For the Michael Jackson bar "smooth criminal, quarter flip, one hit, king to a leaner" was speaking about Michael Jackson's music video to smooth criminal where he flipped a quarter, it landed in the jukebox and started playing his hit song smooth criminal where he does his famous stand still lean in his dance routine.... but in the street sense, you think you a smooth criminal that won't go to jail even though the prison has us in a sleeper headlock, you think you can make the quarter of your drugs flip and off that hit of your drugs make your brother who is supposed to be a king, into a addict leaning slumped off the drugs you flipped...Stupid bars
Man this one had me stuck. I’m like:
1. A smooth criminal ducks doing a bid (easy)
2. Quarter + Lean MJ references (got it)
3. Dealing a quarter at a time getting folks hooked is turning a king to a leaner (solid)
4. His Cousin made is money moving weight but then ended up as an addict himself (doubled down on number 3 sharing life experience in how it can happen in the reverse)
But after all that, I was like, “Damn a third conviction in MD is 25 years minimum”. So what if he also meant catching drug charges and ending up strung out on the street after doing 25.

He’s soooo good he can manipulate how he says shit to make it sound soothing to the ear. I don't listen to rap very often. I was into the West Coast stuff in the early '90s (before metal took over my life), but Los is on another level. There's just so much thought put into everything here: lyrically, rhythmically, melodically at times, but he also manages to add storytelling to the mix. It's fucking ridiculous. This is one of the most incredible performances I've ever seen, and I've been privileged enough to witness more than a few.
Oh yeah, the slavery section of the third track is powerful as fuck. The first time I heard it, my jaw dropped. Crazy.
