It does crash occasionally on mine too but I would just restart OpenToonz and it would export alright. Though, I would say I'm only exporting png sequences and around 10-20 second animation. If it's happening almost everytime, I can't really offer a solution but this reddit thread might give you an insight. www.reddit.com/r/OpenToonz/comments/i5jrls/constantly_crashing_when_exporting/ That said, I wouldn't really recommend you create an entire animated film in opentoonz as it's really meant for creating a single shot of a scene. It might be best to create different files as you change shots and use an editing software like Hitfilm (which is free as well) to paste it together and do the final rendering there.
Unfortunately, it's not available in render settings even if you install ffmpeg. The only option you can do to output to mp4 is "Fast Render to mp4" which you can find under the Render menu.
Hi there! very helpful video by the way. But im trying to solve another issue and i dont see any videos on this topic. The thing is i have the animation ok, the plugin installed, all the adjustments done, but my rendered video is a white void. The animation isnt there. I suppose is an camera issue, but i dont know hot to fix it. Please help. Thanks in advance.
Hi! You might want to double check whether or not the layer is activated. Check the eye icon above the columns on the Ex-sheet and make sure that the eye is opened. Another thing you can check, on the Output Settings, check the Output Camera and make sure you selected the right camera that captures the animation. Let me know if this helps.
@@OmoeFrame I'm not really sure but this reddit and github post might give you a clue. www.reddit.com/r/OpenToonz/comments/ln2ti0/rendering_showing_blank_white_music_but_no/ or this github.com/opentoonz/opentoonz/issues/4927 I never really had this issue personally so it's hard to pinpoint the issue.
Hey I have exported numerous times before but for some reason when I exported a frame counter appeared in my exported mp4? And it’s blocking a bit of my animation. I have checked the output settings but can’t figure it out. Could you help me out?
Can you tell me what issues you're having? Because saving the file is simply just going to "File -> Save All" or using ctrl+s on your keyboard. Unfortunately that's not really worth making a video because it will belike 5 seconds long. If you have issues in saving, let me know and I will try to find a fix.
Hi! You might not have extended the background frames to the entirety of the sequence. To do that, click the background frame and a little gray thing will appear underneath the frame and pretty much just click and drag that gray thing up to the desired length you want. My other video explained how to do this so check this link for a clear visual explanation. ruclips.net/video/di16ih5oVKc/видео.htmlsi=Z7ZOdgOu7z-MDjS_&t=233 the one i've just discussed is at timestamp 3:53 Let me know if you're still having issues.
Unfortunately Opentoonz is meant to be used for creating small 10-20 sec scenes. If you go longer, you might encounter problems. I would recommend that when doing an animation, split the different scenes and shots into multiple files, render them all separately, and then just stitch them in a video editing software. From my experience in working in an animation studio, that's how we usually do it.
When it comes to animation, simple is best. By default, the brush tool is a solid round brush where you can adjust the width. That should suffice most of the time. However, you can change the way the lines look like by right-clicking the line color on the style window and choosing "Style Editor" A new window will appear and if you click the "Raster" tab, you can choose what brush style you'd like for you lines. Hope this helps.
Video is save but only in my open toonz application… not in my lap top… but images save in my laptop… So will you tell me how to export video from this application to my lap top
I mentioned this in the video but you HAVE to use "Fast Render to mp4" rather than "Render" because the "Render" only exports as an image sequence which is ideal if you need to import it in a video editing software.
Thank you for responding, my first project came out really well. I animated a face over a video taped background. The tricky part is getting the length of the animation to match exactly with the video footage, which is only a frame or two off!
@@citiesstreets7158 Videos are usually 29.997 fps rather than 30fps which is why it tends to be 1 or 2 frames off. Cutting a frame or two shouldn't be noticeable.
Hi! If you go to "Render" -> "Output Settings" you can choose the file type on the "File Settings" on the window that pops up. It's a drop down menu. Let me know if you have more questions.

@@Arnachakma When you render through Render -> Output Settings it will either be on the Opentoonz folder (wherever you set this upon installment) -> Sandbox -> Output or if you created a different project it will be on OpenToonz->Project->(Whatever project name you put) -> Output you can also check where it is when you go to Render -> Output Settings. Under "File Settings" there is a text box there that says "Save In" and on the right there's a button with "..." on it. This should show where the location of the file would be. You can configure this upon installation of OpenToonz. Typically it'll be in My Documents. However, if you're struggling to find it, what you can do is go to Menu-Load Scene and trace the file path there.
You have to download and extract the zip file first and put it in a folder your familiar with. A lot of the times it will be on "Downloads" If you still can't find it, let me know, I'll do my best to help.

I'd be honest with you, I have never encountered this in any of my animations. May I ask what player are you using to play your animations?
I just use mp4 idk if that’s the right answer and have windows.
I have never had this happen either
No I mean are you using windows media player or vlc player? Something along those lines? Where do you play your mp4 files usually?

Some segments don't have any animation at all.

how to rendering animation with transparent background?
It's best to export it as png sequence because you can't really render transparent mp4 videos as it will become black.
