Excellent video. I learned about using the Key On Engine Off self-test to trigger the circuits with a bi-directional scan tool. It was an, "of course!" moment for me. Thank you. I will use it in the future from now on.

Bro, you say that P1000 is set with a battery disconnect, it can be set by another mechanic clearing all the codes which then resets all the emission monitors, this is the primary way a P1000 is set. This is one way we know that somebody has been working on the vehicle and most of the time they are not nice enough to copy and print the old codes for the next technician to get a better idea of the history of the vehicle. As for your statement, owners tend to follow poor advice on the internet and disconnect their own battery which can also create this problem, it is up to us to teach owners what not to do and why it only hurts the mechanic and will cost them more in the long run. When there is a P1000, this can mean extra charges for extra drive cycles to be sure no other codes may return that have been improperly erased. If we do not want to do the extra drive cycles which may still not run all monitors, we need to annotate the work order that old problems may pop up again and we are not responsible for not seeing these while we were working on the vehicle do to the bad practices of others clearing codes.

Alexander Stefanxandra Swedish Thanks!
Why didn't the test light remain ON when you started the engine?
DW S Great Question the heater only gets turned on momentarily by the ECM, it's the exhaust temp that keeps the sensor hot, if the ECM turns on the heater for too long the life of the heating element would be shortened!
The customer needs Oil change as well
