"The next time we see each other, we'll talk about your mother" - Ned Stark The next time Jon Snow meets Ned is his statue in the crypt of Winterfell, which is where Samwell told Jon about his mother. Incredible.

+FTjack AoE7AoT I dont exactly understand how it was the reason for suffering of the entire family. Sure, Jon was hurt but everything else started when Bran was pushed out of the window.
***** i guess Karma, the Starks are very pious and honorable people, so for them to go against their own promises can cause great demise, like Robb did. Maester Aemon's dialogue, "Targaryen, alone in the world. It's a terrible thing." And the popping up of Jon Snow in the next scene. I can not get over that scene. R + L = J 👯
Even in the first episode, when Ned executes that Night's watch deserter. When he says the words, "the rightful King of the seven kingdoms, the camera pans to Jon telling Bran to not look away"
+jorgemtz05 Cant remember if it was in the books as well, but if not these lines were the best written material the show ever did. "If the day shall come when your Lord father was forced to choose between honor on one hand and those he loved on the other. What we he do?" Definitely a cue to Eddard's promise to Lyanna. Eddard chose his love for his sister than his own honor.
+John Khantzian Yup. I've watched that Aemon & Jon scene a few times before but never made the connection to Ned's promise to Lyanna - until this video. Obviously I understood it in the context of Ned choosing his daughters' safety over his honor, but totally missed the anvil of the very first time he chose love (Lyanna & Jon) over his honor. D'oh!
Wow, this makes more sense. I thought Melisandre meant promised by the Red God, and she did mean that but it actually refers to Ned's promise to Lyanna.
yeah. we gotta keep in mind all of this only matters if lyanna and rhaegar got married, which we still don't know for sure yet. if not, he's still a bastard even though both his parents are royalty and has no claim to any throne. also, the only person alive who knows jon is lyanna's son is bran and where is he in all this?
@@godemperorofmankind3.091 everyone except daenerys, who had 2 dragons and could obliterate every stark and their army if she didn’t take the reveal kindly…
@@debasegrog5153 what evidence did she have that Tyrion would blab? her only real goal by telling him was to turn him to jon's side insted of Dany's. Also if dany really murders her love over something as small as that that just proves Sansa's point that shes an unworthy mad queen.
Ned had a reason to keep it a secret, and Sansa had a reason to tell. Besides, Dany didn’t learn about Jon from Sansa, she learned it from Jon himself.
1. "You know nothing Jon Snow" = Jon Snow is unaware of his true lineage. 2. Ned Stark refuses King Robert's command to kill Daenerys = Ned Stark has a soft spot for Targaryen children.
+Yash Arora As a High Lord and very pragmatic man (along with idealistic, yes); I don't think that Ned would have gone to the lengths to protect Dany's child if he didn't have another Targaryen child in mind. The view back then held by most of the council that the death of one person (Dany) would prevent the deaths of so many more...that view, while distasteful to our modern sensibilities, would have been no big deal back in medieval times. Ned has thousands of people to look after in the north. He would know that at times he has to seek out the best result for the many where a few may suffer. Stability is crucial to maintaining balance, peace, and prosperity. Especially given that Ned and his fellow Lords were no strangers to civil war. A repeat of Robert's rebellion would have been the end for many of them; and for many of their people. Modern liberty/liberal thought in the Western world has rejected sacrificing "one for the many" as unnecessary. But Westeros and Essos have not anywhere near reached that type of enlightenment yet. Ned's defense of a likely pretender to the throne, to the point of defying a king who has close to absolute power, which in turn puts Ned's immediate family at risk; makes....zero sense. None. Zip. The number of children threatened to be killed could have been a hundred times that number and the high Lords of Westeros (including idealistic Ned) would have breathed a sigh of relief that that was the limit to the carnage. Make someone very close to Ned a Targaryan though; add in a promise made by a very honourable man; and suddenly the words and actions that Ned employs actually make sense. Should he have been more brutal with Cersei? Yes! But this is showing his weakness as someone who wasn't raised to rule. He thought that she was more honourable than she was; he felt sorry for her that Robert had been an ass for their entire marriage; and yes, he wasn't fond of killing children IF there was another way. And he did ruin everything...pretty much. But Trevor's comment is bang on.
+Adrian Gofredo So true, I can't stand when people hate on Ned (usually Stannis fans). Ned is a true hero in every sense. he tried to do right by his family, the realm, and by children that he doesn't know. Stannis is jealous of Ned because of what happened at the siege of Storm's End, and during the Greyjoy Rebellion. But it's not Ned's fault that the Tyrell's yielded to him. And it's not his fault that Robert chose him to take the glory at Pike while Stannis led the "true battle". Stannis is just jealous that Robert treated Ned like a brother, and always overlooked Stannis. Same reason he has contempt for Renly, Robert gave him Storm's End ahead of Stannis. Alot of Stannis' views of the world are made through the lens of all the ways that Robert wronged him (which he did). In summary, Ned is that dude :)
In the books its crystal clear when Daenerys in the House of the Undying sees Rhaegar and Lyanna and a baby in one of the rooms. "Will you write a song for him?" -asks Lyanna. And Rhaegar responds "He is the prince that was promised his song is the song of Ice and Fire". Jon IS the main character of the story, no matter how much you love dwarves, kingslayers, knights, lords etc :) ASOIAF is about Jon Targaryen.
