I feel like you're really tempting fate with these direct comparisons. I love the stuff that onepagerules and other creators are making, but with the way gw swings its dick around I'd rather not see these smaller companies take any heat
Here's the thing, Game mechanics and rules are not entitled to copyright protection. And OPR makes their own models and designed their own rules so GW has no grounds. Yes there may be some likeness, but there is no IP infringement. If there was GW have already struck. OPR is amazing and I love everything they are doing.
They look awesome bro. Tired of the old models. I kit bashed some updated saurus knights using a drakespawn kit, a blood bowl team, and bits from the original knights. It was like 120 bucks for 6 of them 🤣 they look good but it's kind of ridiculous. Could've just bought and printed an entire army.
Well, once you take in account you can print your minis while you are at work, doing something else (painting the one you printed ?), cleaning/curing a batch while the other is printing,... In fact, it can be pretty quick, especially with pre-supporter files.
Yes, gw has some models they charge a ton for. They have Single models that aren't anything that special that cost the same or more than an entire 3d printer setup with resin and all.
On your assumption about the unit size: Saurus Warriors actually weren't updated since 6th edition Warhammer Fantasy (which is roughly 18 years). In 6th, a rank was made of 4 models (changed to 5 in 7th) so all boxes from this time were made as multiples of 4: 16 Saurus Warriors, 8 Saurus Knights, 16 Chaos Warriors, 16 Dryads etc etc. Everytime you see a unit that comes in a multiple of 4 you know, GW hasn't touched this unit for over a decade.
great video. I loved my gw models and game for a long time - but nowadays (Post covid) - none of my friends play 40k/AOS anymore - we got tired of the race to keep buying books, power creep and needing the newest models. Now - we use OPR and play with what we want.
I noticed that the OnePageRules models look very similar to the Total War in-game models, so it's nice if you want a physical version of your in-game Lizardman army
GW: $440 + $40-50 for the Seraphon book. OPR: $78, leaving $362 for a 3D printer and resin, which if you're going the economical route will really only cost you about $200ish, which after the initial investment becomes significantly less expensive for future armies. Plus the OPR rule set is more fun, because it's easier to get into.
Wow. This is my first look at these OPR minis. Amazing. I have been on the fence about buying seraphon forever just to paint but for every awesome sculpt there are like 5 terrible ones. Unfortunately I don't see myself dealing with troubleshooting a 3d printer in the next decade or so until they are completely ridiculously user friendly. Maybe I will find someone to print these bad boys for me.
Honestly, my experience has been pretty solid; I'm not a complete luddite, but I don't have a lot of patience with troubleshooting, and the Elegoo Mars 2 Mono I got a few months back worked right out of the box for me, and it only took maybe three print runs to figure out settings that worked for what I needed. I'm currently working on a couple of small OPR armies, Alien Hives and Battle Sisters, and they're pretty great. 😁
About to dive into OPR. Will still be using my Warhammer models but damn those OPR lizardmen are sharp. If this game clicks and I get into it deep enough I may have to start a new army up.
I can't believe the hate they are throwing at fan-made video producers. I mean, it's basically free advertising for their products. And the Cursed City fiasco is head-scratching as well.

