When he hit top form he was the best striker in the league by far. It’s a shame he struggled with consistency as he could have been classed as an icon.

The number 1 goal against Aberdeen, the 4-3 game, I was there. 3-1 down and Big Sammy pops up with that little gem to win it 4-3, I’ll never forget it big man.

I played Pro 2009 with Celtic. This team with Samaras, Fortune,Malone,McGrady,Mizuno and many others was amazing.
The 4-3 come back against the Dons was magic. Hell of a first half for Magennis though. Georgios disappeared for long periods, but on his day he was fantastic. He also racked up quite a few assist for Gary Hooper although most focused on his partnership with Stokes.
I'm a hearts fan and samaras was an amazing player one of the best finishers in the spl history
That says a lot about the SPL then Samaras was awful. City swapping Anelka for Samaras surely goes down as one of worst bits of ⚽ business ever.

Pouca mídia e muito futebol, carregou por muito tempo o Celtic nas costas. Em sua seleção a Grécia, nas copas, principalmente a 2014 jogou em quase todas as posições . Jogador mas que polivalente, pena que a idade chegou e está pesando, sinto pena também por te acompanhado só uns 10 anos da sua carreira. Por cousa dele hoje sou muito fã da seleção Grega e do Celtic. Parabéns Samaras exemplo de atleta.

I’d love to see him back at the club in some coaching capacity one day. He just gets the club and its fans. Not many players who come from overseas truly understand it even if they’ve been here for a number of years but as soon as he put on that shirt, he became one of us.
As a Sc Heerenveen fan i am proud to see that he has done wel at Celtic!

Happy for Samaras as a Greek seemed like a really nice guy. It was a big thing on Greek media his relationship with the Jay kid. Unfortunately last years Greece did not produce such quality players and national team not as successful. Hope he has good retirement 😊

to be fair, he was a quality player, but looking from the outside with blue glasses, he looked lazy and inconsistent, TIC fans would be better to comment on that side. He was still a quality player and video made him look excellent. At the end of the day, we ALL should respect ANY quality player who plays in scotland, IRRELEVANT of who they play for. these folks are helping to raise profile of the scottish game meaning EVERYONE benefits and helps improve the league
Forgot two really good goals he scored in Motherwell around 2009.
Remember his injury time winner against Spartak Moscow in Moscow in the UCL the big man was full of goals he just looked a bit lazy at times. Giakoumakis has the potential to be even better lets hope he eclipses what Georgios achieved.

GUYS...I will just tell you something..as a supporter of OFI Crete imagine just how all the supporters of OFI feel..Samaras left from us from the age of 15,did all this career and was always saying that if i will come back to play in Greece i will do it only for OFI because its the only team that i have loved since being a kid..also to mention that the father of Giorgos Samaras,Giannis,was one of our best players for years and also one of the top Greek players at those years..we were always waiting for Giorgos to come back to OFI at the end of his career but this injury didnt let him ever recover...but this guy came back for us,he found a Greek-American business man,bought OFI that was in trouble with economic and all kind of problems and made us dream for our team again...a team that in the years of his father and even before was the third-fourth best team of Greece every year..a team that later was relegated two times,and one of them was straight to the third division because of economic problems...and he didnt even ever scored just one goal for us..never played even for a minute...but did so many for us...GIORGO SE AGAPAME ADERFE❤

Good player, but his position in Greek team in WC wasn't so good, instead he should keep on goal position rather defence.
He played as a left winger in WC mostly. He said in an interview he preferred not being the main striker

Only player in our times who single-handedly blew a title. An absolute imposter for much/most of his Celtic career. Tims who celebrate him are revisionists. No player in Celtic's history contributed less in so many appearances.

More recently not all that many, but that's exactly the point. No clips for any of them either.
If this were someone like Larrson who went on to become a global legend or heck cannigia who was a huge name before coming to Scotland I might get it. But a guy who came to celtic as he wasn't good enough elsewhere and scored something like four after leaving does not deserve a dedicated, congratulatory video on his retirement.
Again, make it part of the hotshots (or whatever they call it) series and I am okay with it, because there is more or less balanced representation. Not with this though.

Wisny a failure when he bagged a double at ibrokes.
John 1888 but he was only 4 months later when he missed the penalty that would’ve secured Celtic the league title and Celtic would’ve been going for 9 in a row this season.
