Hi Joe, I'm an air traffic controller here in Minneapolis. I can confirm that New Orleans Airport (MSY) is NOT closed. Your flight should get in no problem. Safe travels and thanks for the awesome videos!
I guess he don't have any sense of hummer, I'm sure he making a joke in regards to him saying he mite cove the front of the smoker in stone, funny how some people judge another over what I'm sure was someone being funny, good god. There is more entertainment in comments on you tube then the vidios them self, at least they are longer then such short vidios that only tell half whats going on
I guess I dont get this. I am serious when I say once I build the smoker I will then (instead of siding) cover the whole front and maybe the sides with stone. as in rocks or fake rocks.
JoeandZachSurvival I didn't get it either. What would be funny about rocking in your smoke house? People been doing it for hundreds of years if not thousands. P S I guess he's saying Joe H was trying to make a joke.
love your videos ...about your new stove , Im from Canada and use to live up north above the 60th parallel for 30 yrs. and some times off grid and we always put a shovel full or so of sand in the bottom of a new stove like yours or mostly Air Tight stoves made of tin, ....the rest of the stove after a number of years would be totally shot but the bottom was like new...whenever you clean the ash out you watch that you didn't disturb the sand to much....just thought I would pass it along ...worked for us real well .....
Hey Joe. Have a safe trip to Louisiana. Harvey is suppose to be moving into that state in a few days so be careful sir. Love your videos. So relaxing. You do a lot of work at the Tent and it has and is paying off. Be safe my friend and I am looking forward to videos from Louisiana. God bless.
Use an SOS or Brillo pad, wet, to polish the aluminum. For a final polish, use very fine steel wool and bar soap, wet, or use a wet rag with pumice soap. Lava, will do the trick. I'm am old shop teacher and used this method on the kids projects with great results. The Old Norwegian >
Joe I saw three people asked with no reply and I can't find you answering the question any where.... What model do you have? The scout, hunter, outfitter, or Yukon? If you answered sorry I must have missed it. We are planning a 3 day canoe trip on the Allegheny river in PA this weekend....hope we don't get rained out. Safe travels to you. As always great video keep them coming. I think it's great that you are fortunate to have 4 generations in your family to be together in one lifetime. It's great to see such a strong family. Keep sharing and creating memories they are the most important thing in life!
Sorry, I was flying down here to Louisiana and have not had a ton of time to do both channel comments. I have the Outfitter stove package. Thank you for the nice comment. I have you have a fun and safe canoe trip.
Like T.O.A.G said use some Mothers or I used to use Metal-all to polish out my wheels on my trucks. And, the weather down here in Texas where I am (East Texas) is bad and its moving to the East....so be extra careful on your trip IF you even can fly in.
Hey Joe, Great video as per usual. Always entertaining, kids and I truly enjoy watching them. You can use Never Dull to clean up the water heater. Sold at most automotive stores and Walmart. Cheers!
That's a nice stove and spot on video. I'll have to check them out. We are hoping to get some extra land in a year or two to start prepping for our retirement years.
Joe, looks just like the old one!! I have been looking at their site ever since Jerod and I started watching your videos from the tent. We are definitely going to get one from that company for sure. Going to put it in the bus and add 16"x16" concrete pads to put down on the floor to protect the floor. It will be in the front, we will remove the driver seat and the steering wheel. We have done the measurements to check for clearance and it should work with no problem. Great video again my friend. Juddie
Good looking stove, a clone of the old one. Good thing it was under warranty, if I ever get another I'll know where to go, thanks. You might try venigar on the aluminum.
Great video Joe!! That's one fine quality stove. I can't wait to see it installed at the tent!! I'm also looking forward to seeing how that smokehouse comes out. Thanks for your quality videos!! Keep them coming.
Mothers mag and aluminum polish. Get it in the auto section at Walmart. Some copper anti-seize on the legs will make sure you can get the legs back off when you need to.
FYI: Simple Green makes an aluminum cleaner, specifically targeted for marine and aircraft use. IIRC, it is called Simple Green Extreme. As I understand it, most oven cleaner is not aluminum safe, and will score the surface, some quicker, some slower, but the lye is what scores the surface. Hopefully, your lemons will do the trick. Looking forward to your experience. That hot water tank is a brilliant idea.
