public relations.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience here. I'm glad in the end Eurostar refunded you the whole amount, and for 5 people too. That's impressive!
Breaking News today (June 2). Looks like the direct Amsterdam-London Eurostar will be suspended for many months effective June 2024 because a new and larger Amsterdam terminal is being built.
Can't remember exactly, but it wasn't straight forward as we rescheduled our tickets from another trip and possibly had to pay extra. Prices fluctuate quite a bit, and I would recommend you book as early as possible.

I understand more about the state of the train here. The snacks are delicious too, wow there is a Kit Kat snack

Hi! I am going in 2 months and i can change my seats. Do you know how you can see if your going forward of backwards?
Hi Jaimie, sorry I don't know the answer to that one I'm afraid.
Hello Daniella! Nice vlog! I've never used Eurostar so I can't really say anything about it.
Hi Maria, thank you for your comment here and I'm glad you find the vlog nice :)
Hi nice video 👍 we are making that trip next week do we go through immigration at Amsterdam Central ? Thanks
Good question! From memory, I believe you only go through passport control at the start of your journey.

@@pocketlighthousehow was the security for bag checks in Amsterdam? Do we have to open our suitcases up?

Nice vlog Daniella! 👍
Thanks so much for saying that Jack :)
Useful-!👍👍👍 One day I really want to take Eurostar to get to the London-👍👍👍😀
It's definitely the way to go! Especially with all the long queues at the airport right now.
After arriving in London can you just leave the station like normal or are there additional checks required that take some time?
Hi Guy-Zero, when I took the Eurostar and arrived in London I don't recall any checks (although there may have been a customs bit - I can't remember exactly). It does take some time to get off the platform as there's loads of people.

Hi do we need to book the tickets 😊in advance?
Yes it's best to book in advance. Tickets prices shoot up the closer to your date of travel.

Are there any single seats in Premier rather than someone next to you
Yes there are. If you look at about the 1 minute mark of this video, these were single seats. I don't know if it's for every Eurostar train though.

Can't remember exactly I'm afraid. Would advise booking tickets well in advance though as prices increase pretty quickly.

There's 2 things I didn't enjoy is when people talk why do they have to talk Loud???and the WiFi connection was garbage
Yup, I totally don't understand why people have to speak so loudly sometimes!