The one thing that people always leave out of these types of videos is time. Time is the only currency you cannot get more of and thus needs to be accounted for. While i am a patreon of OPR I still buy GW models. It is far quicker for me to build and clean mold lines and have something to paint vs 3d printing a model. I know time is valued differently by everyone but it should still be accounted for and listed alongside the dollar values.
You can get the Atlas support in the Discord without being a Patreon. The 3d Support section of the discord is open to anyone who comes in. Just for anyone who's having problems out there.
My one big thing with the OPR lizards are a lack of musician and standard haha. Also, a part of the posing and number of models with the old saurus models is that they needed to rank up base to base in rectangle formations. A unit of 8 cavalry or 16 infantry, arranged 4 wide at the front, wasn't unusual in the game when the models came out. GW has since standardized units across the games at 3/5/10 unit sizes Also, their Blood Bowl line has consistently been knocking it out since the relaunch, for whatever reason
Great video. I'm saving money for a 3d resin printer now. Have you had a chance to check out scale 75 instant color line? Supposed to be better than gw contrast colors. Keep up the good work
@@gaminggeek241 they launched it via kickstarter, works pretty much like Contrast, but even in the campaign they didn't overpromise like the stupid GW hype, and they're cheaper, like decent, not extortion prices. They're not 1:1 equivalent though, they have their own color palette. They also have primer sprays with it. Worth a look.
I didn't see Claybeast Creation get covered, but he does some amazing Starscales that work as proxies, and have about the same coverage of the Seraphon as OPR
Is resign, that can be cleaned with water, have less quality? Or is there a reason you want to use the resign you have to cure with uv rays? Also I would love to see the Core Space game played using the Aliens models from Nemesis or the equivalent
Water Washable resin is usually not as strong (can be brittle) and or flexible as resins that must be washed with a degreaser like LAawesome or IPA, it also needs to be cured with a UV lamp. A Wash n' Cure takes care of both and you can use a degreaser if IPA is not around or preferences
I have used water washable resin and like lordnovas says, it isn't as strong. But as long as you aren't dropping your minis, I think it is fine. It is definitely much easier to work with but you still need to cure with UV light.
I am currently printing a Battle Sisters army from onepagerules , defiantly less detailed simpler figures than GW BUT I like the simpler style , great Nuns with guns vib :)
I printed a Sons of Behemet army for less then 100 bucks including files, printing a Slaves of darkness army now and a Iron Jaws army after that. I printed 15 blight kings for less then $40 they are 5 for $65. I plan to print even more armies. I play in my garage with friends but until their prices go way down on models they will not be receiving any money from me. I still buy battletomes and the rules just not the models. GW is in trouble when it comes to 3d printing and they know it. Just choose not to change.

I recently grabbed the qidi 6.0 pro resin printer. Good printer. if you find their FEP to be a little sticky, get some crc dry ptfe spray, comes in a green bottle and is sold on amazon. I had a bunch of presupported models from titan forge failing until I used that. The models would constantly pull away from the thin supports, but after I put that spray on, I can print anything easily.
Yeah, I have a EPAX FEP on there and nothing sticks on it. OPR Discord helped me crank up my exposure time to 14 seconds and that solved my printing problems. Does the 6.0 have a monochrome screen?
@@gaminggeek241 14 seconds? Did that help? Doesn't that cause the resin to stick to the fep even more? I spoke with qidi tech directly and they didn't recommend those high exposure times unless the resin really needed it. The 6.0 is still an RGB screen, but with the default 6 second exposure in chitubox, all my prints come out well formed with good detail, just the issue I had was that every time I was printing when it lifted it sounded like a big piece of velcro being opened. It was obvious that the print was sticking to the FEP more than it should. I never had any issues with the supports sticking to the build plate, That was always solid, but what was happening was because of that stickiness combined with the thin long supports that some creators like Titan forge use, the actual model was just being ripped off the supports. If you've worked with those supports you know how easy it is to clean those up, the supports generally tear away very easily. Any print I was doing with medium supports generally came out fine, but that required me to resupport all those files which really increased the time necessary to print them.
@@crossmr My default was 8 seconds but the thin connection to the supports weren't strong enough so like you, the print was lifting off of the supports. So when I increased to 14 seconds, everything came out fine. I still had a few failures but added some extra supports at those problem spots that fixed it. The EPAX FEP works great for me as I still hear the print lifting off of it but not as bad as the original FEP that came with the machine.
@@gaminggeek241 If you continue to have some failures, I'll recommend the spray, CRC 03044 Dry PTFE Lubricating Spray. You just dry out your vat, give it a couple of light coats until you have the fep well covered and then let it dry for 24 hours. Gently wipe it out and then you're good to go. Completely eliminated the lifting sound for me and stuff prints much better. Doesn't seem to interfere with the resin at all so far. The guide I read on it also suggested that your FEP would last longer since it reduces wear and tear on the fep itself, the guy who wrote it said he used his FEP about 4x longer after starting to use that stuff.
@@gaminggeek241 Yeah I realized when I went back and watch some of your other videos. Love that Warcraft look. I just brought a 3D printer yesterday, and signed up for their late kickstarter. Thanks
I just started with wargaming, OPR and 3d printing, are these OPR models scaled up in size? mine seem to be way smaller once printed and unpainted. Thnx!
They seem to be the same scale as the GW models, as you can compare in the video, side-by-side. You can always scale up if you want them to be larger--one of the many benefits of printing!
GW should make it's own 3D printing subscription. Than offer authorization for people who can 3d print on demand to become authorized GW printers to ensure quality and no offshoot models. Than they can do some limited runs as physical models only and be happy for the rest of the time.
I'm super bias here as Lizardmen were my original WH:F army, thought they looked great and all that, but when you did that side by side comparison... man they're pretty bad. OPR all the way.
Ok, first, not really defending GW here, I really like the OPR sculpts, but the reason the posing on the GW miniatures is the way it is, if you put the nice dynamic miniatures on square bases and try and form ranks with them like 9th ed Warhammer Fantasy you are going to have a hard time. That's it, figured I'd hit on that point.
So for the price of one army I could, potentially, buy 2 printer setups and two armies to print up and play with. Damn I need to really research resin printing and safety.
I'm very much a casual player, OPRs are interesting for the rulesets, incredibly accessible, but myself and I imagine most people are not going to have a 3D printer or expense for one. GWs sprus are dated but I'm still going to buy box and not make my own
Geez! I love the Seraphon and was willing to endure the mediocre minis to field them, but those OPR prints are vastly superior in every way. I'll keep buying books from GW, but I'm not going to buy another Seraphon battleline unit from them again.