But that's wrong, that's a vision of Rhaegar talking with his wife Elia about his newborn son Aegon. There Rhaegar thought Aegon was the promised prince of the Azor Ahai prophecy,he says that the dragon has three heads so he must have a third son, however his wife was weak and could die from another pregnancy. The only moment Dany saw something related to Lyanna was when the blue flower sprouted on the wall representing Jon in the Wall.
That is true..but I've also read from major fans of the book that Aegon was still alive and that his body was switched with a young peasant boy whom gets killed by the mountain instead. I believe it's in another book DOD where Tyrion comes across him and notes how his eyes are a lighter purple n is wondering if he's a Targareyn.
With so many Hints it would be weird if Jon was not Rhaegar and Lyanna son , Ned always says that Jon is "his blood" but he never says that Jon is his son , so Jon is 100% part Stark but question is which Stark is his parent , all that we know is that evidance show that Jon is indeed Lyannas son
What makes that even more evident is that in an interview in 2014, Sean Bean said "I've definitely got some unfinished business that needs to be resolved there. I'm obviously not Jon Snow's dad. And you need that to be revealed at some point, don't you?"
Lyanna wanted Ned to hide Jons identity so he could be safe , Robert would be furious if he knew that there is one more Targ who could take his place , take his power
Nobody paid any attention to the scene when Aemon Targaryen, referring to Daenerys, said "A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing", and immediately after he said that the scene focuses on Jon walking in, giving hints to Jon's blood also being apart of the Targaryen bloodline!
I have found the best evidence yet though in s1 e2 when Robert and Ned are talking about the women they were with he asked about "Your bastards mother" he started throwing out names and one of them was Alleena There are 3 syllabuls in that name Ahh Lee Nah Change the first 2 around so it's Lee Ahh Nah now say that out loud Watch that scene again if u don't believe me
+rey skywaka although I strongly believe LF thinks lyanna wasn't actually kidnapped and raped but rather ran away with rhaegar by her own free will, he obviously doesn't know they are jon's parents. There's no way for him to know that. People who knew are already dead with the exception of howland reed.
+rey skywaka I just said same thing in my own comment without reading your comment. Just saw it now, and Aiden Gillen brilliant acting confirms it! We are like minded! Good job!
+Rick W I love his acting and honestly I love his character not cod he's nice but he adds so much story with a few characters like Sansa and Petyr right now would be so interesting
Littlefinger's smirk to Sansa is all the evidence I need. He the THE MOST influential character in the series. He knows everything, and he manipulates people too well.
The one hint that confirms it for me is when Ned is saying goodbye to Jon, he looks like he is about to cry. It clearly isn't because he is sending Jon to the wall, he clearly trusts him and has seen his endurance and prowess in combat throughout the years. It is because he reminds him of Lyanna, and in his mind he is sending whatever is left of Lyanna to the most dangerous place on Westeros, where he might die.
Watching all those scenes with Ned again I can't believe that a man like that would actually have cheated on his wife for pure desire. He is willing to die instead of taking action against some bastards of which he knows that they are not related to his friend. The only thing he cares more about than his honor is his family though, so I think it is very likely that Jon is in fact a Stark - just not his son. He can't be Brandon or Benjen's son either because Ned promises Jon to tell him about his mother, so Lyanna is pretty much the only option left.
+Jakob Kristensen Sandvik In the books I am not sure he knows. The show makes it seem like he does with that facial expression he makes when Sansa says Rhaegar had kidnapped and raped Lyanna.
+Jakob Kristensen Sandvik It's been rumoured that a scene was filmed for the new season in which Jon, Sansa,Melisandra and Littlefinger are part of it.There we might find out.
I love how you focused on Ned choosing between honor and those he loves. He chose to protect Sansa and Arya the way he chose Jon over honor way back when. :')
yeah, a friend of mine was speculating the mad king was being controlled by someone like bran did hodor and his direwolf. if so, that makes a lot of sense for the cruelty and paranoia and why he never stopped saying "burn them all" even after jamie stabbed him.
It makes me cry to think how much ned loved Jon. And Jon thought he was just a second thought, since he was always pushed aside, encouraged to go to the watch ( admitedly a dire place to go ) and he felt abandoned and unloved. How little did he know all the things ned did to protect him, including the wrath of his own wife and risking his own life and family
When JON finds out everything I reckon he will go to the Godswood and pray and he will see Ned and they will talk about his mother and that fulfills his promise
Utterly unreal how far this series has fallen. Unreal how invested I was, especially with this video ever since it came out. Unreal how I literally cannot stomach to rewatch a single episode.
What a brilliant video, great editing and sound mix. Thank you for this. Sean did an amazing job playing the role of the most important introductionary characters on a TV series ever. I actually had goosebumps watching this, thank you so much.
You really did a masterful job editing this. Cleanly establishes each character that is being discussed, then leads to the next with just the right amount of segue. And to top it off you arranged the score so that we weren't constantly jarred by soundtrack switches with each scene. Really, really well done.
Lyanna Stark probably was the Knight of the Laughing Tree and after she defeated the three guys who bullied Howland Reed , king Aerys II sent Rhaegar to search for the vanished knight, but only his shield could be found.Probably Rhaegar found out that the knight was Lyanna and thats how they knew and met each other. After this event Rhaegar went on to win the tournament and shocked all by passing over his wife to crown Lyanna as queen of love and beauty. He never kidnapped her in fact he protected her from his father and Robert Baratheon and Richard Lonmouth
Mid Night Technically yes, but I meant in the season 6 finale they proclaim Jon as King of the North which makes him the King of Ice. Some people are clueless to who is dad may still be.