Any acid will shine up aluminum. Vinegar is a mild acid The first polishing compound was ammonia mixed with sawdust. To seal it up sprayer with silicone sealant or use rainx to seal the metal pores up. Up metal will dull when exposed to heat. Go for clean instead of shiny
Tartar sauce or cream of tartar? Can't wait to see the smoker build. I need to build one myself since I have some port belly to smoke. Probably going to copy your current one for my first smoker. Thanks for sharing, take care. Colin
if what you said your going to do to the tank doesnt work...barkeepers friend is the best for cleaning and polishing...you can get it just about anywhere...walmart..dollar stores etc :-)
We will be getting 6-12"of rain here now. This will be Harvey's 3rd landfall (Mexico, Texas and Texas) the 2d Texas land fall will have a course that take it about 50-60 west of us as a tropical storm still with 55mph winds. I don't think we will see very much flooding like Texas, that I am happy about. Really not ready for this storm, I've not run my generator since before my heart attack and heart surgery so please pray that it does nothing major here in Central Louisiana.
Thanks Joe . I went back and saw your video you made on Jan 16 2016 and you explained a lot about your stove. I should have gone there first . One more question . Do you use the 12 inch legs or the 22 inch legs ? Thanks
Not even watching the video, I will but, how's it going with and at Melissa (hope I spelled her name correctly) because of the terrible weather? 😟 Hope she and everybody's save...
I am getting this question a lot both here and on the video I posted on the Northern Seclusion channel. she is fine right now but today now it is raining pretty hard. I do not think there will be major flooding but she JUST texted me saying there is a tornado warning right now. I may post a video on all this on my other channel later this evening. Northern Seclusion
Tropical Storm Harvey is suppose to be over Louisiana up till Friday (NOAA info). Mostly southwest slowly tracking northeast (Looks like it will miss New Orleans and just skim by Baton Rogue). Pray it stays away from Melissa and you. Be careful.
Not sure how often you look back at comments for old videos, but I noticed you got the same style of draft as your old stove. I'm just wondering if that some thing you had to ask for? It doesnt seem to be an option as far as I see can see anymore. I sure they both work fine I just like the look way more of the style you have. Thanks
I have no idea. I do have a very nice rocket stove but it really is not something you use to heat a structure. It can be done but that is not at all what i am wanting.
Mine is the middle size of the 3. The Tent is 320 sq ft and that stove heated that with ease even at 30 below. I added the back addition which is an additional 220 sq ft and although it takes longer to heat it, it does keep up but you fill the stove a lot when it is real cold. For a cabin over 350-400 sq ft I would buy the bigger one so I knew I would have no trouble at all if you live in a cold climate like Minnesota.
Joe could this cylinder stove be used in my 100 yr old home? I have a fireplace that might work. Fireplace is too low for my Ben Franklin woodstove for pipes to go up the chimney. Thanks,Gloria
I am sure it could, I would get the Yukon model, it is one size bigger than the one at the Tent. I am not sure what your insurance company would say about it but the would work.
Hope use of lighter fluids, doesn't void all warranties. Break in suggestions as follows, squirt excess amounts shit, stand back strike and throw lit match, build new tent around now existing stoves...lmao:)
I seen the last tent video were said you had a new stove but in this one you say back the old one up an send it back you don't say why you sending it back, I cant see any warranty on a 10 plus year old tin box stove
Is it weird that I feel you're kind of a traitor just throwing out the old stove after she gave you her youth...;D I mean wow, she gets a few age spots and out she goes Joe? Her legs get a little stiff and just trade her in?
I am required to return her to her mother. Lol. I have to send it back. It is sad but they will learn from it. I keep my girls as long as they will have me??? hahaha.
Hi Joe, I'm an air traffic controller here in Minneapolis. I can confirm that New Orleans Airport (MSY) is NOT closed. Your flight should get in no problem. Safe travels and thanks for the awesome videos!
Nice stove, glad they found you a old style door with slide vent...have a safe trip....
Looking good!! Safe travels!
Love getting stoned and watching your videos
Joe H Grow up! Now! For your own sake!
I guess he don't have any sense of hummer, I'm sure he making a joke in regards to him saying he mite cove the front of the smoker in stone, funny how some people judge another over what I'm sure was someone being funny, good god. P S I guess he's saying Joe H was trying to make a joke.
OMG Best Vids on tube, when U 1st said new stove I thought U met a bigger one for more heat but must be that size does the trick.