What a good time to Show this, There is more than gw/warhammer..
And ruleswise, most of it is better too
Always love seeing OPR evangelized!
I am surprised at how much I enjoyed watching you paint and I picked up a few new tricks I need to try out, thank you !
If you are looking for something more SciFi, there are also the Raygun Raptors on myminifactory ($29.99 for the whole army) - which work with the One Page Rules for Human Defense Force or Soul Snatchers (Ogres / Brutes = Saurian Crocodiles)
I love how excited you are about OPR. i subbed to the patreon.
Man these are the kinds of things that make me want to get a filament and resin printer to make these kind of awsome things for me and my bros
This was an excellent video. Thank you. I have bought all 3 of OPR's armies and will soon start printing them. Love your paintjobs btw
I literally laughed out loud at the price comparisons. Awesome job!
Yes, gw has some models they charge a ton for.
They have Single models that aren't anything that special that cost the same or more than an entire 3d printer setup with resin and all.
Awesome video, as always! You really pulled out all the stops making this one!
Oh, that's helpful to know. I was wondering about that!
@@gaminggeek241 You are welcome =)
great video.
I loved my gw models and game for a long time - but nowadays (Post covid) - none of my friends play 40k/AOS anymore - we got tired of the race to keep buying books, power creep and needing the newest models.
Now - we use OPR and play with what we want.
I noticed that the OnePageRules models look very similar to the Total War in-game models, so it's nice if you want a physical version of your in-game Lizardman army
exactly, new Kroxigor models were revealed and they look not even 10% like the awesome Total War ones while OPR's versions look the exact same
@@Miki-hk6vy tbf they're not supposed to look like the Total War versions
GW: $440 + $40-50 for the Seraphon book.
OPR: $78, leaving $362 for a 3D printer and resin, which if you're going the economical route will really only cost you about $200ish, which after the initial investment becomes significantly less expensive for future armies.
Plus the OPR rule set is more fun, because it's easier to get into.
Also you would have to buy at least two books to play AoS or 40K.
Might also be three, if a points update book exists. Another 100,- or so on top.
@@Gnabba And you have to buy those books over again every time they make a new edition of the game, which for 40k has been fairly frequent.
Just a heads up on something that I suspect that you already know about - the pterodactyls from OPR are coming out in May.
Yeah, I saw those too on the Patrons-only update. Looking forward to that legendary model!
Those are so cool! They look like they are heavily inspired by total warhammer lizardmen units.
About to dive into OPR. Will still be using my Warhammer models but damn those OPR lizardmen are sharp. If this game clicks and I get into it deep enough I may have to start a new army up.
I'm definitely getting the entire OPR lizard men range, since they'll have a 70% patreon discount during October. That's gonna be fun!
Oh Games Wreckshop just said they hate their customers.
3rd party and 3d printers us the way to Warhammer now.
I can't believe the hate they are throwing at fan-made video producers. I mean, it's basically free advertising for their products. And the Cursed City fiasco is head-scratching as well.