Two items convinced me of the probability........Honorable Ned's love for Cat.......Martin read lots of medieval literature. Methinks Jon's parentage is a take on Arthurian legend. Uther = Rhaegar, Lyanna = Ygraine, Ned = family relation, remote region = Winterfell, Arthur = Jon, Excalibur = Longclaw Uther Pendragon desires Ygraine who is wed to another. Merlin agrees to enchant Uther. Deceived by Uther in the guise of her husband, Ygraine accepts Uther into her bed. Merlin's price is their first born son. Merlin claims the infant Arthur to be raised in a remote corner of the kingdom by a family relation with Merlin as a resident tutor. Merlin's objective is to groom Arthur as future king since poppa Uther was a failed endeavor. Ned loves Cat and yet he burdens her heart with a bastard child from adultery. Not bloodly likely. Ned might be capable of a mistake or two but he would never bring his own bastard son into his wife's home. Instead, he would confess the adultery and find a safe haven for the child elsewhere. Cat loves him well enough to forgive a past transgression and not begrudge the ongoing support of a child who is not a daily reminder. Therefore, Jon is not Ned's son. What could make an honorable man tell such a lie, live with it every day of his life, place a shadow over his marriage, and greive his beloved? Only a higher demand upon his honor, such as a deathbed promise to his sister. Jon's parentage must be kept secret even from Cat because any bastard son of Rhaegar would be hunted down and murdered. Winterfell is the best protection that Ned can provide for Jon. Ned refuses to discuss details of his alleged adultery even with his old friend Robert Baratheon. That is not just because gentlemen don't kiss and tell. It is because Ned cannot risk Robert suspecting the lie. He can't risk Robert discovering that Jon is both a Targaryen and the son of Robert's one great passion. Ned agrees to Jon taking the black because Martin plans to more the Starks to King's Landing and Jon needs the beginning of his own storyline. A bastard cannot carve a niche for himself at King's Landing. Castle Black is even more remote than Winterfell. Cat remains at Winterfell so Jon no longer serves as friction to the marriage. His story would fade into the background if Martin had no other plans for Jon. We would learn about the wall from other characters such as Jeor Mormont, Benjen Stark, and Tyrion. Jon is a nobody in the story but Martin and HBO lavish attention on Jon's character development so he is intended to become a somebody. We're still wondering if Gendry drowned or rowed all the way to Plymouth Rock. Jon is not supporting cast to any other character. (Jorah is support to Daenerys. Davos is support to Stannis.) Instead, Sam is support to Jon. Members of the Stark family have their own storylines but Jon is not a full-fledged sibling. Also, Jeor gave Longclaw to Jon, which is outrageously inappropriate in the context of their world. House Mormont is not extinct. The family line does not die with Jorah. Mormonts have treasured their valyrian steel sword for five centuries. Hardly likely that Jeor would hand over a family heirloom to a bastard from another house even if Jon is one hell of a good kid. The justification for that gift has yet to be provided. Longclaw was handy to have against the whitewalkers, but that is not sufficient justification since it was a skirmish and not a victory . The Night's Watch knows the value of Longclaw and would not discard it. Learning of Jeor's death, the Mormonts would inquire. I cannot imagine Martin or HBO simply omitting what becomes of Longclaw from the remainder of the story. By rights it should eventually be restored to House Mormont. Jon has far more claim to either of the swords reforged from Ice, Uncle Ned's sword.
+Valkyrie Sardo Chronologically Jon was born before Ned's wedding with Cat (so that could support R+L=J theory). At the beginning, Cat was supposed to be married to Brandon, the first born of Stark familly and Lyanna to Robert. But Brandon was killed during the war against the Mad King, so the two familly made Cat married to Ned instead, but he came with Jon. Lyanna was also killed during the war, so Robert married Cersei. At the beginning, the wedding of Ned and Cat was a little awkward because of their different religions : the 7 God for Cat and the old ones for Ned. But with time, they fell in love for each other and Robb was born of that love. However I agree that a person with a such sense of honor like Ned could not bed a girl outside the marriage, even if he was not engaged to anybody when Jon was "created" if he is truly his son. For Cersei, she wanted to married Rhaegar and become the Queen since she was a child, but her father did not agree because he prepared the war against Aerys the Mad King. And after the defeat of Targaryen familly, her father made her married to the next king : Robert. Then, he can access the power by becoming the Right Hand. but Robert chosed Arryn instead of him. That because Robert still loved Lyanna, even if he is now married to another woman and Lyanna is dead, that Cersei is mad at him and hates Stark familly and she get a revenge on Lyanna's brother: Ned by kill him. Otherwise, I agree with everything else you said ! :)
+Chloé Bahuaud Bruh. Ned came back from the war with the baby, not to his wedding with Cat. The war already began when Ned went to Riverrun to marry Cat, he stayed long enough to impregnate her before he went back to war. Cat had already given birth to Robb when Ned came back with baby Jon, which means Jon and Robb are roughly the same age, only separated by a few weeks to months. Not a year or more.
+Chloé Bahuaud nah, he was born around the same time as robb, maybe couple months after. Cat was already married to ned, iirc he went to war after their wedding.
