- Every night I would get an alert from my driveway security camera, and at first I was a bit annoyed, but then I found myself looking forward to the evening alert. And then inspiration struck, in the form of my wife giving me this great idea. What transpired has turned into the best part of an otherwise dreary pandemic summer.

I did. He's a super sweet kid. After a rain storm had washed the track away, i came out and he was drawing on my driveway with chalk. So I asked him what he was doing. He said "I'm drawing a racetrack for you"

I was getting ready to just blast you good sir..... then you surprised me. Good on you mate. You know what would be really cool? If that kid grows up and becomes a motocross star.
My neighbor ran a small daycare. For years I'd sleep all day as I was working graveyard shifts on the San Diego police department. Hearing the noise of children's voices while I was sleeping allowed me to better dream of my childhood. My neighbor always apologized for their noise but I told her it made my life much better than what I was experiencing all those violence filled nights on the PD.
From one tired old cop to another, thank you for your service! And, I used to grab and hold onto those things that gave me peace !

Either way, I thank you for your kind response as there are a lot of good to very good law enforcement personnel that get unjustly criticized because of the action of a few. I love how it stated with the kid on a Balance bike, and ended with him on a pedal bike.
I noticed that too! He improved and mom and dad were like “time to take out your big boy bike.”
Those balance bikes are such a good alternative to training wheels
yeah that is pretty cool, the music was pretty uplifting too, it was really cool to see all the other neighborhood riders and striders get in on it
@@TheYardninja Yeah, my son has one too. Balancing is the hardest part, not pedaling. It should be the main focus when learning. Training wheels take that away. I saw an older kid with training wheels. They were both firmly planted on the ground, and when he pedals, his body is all over the place. Gonna take forever to figure out balancing with that habit.
I needed this story. Imagine if the evening news was filled with stories like this.

I was totally expecting a "Hey you kids get off my lawn" moment.
Its all fun and games until one of those kids falls and breaks a bone or anything with medical cost or long term issues. Then the parents file a police report and being sued in court for damages that happened on his property. I like these fun things but I know what can happen. My neighbor had the paper girl fall and break her leg on some ice on their driveway, sued and won 55K.

He figured out various ways to use the available space to construct a track that was fun and challenging, and then sat down and spent time chalking it in and adding little details like the curbs, images, and text. You, on the other hand, simply wrote a derisive comment. I know who I'd rather hang out with...

I think he’s hoping for that very thing. We might not all come up with a complete list of benefits, but instinctively we know this is a good thing. The animal kingdom knows the importance of play.
This so totally awesome remindes me off my childhood when we had a neighbor who slowly built us a small soccer field behind his property, all the community kids would come to play there instead of being inside playing video games, good times with all my neighbor kids, not so shortly but sadly he passed away and the house was sold and the new owners fenced up the whole field and took everything away and all the fun was taken from us😞, miss you old man rest in paradise Mr. Aaron

When I was little we had a neighbor in New Jersey who built an elaborate kid-sized brick castle for the neighborhood kids. There weren't any actual rooms, just terraces, walkways & such. We had such a blast there. I hope that man is living an eternal life of happiness in heaven.

My father gave full sized candy bars every year. The year he passed away, 2012, I spent $200 bucks on candy to give away at his house. (There were leftovers) He had been doing that so long that third generation trick or treaters came by. It was a beautiful evening. Thanks Dad. :)