You rock dude! Please do more of this!
You sir, just earned yourself a subscriber. I'm not a big fan of the One Page Rules rules themselves, I think they can be vastly improved with some tweaking, but I'm all for the concepts.
You earned a subscription for this video. Really good work!
Do you plan to make a Bretonnia army at any point (or HeroQuest game)? I've made many slt units for the army I could send you if you wanted to review.
Well that's why I just buy form OPR because I don have space or ventilation for a 3d printer
You can get the Atlas support in the Discord without being a Patreon. The 3d Support section of the discord is open to anyone who comes in. Just for anyone who's having problems out there.
Good to know!
GW has since standardized units across the games at 3/5/10 unit sizes
Also, their Blood Bowl line has consistently been knocking it out since the relaunch, for whatever reason
The kroxigors gave me gamezone direwolf flashbacks.
Great video. I'm saving money for a 3d resin printer now. Have you had a chance to check out scale 75 instant color line? Supposed to be better than gw contrast colors. Keep up the good work
I'll have to check out that color line--I haven't heard of it but will research.
Damn that OPR army looks good. The Saurus Knights make me want to see if he can do DE as well.
quick question, where are those 2 building models with the blue roofs from? They are gorgeous
hi i was wondering the dimensions for OPR minis? i think i printed mine too small.
Awesome paint jobs!
I have the same printer and I LOVE it. 2k screen is good enough!
Absolutely! No need to upgrade IMHO!
Thank you so much! Let the Age of Fantasy come back!
So Sauri GW... sooooo sauriiiiiiiii......but where do you get the rules for each army?
Dammit... the Seraphon are my favorite faction from AoS... this makes me want to get a 3D printer so I can print these Saurians out
I am currently printing a Battle Sisters army from onepagerules , defiantly less detailed simpler figures than GW BUT I like the simpler style , great Nuns with guns vib :)
Very good video! ive been sleeping on 3d printing
Can someone tell me where to find the tower and house? I'd love to print those for a table.

That's great! Do you have links to the files you used? I'm particularly interested in the Iron Jaws. Thanks!
The army looks great.
Wow thank you, I really think I buy a 3D printer.. That's glorious!
All those armys need a new update and I don't understand why GW doesn't do that..
I also have a Qidi Shadow 5.5s. What changes did you have to make to make the OPR minis print right?
I had to change my exposure time to 14s (up from 8s). Otherwise, the print separates from the presupports.
@@gaminggeek241 Thanks!
The GW Lizardmen are very very old. They are older than "last fantasy update". The Blitzbowl models are new, so they are proportioned correctly.
Thank you very much for the video, is there a guide on what base sizes the Saurian army should be placed on?
Most units are on 32mm and the Skinks/Geckos are on 25mm. The Kroxigors/Gators are on 50mm. I have created files to 3D print here: www.thingiverse.com/thing:4835223
Are you going to be doing another one of these? :) Another cool company is Archvillain Games, they also have a pateron and all each month is a cool new theme, You can easily make armies out of alot of their stuff and super cool style :-) or just for some amazing proxies for other games. No rules but can get DnD rules for them though more meant for dnd but easily can be used for war gaming or in my case mostly painting and cool dioramas
picking up the carnosaur by the tail gave me so much anxiety
Thank you for this video. After watching I picked up their entire Lizardmen army. How did you do the skin and scales for the Kroxigor?
I used Dark Angels Green Contrast for the skin and Skeleton Horde (or Seraphim Sepia wash) for the underbelly. Then I just used black paint for the spikes on the back. Hope that helps!
@@gaminggeek241 Thank you for the quick response. I enjoy your speed painting approach while still getting excellent table top results. Cuts down on the hordes of grey plastic I have sitting around.
@@malcolmreynolds4365 Definitely! I used to spend hours painting each model and then realized I would never get to playing anything so had to speed up my painting. Totally worth it!
Great work on these, thanks for the video.
Great paint job!
@@crossmr Ordered! How often do you have to recoat?

fantastic video, and you got yourself a subscriber
Thanks for the sub!
Is good to have options in quality and price to do with your games and money as you see fit :)
I mean the model range needs a refresh, the plastic kits for seraphon are over 20 years old I think. There are very few current miniatures.