He knows that Rhaegar is not the monster he was described as. Hell, most of the people who lived long enough in King's landing knew Rhaegar was a good person. But it doesn't mean he knows Jon Snow is the son.
In the part where Robert tells Ned: " I'd kill every Targeryen I'd get my hands on", I can hear Ned thinking: " No No, you will never get my nephew Jon. Over my dead body bro. That is why I will never tell you who the mother is".
This video made me realise why Ned had to 'confess' to treason and die. It wasn't just to protect his daughters, it was George R. R. Martin's way of showing us in the most incontrovertible way that Ned is a man who puts his family before his honour. It shows us that if it came to a choice of maintaining his honour as a loyal, chaste husband or protecting his sister's child and fulfilling his promise to her, he would always choose to do the right thing over preserving his reputation.
This is the absolute BEST explanation of the Jon Stark lineage!! Thank you so much for posting such an excellent video. Perfect editing and complete! Can't wait for Season 6 to continue this story!!
Because he wants the throne and he knows Jon is the one true heir to it. If Sansa knows, she will tell Jon and he will fight to take it back, not just the north.
+Daniela stor It's either Littlefinger knows or he doesn't. If he does, he's keeping it to himself for he has his own cards to play with. If he doesn't know that Jon is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, his reaction to what Sansa said implies that he's smart enough to know that something just doesn't fit with all the "kidnapping and rape" story. Why? Because the prince was known as an honorable and a good man (who was so loved even by the masses) until the incident. So that probably explains Littlefinger's reaction. He's smart enough to know that the "kidnap and rape" story might be a lie.
Dane Mitch i don't know.. there was just too much confidence on that smile to suggest that he had just a hint hahah i'm not sure if he knows in the books, if he doesn't then he didn't tell Sansa in the show nor did anything about it cause they somehow have to follow the books in such important things. But if he knows i don't know.. what you said, he might be waiting for some sign that he will gain something.
I think it would be incredible to see an updated version of this with the Tower Of Joy reveal added on, or some cut down version of it. Still, I adore this video. Perfect clip selections and ordering, wonderful storytelling. I rewatch often.
Nah, this video doesn't need an update. It's perfect just the way it is. This was all about the R+L=J theory and I think it successfully takes it's place right there in the time before the show revealed Jon's real lineage.
notice how ned only offers to tell jon about his mother when he "takes the black" and is beyond the reach of kings? :) plus yeah, we all know theres no way in 10,000,000 years that Ned would father a bastard. r+l=j is certain, we all know it :)
+Raptor Jesus Ned started a war for Lya so hurting Cat by raising jon in winterfell is not that difficult. And in the books when he lists his children names in his head is robb, sansa, arya, bran, rickon. Only those 5. But never Jon. And ned never insults or have a negative thought about rhaegar, the man who "raped" his sister. He actually thinks very often of him in the books. "When they killed lady, he could still hear sansa pleading, as lyanna had pleaded once." if sansa was pleading for ladys life, what could have lyanna have been pleading for if not her son?? who was the danger to rhaegars children, to Lady, to Bran?? house fucking lannister. And why lyanna wanted to rest next to her father and brother? She was an UNMARRIED STARK. it was her right to rest in winterfell, why would she beg? unless she married Rhaegar, and now that she was a Targaryen she should be in her husbands family crypt. That would make Jon king, and kings are dying like flies, thats why Ned kept his mouth shut.
To add to that: Imagine for a moment that Robert discovered Rhaegar had fathered a child with his love Lyanna. You can bet your ass that kid would mysteriously wined up dead even under Ned's protection. There was only ONE way to keep that kid safe. The only odd thing is that Ned wouldn't tell Cat the truth- but I am guessing Lyanna made him promise not to tell a single person. I'm not a book reader but I can picture the dialog: "No one can know the truth. You have to protect him from Robert- from everyone. You have to promise me you won't tell a soul, not even your wife." "Lyanna..." "Promise me Ned." "I promise." Ned would die before he broke a promise.
+Justagirlwithasmile haven't read the books. but i have had the theory since season 1 that Jon is the bastard son of Robert. he certainly had Robert's genetic traits which Joffrey did not. it also is fairly obvious that Jon is descended from kings because Melisandre tried and failed to seduce Jon. She even subtly mentions why. the power she derives from sex with kings (and their sons) lets her do such evil and powerful things, there is no telling what was averted by Jon turning it down. i also think Jon is going to come back from the dead.
David Williams Yeah but everyone thought Cersei's kids were legitimate and Robert had heaps of bastards so there'd be no reason to hide Jon from him. Jon wouldn't have been in any more danger than Gendry as Rob's son.
David Williams Jon is nothing like Robert. Jon is smart and kind, not drunk and a fool.He looks like a Stark, dark hair, dark eyes, but deep inside he is like they describe Rhaegar was. Except he has Lyannas face, like Arya
Incredibly well made, well you've convinced me. I hope we get some answers in the upcoming show episodes and next book. But knowing GRRM he'll most likely try and drag it out until the very end haha
this is so beautifully edited, now that everything has been revealed I wish you would make an update version of this. Still great job with the compilation and editing. Watched this after ep 2 of S8 and the feels!
