  • Rebuilding a 0-4780 Holley double pumper carb. We'll rebuild one and gives some tips along the way. I always show laying things out in the right order to put it all back together correctly, and I failed to follow my own advice! Made a mistake and its obvious. AED rebuild kits are my go to, but I'll also show you a cheaper one by Edelbrock.

    I’m about to do a rebuild on a Holley double pumper 4150 & I’m not a mechanic, so I get my education from videos like yours! Education is one of the many purposes for the use of social media platforms! Keep up the good work!

    The one thing I never skip when rebuilding a Holley is filling down the main body where the metering plates and base plate contact. Their always warped. Depending on the application I'll remove the choke horn I'll just cut it right off and smooth it out don't have much use for a choke after it's warmed up a bit. After it's installed and running if the engine requires too much idle adjustment and the primary blades uncover the transition slots I'll drill a small hole in each blade to bump up the idle and keep the blades closed enough so it only draws fuel from the idle circuits.

    Muscle Car Solutions The Edelbrock rebuild kit doesn’t come with the flat head screws for the needle and seat so I have to order the screws for my rebuild because the original needle and seat on my Holley 4150 DP has the flathead made onto it. This kit is the only one my auto parts store had so I might have to go ahead and order the AFD kit online or the original Holley kit

    Muscle Car Solutions Hey I bought this kit and changed from the Edelbrock rebuild kit to this AED kit and when I put this kit in my Holley 4150 I used one of the orange gaskets to seal my power valve, will that be fine or do I have to pull the bowl back off and change the seal? Thanks

    Hey, thanks for your tutorial. I have a question about setting the initial float level. My needle and seat does not touch the base of the lever on the float. It's about 3/16" away from the adjustment spot on the float lever.
    I have the center hung floats just like the carb you're working on. So, even if I screw the needle and seat completely into the fuel bowl, the float flops around in the bowl.
    What could I do to remedy this? Thanks for any advice you can give.
    My carb is a Holley 850 double pumper, LIST 4781-2

      I usually do, some folks don’t. Depends on how you want to clean it. Can’t hurt to remove it, clean and replace.

    I am about to rebuild my Holley, It was on the shelf for a few months. When I installed it fuel was spraying out of the accelerator pump and at the heads of the bowel bolts, not to mention the rail inlets. Does too much fuel pressure damage seals?

    I follow you to the T and was very happy good video . but at my finish a spring and ball that looks like a bullet was laying on my table. Found out it is a carb detent spring for choke. Would you know where goes and how?

    You missed the gasket that goes under the squirter. You put the top one on but not the bottom.

    I have a question...Im rebuilding a Holley DBL Pump 4150. Im planning on changing the primary accelerator pump from a 30cc to a 50cc pump. Do I need to change both pumps? Or can I leave a 30cc on the secondary and just go with one 50cc pump on the primary?

    • @MuscleCarSolutions
      @MuscleCarSolutions  Год назад

      The question is why? Why do you think you need a bigger shot or fuel? It’s relevant to knowing if you need it and the bigger shot on the secondary side as well. You ask a great question. Just need to figure out if you’re on the correct path.

    Great video!
    I have a 4777 with the choke horn milled off.
    We used it for pavement circle track racing for a while then i put it on my street engines.
    4 weeks ago it was running fine on the street then i pulled the engine to do a new engine.
    It went back onto a pavement modified for 1 race and now back on the van with the new engine....
    My issue is now it will not idle below 1700 rpm.
    Completely rebuilt doing exactly how your video shows.... especially the idle transfer slots!
    Would you have any ideas where to look?
    I put an edelbrock 600cfm carb on and it.idles right away down to 700 rpm.
    Im wondering if the butterfly shafts are letting air through as that is the only thing i have not touched

      You have a vacuum leak!

    • @nwmod39
      @nwmod39 8 месяцев назад

      @MuscleCarSolutions yes but do you think it could leak enough through the throttle shafts to idle that high?
      That is the only thing I have not replace on this.

    • @MuscleCarSolutions
      @MuscleCarSolutions  8 месяцев назад

      @nwmod39 that kind of thing doesn’t happen all of a sudden. Time to look elsewhere for that leak.

      Under the squirter nozzle. Ball first, then weight, then gasket and nozzle.

    Hello how are you today i could be doing better so heres my problem i have a holly carb built by motorcraft im not even sure what kind of carb it is as far as it being a 4150 or which ever kind is, well here goes nothing i just got this ford f-350 flat bed with a 400 cc motor when i got it it wasnt running at all but i rocked the motor and it free'd up and it started to rotate freely my problem is when i tried to start it it fired up but it was reving up to like 7000 or even 8000 rpm and it would not idle down for the life of me, it sounds like and feels like its getting way to much fuel so i proceeded to adjust the air fuel mixture screws but after looking everywhere on the carb i couldn't find it any where on the carb then i figured out the air fuel mixture is adjustable by adjusting the electric choke on the passenger side of the carb but that didn't work it was still getting way to much fuel still so the next thing i tried to do adjust the float settings on the forward and rear float bowls snd it was alot dark outside and i didn't have much light to work with h high 7hhhy6yyy6gggghgf he's did dsßaàDf good wg All àaaaààasßAàaaaaaaqq at AaaaaaAapaà908

      Your throttle is stuck wide open. Nothing idles at 7000 rpm. And if a 400 Ford turned that high, it would have shot the piston and rods out the side of the block.
