This house looked WAY better before. Art editing, brighter rugs, window treatments, decor details, and ambient lighting would have been enough to make a huge difference. That new paint color comes across as cold and in need of repainting. The slipcovers look horrible. They could have done so much with what the owners already had.

I love the end result but wish we could have heard the final comments from potential buyers and if it sold.

I quite liked the before, rather than the after. I also live in a Victorian house - I feel it just needed some modifications with regards to some of the decor and paint. It still looked lovely, and some great ideas, but stripped away a little too much of the character in that particular property, in my opinion.

I do not like that you have cut off the last few minutes of the show! You accomplished nothing by doing it!

The home before is beautiful. Less of the horrible dead things and more of the homeowners artwork and it would have sold in a heartbeat.

The new wall color doesn't go with the warmth of the wood, AT ALL. And the parlor looks more like an ice cream parlor with chairs that are impossible to sit on.

To paint over wallpaper is a no no for me, you don’t know how the wallpaper reacts to the wet paint…And TO PAINT OVER WOODWORK IS A TRUE SIN! Aaargh!!

They did neither in this episode. In fact, I've never seen them paint over wallpaper. They remove it before painting.

Depends on the quality and age of the wood and woodwork.

Right - that's why there was a ridge -- they painted those stripes on. It wasn't wallpaper.

Given the period detail in the house, I actually think it looked better before. I agree that they needed to tone down the artwork and quirkier decor pieces (like the boar head and the creepy dolls). But I know the dark and moody design aesthetic is not to everyone's taste. Personally, I like the dark and moody look, especially when you have so much period detail and wood to work with.

Instead of the blue, a green color would have gone better with the stained glass window. It also would have brought out the color of the wood better.

A lot of people dont like green and some people are very superstitious and wont have green in their house!

Never heard of a green superstition before. The comparable house had green and it sold. I also think green would have been a better choice.

This house has gorgeous bones. Better paint colors and removal of artwork is all that’s needed.

The show started in 2009. So must have been at least 10 years ago now. Just goes to show how much interior design trends and tastes can change (and repeat) over time

It should be made illegal to paint over vintage wooden furniture. The screeching white paint on that wooden couch was a crying shame. 😢

The lavender color throughout just doesn't feel right; it's not compatible with the warm nature of the wood.

I never understood this idea of move in ready....dont america's change the colours of the walls to their own taste when they move into a house...are they expecting the sellers to know what colours they will like, a very strange idea! Shame they removed the chandeliers mixing the old with the new colours gives a more ecletic feel because it is an old house!

Why get rid of those timeless rugs? You can lighten up the walls and keep the quality rugs and furnishings.

It pains me when people paint woodwork in an historical home 😢 they should honor the period, not try to make the home "trendy."

If they took down all the pictures, taxidermy, and the dolls it's a nice home.

I don't want to live in dark, but I thought they'd really nailed the room with the Victorian sofa (minus the decor). I really thought I all they needed was a change of artwork and decor. However, the makeover was nice, too, especially on the Victorian sofa. BUT...that other sofa with basically a lavender sheet over it and so many pillows you couldn't sit on it looked like what you'd normally call out as a "what not to do." I also noticed white paint spatters on the woodwork. I suspect a time crunch happened there. I hope you fixed it later?

If you know anything about Victorian homes or appreciate them, you would not have painted it with such light colors. Looks like someone who didn’t know what they were doing. I agree on removing artwork and furniture, especially the dolls. Your target buyer should be someone who can appreciate this house for its historical style and architecture. Quite disappointed.