Very good video. I wanted to suggest adding to the time-line the fact that Rhaegar believed himself or his heir to be “The Prince who was promised” and that he, being of Fire (Targaryen), and Lyanna, being of Ice (Stark from the North), would be the union to deliver the “Sonf of Ice and Fire”.
Whomever edited this video is danm talented. I would love to see an updated version to include further proof of R+L=J in Season 6. Thank you very much for the hard work and dedication in creating this video. It is appreciated.
If he knows then he also knows Jon's claim to the Iron Throne supercedes everyone else's. And since he's explicitly stated that he wants the throne for himself, if he DOES know about Jon's heritate he'll most likely try to kill him at some point.
+VodKal-El I think, by that expression Baelish implied, it's possible he knew Rhaegar didn't kidnap and rape Lyanna. It's so intriguing that only Robert Baratheon vilifies Rhaegar. Ned who by all right should be the one to be outraged had nothing bad to say about the silver prince. He even remembered him as "gentle". Even the honorable people who knew the prince contradict Robert's accusations. Those people described him as kind and respectful. The people loved him so much and he also loved them back. They even thought that he would be a far batter king than his father
This video gave me the chills. From Ned's multiple speeches, Roberts intense discussion with Ned, Aemon Targaryen's words, and especially Cat's words about Jon, when Jon's death came into the screen. God I love this series so much. So many good people have died and I'm still hoping for a miracle of some sort to avenge Ned and the others, to avenge Jon and reveal the truth about his parentage. Great job on the editing part! It was top notch! I'm so much more curious and eager to see how/and if the theory will play out on the show.
this video was very well made, love the transitions, it feels good when youtubers put time and effort into a video instead of just throwing scenes together and then adding music over everything. nice job :)
Every time I watch Ned on his knees, waiting to be beheaded, looking for Ayra, I swear I get teary eyed 😢 I absolutely stand behind R+L=J but sometimes I find myself thinking "is it just too obvious for George RR Martin?" But it certainly is the only theory the show has supported! I would be completely blind sided if it were any other explanation!
This might sound dumb, but if Jon snow is half targaryen, what if he is also immune to fire? It would be pretty cool if there ever was a scene where danerys dragons try to burn him but he just stands there with burnt clothes. haha just a thought
4:42 "The next time we see each other, we'll talk about your mother" because by then Jon would have taken his vows and wouldn't be able to avenge / claim the throne and start a war.
Maybe he never ment to become king, but have a bigger burden: like dealing with the Others. Maybe even be a sacrifice to them. That's one of my theories. The White Walkers are becoming instinct because their gene diversity is small, Jon on the other hand has blood of the First Men and the Valyrians flowing through him, which makes him very precious for the White Walkers.
Obviously, like many I suspected this for a long time and now it has been confirmed. But something I never really thought about until now is... Jon met another family member without knowing it. Poor old Aemon Targaryen met one of his family's last descendants and never even knew. I find that kind of sad. If only he'd been alive for when everyone comes to know it. Also, something I remember thinking at the time... it's great that Stannis basically figured it out. It's never really specified what he thinks of course, other than that Jon isn't Ned Stark's bastard, but I like to think he figured out the entire thing and just sat on the knowledge. The biggest clue I think in the TV-series was always that Ned Stark saying "you have my blood" but not "you are my son" in that moment combined with the fact that he was going to tell Jon everything AFTER he'd joined the night's watch (meaning he could never make a claim on the crown again).
This compilation is beautifully put together, especially at the end with Catelyn's voiceover over Jon's body while the music plays softly in the background... Very, very well done!
Very well edited! Ned Stark kept his honor, he is no cheater. He had to take that secret to the grave but in se.6 we will probably see the truth of these events
It's been 7 seasons since Ned died. Still he is my favourite character above Jon snow. I don't think Jon would be the likable man he is today if he was not raised by Ned. And tyrion would not have chosen Jon over danaerys in season 8 if Jon did not have Ned's character. We all like House stark because of Ned.
That reveal at 5:03, "A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing." And then frickin Jon Snow walks in, lol. I didn't realize there were so many damn hints!
Omg you know what would be so cool... While Jon is dead, he meets Ned in some realm of afterlife and Ned tells him about Lyanna and when he rises from the dead he has a new purpose and stuff
+Everett Fletcher There is nothing after death, go back and reread or re-watch the show where Beric Dondarrion talks about being resurrected, according to him there's only the darkness. Now, I don't know if Beric was religious but it's very well possible that he followed the Seven and the Seven are false gods, possibly the old gods are the only "Real" gods, so for people that follow the old gods they have an afterlife. But as far as we know from what we've been told and read in the books, there's nothing after death in GoT, just blackness/darkness.

+BakuganMinion Family, honor, duty. Don't forget it: she also suffers for not having honored her family words.
Maester Aemon's dialogue, "Targaryen, alone in the world. It's a terrible thing." And the popping up of Jon Snow in the next scene. I can not get over that scene. R + L = J 👯
that was the most shocking thing to me that I didn't notice in the show.. so clever
yes!
+eric nebab Same here. Thanks to this video, it made me go "ohhh...."
Even in the first episode, when Ned executes that Night's watch deserter.
When he says the words, "the rightful King of the seven kingdoms, the camera pans to Jon telling Bran to not look away"
That's the best scene for me too. 👍
Maester Aemon's scenes get you right in the feels ...
+jorgemtz05 Cant remember if it was in the books as well, but if not these lines were the best written material the show ever did.
