My experience with testing o1 with a "simple" table data (on postgresql) to CSV format algorithm I asked it to optimize (that has a couple of very obvious things to optimize that are not that hard to do, and a couple that are trickier and probably the reason why is still a TODO) was basically the same as gpt4o.
It did it's reasoning, outputted something that was obviously worst, I asked if x would not actually be worst because of y, and it begun the 4o loop of "yes, you are right!" until I got something fairly similar to what I originally wrote. But, it was the preview version, not the super premium version that in theory is better. ( that I understand is not yet available). So far the tradeoff between the time it takes to output does not do the trick for me at least for "complex" stuff.

Yeah it’s not that great for back and forth for me. I have seen it works better if your initial prompt is detailed with different scenarios and with a lot of detail