Good video, was surprised the stove was the same gauge.
Nice to see a company keeping up the quality of a product. Nice stove Joe.

That's a nice stove. I like it. I am looking for a stove for a old cook house on my property. Thanks for sharing.
Good luck with your trip, I live in Alvin TX .... not far from Houston and it's bad.

Looks good!
Can't wait for hunting season!!
Great video Joe! Be safe in LA!
thanks for another great vid Joe. always good to learn a little something. be careful in Louisiana, its not just another storm y"know.

Bar Keepers Friend cleanser will clean the aluminum! It's the best ! We use it on all kinds of things...nice stove!
Hopefully you can make it to Louisiana with no delays. Have fun on your vacation. I'm looking forward to the stove installation Tent video...
Like T.O.A.G said use some Mothers or I used to use Metal-all to polish out my wheels on my trucks. And, the weather down here in Texas where I am (East Texas) is bad and its moving to the East....so be extra careful on your trip IF you even can fly in.

Hi Joe, I have used oven cleaner for this, (spray type) and it has worked well. Thanks for the video and kind regards David Wootton.
Thanks Joe....
Good looking stove, a clone of the old one. Good thing it was under warranty, if I ever get another I'll know where to go, thanks. You might try venigar on the aluminum.
You may want to use some high temp grease on the threads of the legs.
Thanks for all the vids.
Vinegar Joe , shines up nice .
You could clean and polish that aluminum tank to shine like Chrome if you really wanted. Nice little stove. Good idea running heavy stove pipes.

Save the template for a chicken coop.. that'd be a cute one.
Any acid will shine up aluminum. Vinegar is a mild acid

If you have rubbing compound, you could use it on the aluminum.
You could still go and cuddle!
0000 steel wool works great! Looks like stainless though.
Nice!
which model did you get? where did you get the pipe and dampers?
Are they pretty reasonable on the price?
White vinegar and lemon juice
What model did you get?
if what you said your going to do to the tank doesnt work...barkeepers friend is the best for cleaning and polishing...you can get it just about anywhere...walmart..dollar stores etc :-)
We're do you get your stove...very interested in getting one for my shed...love your videos

Please take it easy and lets hope this is over soon.
do you put sand in the bottom of you're stove?
Great video! Will steel wool work for cleaning aluminum? I so, try that.
Is there a way to get the old legs off, it they are stuck? rusted?
I forgot to ask which model you are using?
I believe mine is the Outfitter Stove package. www.cylinderstoves.com/outfitter-stove.html
Thanks Joe
What model is your stove (size)?
I have the Outfitter stove package.
Thank you
Try a drill with a buffer pad , do it outside though as al dust isn't to flash for your lungs .
So which stove did you get Joe , the Yukon or the Outfitter ?
I believe mine is the Outfitter.
Thanks Joe . I went back and saw your video you made on Jan 16 2016 and you explained a lot about your stove. I should have gone there first . One more question . Do you use the 12 inch legs or the 22 inch legs ? Thanks
I needed a wood stove you plan on selling the old one?
Not even watching the video, I will but, how's it going with and at Melissa (hope I spelled her name correctly) because of the terrible weather? 😟 Hope she and everybody's save...
I am getting this question a lot both here and on the video I posted on the Northern Seclusion channel. she is fine right now but today now it is raining pretty hard. Can you put the link im looking to install one in a mobile home...i dont no if i can what you think...

Hey Joe what's the brand of your grill please comment back thank you 😀

It doesnt seem to be an option as far as I see can see anymore. I sure they both work fine I just like the look way more of the style you have. Thanks
They have updated the design, the new design should be more efficient.
Is the reservoir aluminum or stainless steel? If you did not use the reservoir could you use two shelves?
I never thought about that, I will have to read the book, it could very well be stainless. Yes you can do two shelves.
Will there be a deer hunting movie this year?!
How does it compare to a rocket stove of a similar size and type
I have no idea. I do have a very nice rocket stove but it really is not something you use to heat a structure. It can be done but that is not at all what i am wanting.
My husband would like to know which size you ordered and how many square feet does it heat up? What are your thoughts on using it for a small cabin?
Mine is the middle size of the 3. The Tent is 320 sq ft and that stove heated that with ease even at 30 below. I added the back addition which is an additional 220 sq ft and although it takes longer to heat it, it does keep up but you fill the stove a lot when it is real cold. For a cabin over 350-400 sq ft I would buy the bigger one so I knew I would have no trouble at all if you live in a cold climate like Minnesota.
Whys the four wheeler in the garage?
It was raining out earlier in the day.
Are you going to sell the old stove?
he has to return the old stove to the company, as part of their warranty
Joe could this cylinder stove be used in my 100 yr old home? I have a fireplace that might work. Fireplace is too low for my Ben Franklin woodstove for pipes to go up the chimney. Thanks,Gloria

Arnold Romppai He said in the last video it has a lifetime warranty, the factory sent him a replacement.
Why worry about the aluminum water heater if you never use it
Because it looks super cool.
Why do you have to send the old one back for?
Is it weird that I feel you're kind of a traitor just throwing out the old stove after she gave you her youth...;D I mean wow, she gets a few age spots and out she goes Joe? Her legs get a little stiff and just trade her in?
I am required to return her to her mother. Lol. I have to send it back. It is sad but they will learn from it. I keep my girls as long as they will have me??? hahaha.
Throw away a brand new damper because the angle isn't perfect? OCD is treatable you know.