"If the day shall come when your Lord father was forced to choose between honor on one hand and those he loved on the other. What we he do?"
Definitely a cue to Eddard's promise to Lyanna.
D'oh!
Your Aemon Targaryen?
It's so much more impactful when you realise he's Jon's Great-Uncle.
"Egg?! I dreamt I was old.."
The Prince who was Promised.
It was a promise that allowed him to live.
"Promise me, Ned."
......damn
And if the Targaryens was still ruling and Rhaegar became king, Jon would be the Prince.
Wow, this makes more sense. I thought Melisandre meant promised by the Red God, and she did mean that but it actually refers to Ned's promise to Lyanna.
LeeroyFan101 SPOILER WARNING
THEY CONFIRMED IT !!!! :D
yeah. we gotta keep in mind all of this only matters if lyanna and rhaegar got married, which we still don't know for sure yet. if not, he's still a bastard even though both his parents are royalty and has no claim to any throne. also, the only person alive who knows jon is lyanna's son is bran and where is he in all this?
Ned held a secret for 15 years for Sansa to spread it around in 8 minutes
Robert was dead. the only people left who would want Jon dead already wanted him dead. there was no reason to hide it
@@godemperorofmankind3.091 everyone except daenerys, who had 2 dragons and could obliterate every stark and their army if she didn’t take the reveal kindly…
@@debasegrog5153 what evidence did she have that Tyrion would blab? her only real goal by telling him was to turn him to jon's side insted of Dany's.
Also if dany really murders her love over something as small as that that just proves Sansa's point that shes an unworthy mad queen.
@@debasegrog5153 Dani wouldn't have killed Jon over him being found out to be a Targaryen, that makes no sense.
+Trevor Locke Ned has a soft spot for all children. He even wants to save Cersei's children and ends up ruining everything.
Ned Stark is a true hero, foolish but a real hero nonetheless. He wont have any babies nor children butchered before him.
+Yash Arora
As a High Lord and very pragmatic man (along with idealistic, yes); I don't think that Ned would have gone to the lengths to protect Dany's child if he didn't have another Targaryen child in mind.
+Trevor Locke Ned has a soft spot for all innocent children
+Adrian Gofredo
So true, I can't stand when people hate on Ned (usually Stannis fans).
But is the show all about JON Targareyn
But that's wrong, that's a vision of Rhaegar talking with his wife Elia about his newborn son Aegon.
There Rhaegar thought Aegon was the promised prince of the Azor Ahai prophecy,he says that the dragon has three heads so he must have a third son, however his wife was weak and could die from another pregnancy.
The only moment Dany saw something related to Lyanna was when the blue flower sprouted on the wall representing Jon in the Wall.
Geaorge states that it was Rhaegar talking with his wife Elia about his newborn son Aegon whom Dany sees.
Turns out you were right
With so many Hints it would be weird if Jon was not Rhaegar and Lyanna son , Ned always says that Jon is "his blood" but he never says that Jon is his son , so Jon is 100% part Stark but question is which Stark is his parent , all that we know is that evidance show that Jon is indeed Lyannas son
What makes that even more evident is that in an interview in 2014, Sean Bean said "I've definitely got some unfinished business that needs to be resolved there. I'm obviously not Jon Snow's dad. And you need that to be revealed at some point, don't you?"
He is Jon Snow Uncle and adoptive Dad , that is why Jon is like his kid and everybody thinks that he is Neds son
+Photo Captain Well, Jon is 50% Stark ;)
Tho mas yes but i am 100% certain that he Is 50% Stark
Lyanna wanted Ned to hide Jons identity so he could be safe , Robert would be furious if he knew that there is one more Targ who could take his place , take his power
Nobody paid any attention to the scene when Aemon Targaryen, referring to Daenerys, said "A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing", and immediately after he said that the scene focuses on Jon walking in, giving hints to Jon's blood also being apart of the Targaryen bloodline!
+malbhet I was thinking same thing when I saw it.
They purposely did that watch the actual scene it's done that way for a point
+malbhet nice detail, great.
I have found the best evidence yet though in s1 e2 when Robert and Ned are talking about the women they were with he asked about "Your bastards mother" he started throwing out names and one of them was Alleena
There are 3 syllabuls in that name
Ahh Lee Nah
Change the first 2 around so it's
Lee Ahh Nah now say that out loud
Watch that scene again if u don't believe me
And the scene before with Tyrion telling Dany that there's no member of her family left alive to support her claim!
Littlefinger's smirk to Sansa is all the proof I need , R+L=J his song is the song of ice & Fire
Good job!
+Rick W :))
+Rick W I love his acting and honestly I love his character not cod he's nice but he adds so much story with a few characters like Sansa and Petyr right now would be so interesting
Mr Annonymous Brilliant acting.
Brilliant editing, I can't like this video enough.
+Diego Golo just realized you have more GOT videos, subscribed :D
Still the music could be a little less loud at some points
Littlefinger's smirk to Sansa is all the evidence I need. He the THE MOST influential character in the series. He knows everything, and he manipulates people too well.
You're forgetting varys the spider
Yousef Hooman Littlefinger is so much better in my opinion. He just has a way to get everything he wants. Minus Caitlyn.
Zerkzog he is good at manipulating people and he's very charismatic but I bet varys could do way more if he wanted to.
+Yousef Hooman I bet he is we just havn't seen it yet.