I have two Prusa MK3Ss and a Mini for my FDM. My resin printer is a QIDI Shadow 5.5S (clone of the OG Elegoo Mars).
Do you still think the Seraphon army isn’t up to snuff with the update
wow this is how i wanna paint my lizardmen, what paints did you used for the kroxigors?
I used Dark Angels Green with a fade.
I'm not going to lie the small models look great but I definitely prefer my GW carnosaur and bastilodon
GW should make it's own 3D printing subscription. Than offer authorization for people who can 3d print on demand to become authorized GW printers to ensure quality and no offshoot models. Than they can do some limited runs as physical models only and be happy for the rest of the time.
3D printing ftw.
I'm super bias here as Lizardmen were my original WH:F army, thought they looked great and all that, but when you did that side by side comparison... man they're pretty bad. OPR all the way.
This is a great concept idea!
Yeah.... the GW seraphon is super old and needs a update... unlike the Bloodbowl/Blitzbowl models which are updated and new
I have heard rumors that GW is going to update the Seraphon but don't know any details.
@@gaminggeek241 that would be super sweet
Ok, first, not really defending GW here, I really like the OPR sculpts, but the reason the posing on the GW miniatures is the way it is, if you put the nice dynamic miniatures on square bases and try and form ranks with them like 9th ed Warhammer Fantasy you are going to have a hard time. That's it, figured I'd hit on that point.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I heard rumors that they are bringing back WH Fantasy. Have you heard anything about it?
So for the price of one army I could, potentially, buy 2 printer setups and two armies to print up and play with. Damn I need to really research resin printing and safety.

you had me at squats
I'm very much a casual player, OPRs are interesting for the rulesets, incredibly accessible, but myself and I imagine most people are not going to have a 3D printer or expense for one. GWs sprus are dated but I'm still going to buy box and not make my own
Actually the problem of the numbers is because the rules changed, they use to be in packs of 16 saurus, making a square of 4x4 in Warhammer battle
Geez! I love the Seraphon and was willing to endure the mediocre minis to field them, but those OPR prints are vastly superior in every way. I'll keep buying books from GW, but I'm not going to buy another Seraphon battleline unit from them again.
Wait till you read the OPR books
Oh dear… that’s a considerable difference in quality.
How do they stack up to Mantics salamanders?
I don't have any of Mantic's salamanders but I've heard others use the models as Seraphon. In fact, you can use most of Mantic's line as a cheaper option for GW games if you don't want to 3D print.
what do you use as your bases do you 3d print yours and buy them? all my 3d printed one end up warped
Do you use an FDM or Resin printer to print the bases? I use FDM and they come out fine. Otherwise, you can buy bases at the correct size online.

Which colour did you use on the kroxigors? Terradon Turquoise?
I used Seraphim Sepia for the belly (you can also use Skeleton Horde instead) and Dark Angels Green Contrast for the top. I thinned it a little for the edges where it meets the belly and used full strength for the top.
@@gaminggeek241 Thanks, luckily i have both :) So the dark spikes on the back is from the full dose of Dark angels, no cheeky tricks like the spikes on the Saurus warriors?
@@martinandersen1251 I did paint the spikes with regular black (craft paint) just to make them different from the green. But you should see if you like it green before going that route.
@@gaminggeek241 I can't seem to hit the color at all, did you prime them white or grey? I did some tests on fail prints, painting them without priming (using grey resin), they turn out very matt compared to the very vibrant white-primed minis. My Dark angels green seems to have two settings, darker than the depths of hell (right from the pod) or basically working as a shader where only crevices get any color (60-40 paint majority). Can you tell any difference in color when you see the video compared to having it on the table?
@@martinandersen1251 I primed in white. The video is fairly accurate to what is on the table. I used the watered down version on the edges and straight out of the pot on top, helping with the gradation between the two. Might take some practice to get the flow down right.