Matthew kornman yeah
Great editing!

Littlefinger knows!
yeah that's what I was wondering. He knows a lot of things about Jon.
+Jakob Kristensen Sandvik In the books I am not sure he knows. The show makes it seem like he does with that facial expression he makes when Sansa says Rhaegar had kidnapped and raped Lyanna.
+Jakob Kristensen Sandvik He doesn't know shit. Probably he realizes that Lyanna and Rhaegar were in love but that's it
+Jakob Kristensen Sandvik It's been rumoured that a scene was filmed for the new season in which Jon, Sansa,Melisandra and Littlefinger are part of it.There we might find out.

Just brilliant acting.

I love how you focused on Ned choosing between honor and those he loves. He chose to protect Sansa and Arya the way he chose Jon over honor way back when. :')
Very well done!
One of the best Game Of Thrones- videos that i've seen so far. GJ! :)
I hope in season 7 we see Rhaegar through Bran
yeh i want an entire season of Roberts Rebellion
+Mega Zell Rhaegar never went mad. Aerys Targaryan you mean The Mad King
I think you mean Aerys.
yeah, a friend of mine was speculating the mad king was being controlled by someone like bran did hodor and his direwolf. if so, that makes a lot of sense for the cruelty and paranoia and why he never stopped saying "burn them all" even after jamie stabbed him.
+MANDY MIGGZ or maybe it was just idk... THE INCEST
@@iamthebatman6557 lol
Catelyn's speech with the image of dying Jon by the end... Damn, that gave me goosebumps. Beautiful montage.
The scenes are very well stitched together, makes a cohesive train of thought. Glad the show retained many of the hints.
Utterly unreal how far this series has fallen. Unreal how invested I was, especially with this video ever since it came out.
Unreal how I literally cannot stomach to rewatch a single episode.
Did anyone else cry? So many feelings right now.
Rhaegar this, Rhaegar that, Rhaegar, Rhaegar, Rhaegar

The way this quote reminds me of last weeks episode of HotD. xDD Daemon Daemon Daemon
What a brilliant video, great editing and sound mix. Thank you for this. Sean did an amazing job playing the role of the most important introductionary characters on a TV series ever.
I actually had goosebumps watching this, thank you so much.
"You can't get your hands on this one, can ye?" I bet he was referring to Jon Snow as well ;)
Oh shit man. He totally was.
I keep coming back to this video 😭👌
Love coming back every year to watch this and then play the score for the show the rest of the day.
You really did a masterful job editing this. Cleanly establishes each character that is being discussed, then leads to the next with just the right amount of segue. And to top it off you arranged the score so that we weren't constantly jarred by soundtrack switches with each scene. Really, really well done.
You sir, deserve a cookie for this awesome editing.
Lyanna Stark probably was the Knight of the Laughing Tree and after
she defeated the three guys who bullied Howland Reed , king Aerys II
sent Rhaegar to search for the vanished knight, but only his shield
could be found.Probably Rhaegar found out that the knight was
Lyanna and thats how they knew and met each other. After this event
Rhaegar went on to win the tournament and shocked all by passing over
his wife to crown Lyanna as queen of love and beauty. He never kidnapped her in fact he protected her from his father and Robert Baratheon and Richard Lonmouth
Why Richard, what did the knight of Skulls and kisses do??
R+L=J 100% Confirmation!
Jon the King of Ice
Daenerys the Queen of Fire
Illuminati confirmed
Disturbing though. Very GOT, having aunt and nephew fall for each other.
Jon is Stark and Targaryen...he is Ice and Fire
Mid Night Technically yes, but I meant in the season 6 finale they proclaim Jon as King of the North which makes him the King of Ice. Some people are clueless to who is dad may still be.
***** I agree. If Jon is a Targaryen and he gets with Daenerys then that's incest.
This is one awesome edit, I must admit! Great job!
Two items convinced me of the probability........Honorable Ned's love for Cat.......Martin read lots of medieval literature. Methinks Jon's parentage is a take on Arthurian legend.
Uther = Rhaegar, Lyanna = Ygraine, Ned = family relation, remote region = Winterfell, Arthur = Jon, Excalibur = Longclaw
Uther Pendragon desires Ygraine who is wed to another.
+Pretty Gurl Rock I know the was began before and that they have some months of difference. But I think Jon is older than Robb :)
+Valkyrie Sardo Lancelot=Hodor
+Chloé Bahuaud nah, he was born around the same time as robb, maybe couple months after. Cat was already married to ned, iirc he went to war after their wedding.
Littlwfingers face at the beginning tho. He knew
+Joel B at 2:44 *
I doubt it
Exactly, the facial expressions give away everything in this show. Lyanna wasn't raped.
His face doesn't look like he knows what happened, but that he is doubting the rape story
It shows us that if it came to a choice of maintaining his honour as a loyal, chaste husband or protecting his sister's child and fulfilling his promise to her, he would always choose to do the right thing over preserving his reputation.
ding ding ding we have a winner!

This video was edited so beautifully.
Okay, I definitely teared up a little at the Catelyn speech with the shots of Jon.
Simply the best edited teaser video on the subject.
Beautifully put together. Got all teary eyed again. Sean Bean as Ned was perfection. Too bad he had to die so soon.
George RR Martin told Sean Bean something about Ned Starks past
I wonder what that was
Jks obvious R+L=J
little finger knows Rhaegar and lyanna loved each other. wonder why he didn't tell Sansa the truth?
Cos its little finger
if he knew that telling this to someone would bring some benefit to himself, then he would do it. Until that, he will keep that card for himself
Dane Mitch i don't know.. there was just too much confidence on that smile to suggest that he had just a hint hahah
i'm not sure if he knows in the books, if he doesn't then he didn't tell Sansa in the show nor did anything about it cause they somehow have to follow the books in such important things. But if he knows i don't know.. what you said, he might be waiting for some sign that he will gain something.
This was amazingly cut! great work
Watching this after the confirmation is amazing, chills throughout the whole video
This moved me to tears. Very well done job. Thanks for sharing !
I think it would be incredible to see an updated version of this with the Tower Of Joy reveal added on, or some cut down version of it. Still, I adore this video. Perfect clip selections and ordering, wonderful storytelling. I rewatch often.
Very well put together video. You gave me the chills, bro...
Nah, this video doesn't need an update. It's perfect just the way it is. This was all about the R+L=J theory and I think it successfully takes it's place right there in the time before the show revealed Jon's real lineage.
This video is awesome!! Great Job! Definitely a great look into R+L+=J
One of the best Game Of Thronees videos i've ever seen! Amaizing Job!
This video gave my goosebumps.
This was sooooo well done. Thank you.
notice how ned only offers to tell jon about his mother when he "takes the black" and is beyond the reach of kings? :)
plus yeah, we all know theres no way in 10,000,000 years that Ned would father a bastard.
r+l=j is certain, we all know it :)
I'm not a book reader but I can picture the dialog:
"No one can know the truth. You have to protect him from Robert- from everyone. You have to promise me you won't tell a soul, not even your wife."
"Lyanna..."
"Promise me Ned."
"I promise."
Ned would die before he broke a promise.
+Justagirlwithasmile
haven't read the books. but i have had the theory since season 1 that Jon is the bastard son of Robert. he certainly had Robert's genetic traits which Joffrey did not. it also is fairly obvious that Jon is descended from kings because Melisandre tried and failed to seduce Jon.
The best compilation i have ever seen..................great work :)
Blind Wave brought me here. Such an incredible fucking video, my God.
Detective Calvin
this is some great editing... so briliant
Great montage. Interesting bit at the day. Thanks for this.
That Tower of Joy scene looks important, even if it didn't directly confirm anything yet...

Motherfucking Baelish. He knows.
He always does know things
He better do something about it.
If he knows then he also knows Jon's claim to the Iron Throne supercedes everyone else's. And since he's explicitly stated that he wants the throne for himself, if he DOES know about Jon's heritate he'll most likely try to kill him at some point.
He probably doesn't know that Jon is a Targaryen. He probably did know that Lyanna wasn't kidnapped and ran off with Rheagar willingly though.
This is so incredibly well done. I'd love to see it updated with the Tower of Joy scenes from season 6!
Holy fuck man, this is an unreal compilation. I wish I could like this more than once.
this video was very well made, love the transitions, it feels good when youtubers put time and effort into a video instead of just throwing scenes together and then adding music over everything. nice job :)
oh caitlyn you are not the worst woman in the world. we have cersei
And Shae.
Amazing editing. Outstanding work. Thank you!
Hodor is his mother how can you not see that.
+JBTheMighty It is known.
I'm predicting that R+L=J is going to be confirmed in S6 E10 somehow... I can feel it
Pleaseeee. I did my waiting hahaha
Yeah I hope so too and episode 9 was AMAZING!
It will defintley be Episode 10 they can't give us that 1st part of the tower of joy scene and not show the rest this season
This might sound dumb, but if Jon snow is half targaryen, what if he is also immune to fire? It would be pretty cool if there ever was a scene where danerys dragons try to burn him but he just stands there with burnt clothes. haha just a thought
***** Lol it woud be EPIC!!!!
Wow - amazing video great job with the editing well done :) Makes me want to go back and watch it from the start again!
This video is truly amazing and should be watched by all fans of GoT.
The best Thrones fan video ever made
Obviously, like many I suspected this for a long time and now it has been confirmed.
The biggest clue I think in the TV-series was always that Ned Stark saying "you have my blood" but not "you are my son" in that moment combined with the fact that he was going to tell Jon everything AFTER he'd joined the night's watch (meaning he could never make a claim on the crown again).
oberyn-"say her name"
mountain-"heisenberg"
oberyn-"you're god damn right"
The best edit I've ever seen.
I love the look LIttle Finger gave when Sansa says Rhaegar kidnapped and raped Lyanna. "You are so naive, Sansa. So naive."
+tvducky IMO that one look confirms R+L=J. It wasnt subtle enough, because that actor isnt subtle. Done. Game over. Jon's a Targ I have no doubt.
Something about when Aemon talks its really powerful
this whole video is edited beautifully. not in chronological order, but edited in the right rhythm
NanoBlade it's like how bran would see studf
That reveal at 5:03, "A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing." And then frickin Jon Snow walks in, lol. I didn't realize there were so many damn hints!
I really loved it! nicely done
2:14 that's sounded exactly like John Snow
JC jon would have lied even if ned did reveal his parentage to him when he was dead to protect himself.
What a great edit, such a labor of love. Well done Robbie McD!
One of the best GOT videos ive seen in a long while
