King Henry VIII didn't just tear down icons and statues, he looted convents and abbeys. He seized Church property in the form of gold chalices, patens and gold candlesticksand put the proceeds in the Crown's coffers

Whatever be the cause, God used the British to evangelize the colonies they occupied and because they sent Missionaries, God expanded their territories (colonies) and we the pagans came to faith in Jesus Christ.
The next greatest thing is that the Catholic Church then didn't give and allow its simple church members to have the Bible and read it, they where the Strongest Monopolists of Christianity. Thank God, Martin Luther translated the Bible into his language German and the first Printing Press came into existence to print the Bible and we all have the access to read the Bible now.
So many good things have happened to Christianity.
It is Jesus Christ who died on the cross for us, the human race, and Mary would accept it if she was alive because Jesus Christ Himself said that No One Comes To The Father But By Me, Jesus Christ did not say You Have To Say The Hail Mary to be saved and to be listened by My Father and Me. We have highest esteem and respect for Mary but Only Jesus Christ is the Saviour because He alone died on the cross for us.
All these were made known to us by the others, not the Catholic Church !!!

Having looked over an article on the web about Thomas Cranmer (who became Archbishop of Canterbury under Henry VIII), it seemed to also involve the fact that he (Henry) kept having miscarriages with Anne Boleyn, & took it as a sign from God that their marriage was Adulterous (since Boleyn had originally married Henry’s brother, who passed away). That then led him to wanting the annulment, which the Vatican denied him, then there was the split. He did go a bit mad with the number of wives after that though.

The second council of Nicaea condemned the iconoclast heresy. England’s prots were just opportunistic thieves, and had such a low view of worship that they think prayer IS worship. The Catholic and Orthodox churches adorn their churches with fine art and beauty because the church is supposed to be a literal reflection of Heaven on earth. The blessed sacrament of the Eucharist, which involves the re-presentation of Christ on the cross, is worship. Prayer is involved, but is not the central point.

The Church of England itself considers 597 AD (CE) as it's formal start. There are some CoE churches that have statues and stained glass windows in them whilst others are more plain. Go to Canterbury Catherdral in England and you will see stained glass windows in places from around the late 12th century or so.
Having said that the dissolution of the monasteries and destruction of some religious things were a very sad part of England's history.

Well, it's true that the Church of England was much more seperated from continental Europe from the beginning with the only link being between the Archbishops of Canterbury and York and the Pope. Though, this link was tenuous with archbishops almost exclusively siding with the king in every matter. I still don't know whether you could call that a good thing.

This is a very old Protestant lie.
Vernacular translations were never prohibited by the Catholic Church and Catholic Monks had created Vernacular translations before Henry's grandpa was even born.
What actually happened was that the Catholic Church, just like Luther, Henry, and other Protestants themselves, prohibited translations with heretical/anti Catholic commentaries and also banned translations which were considered to be unorthodox.
Also, the Catholic Church considers itself to be Orthodox and the Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox consider themselves to be Catholic.
Now, does that mean a contradiction? No, those terms have different meanings.
Henry considered himself to be "Catholic" the same way Eastern Orthodox consider themselves to be "Catholic" and Eastern Catholics consider themselves to be "Orthodox". Ie, the linguistic meaning of these terms. Catholic - Universal, Orthodox - Traditional Doctrines/In accordance with the Apostolic Tradition/Holding the same views as before

Images are not worshiped, but venerated; they remind us of those saints who went before us. Why don’t we burn all our family photos, chuck grandma’s photo in the fireplace, shred our kids’ photos- if one was to adopt the spirit of the reformation….we don’t, because images of our family ….are family. Saints who went before us are also family, because the Church is a family of Christians.

@@joshkd3 it’s not all imagination in Eastern Orthodox iconography; Imagination is actually forbidden, unlike in Western Christian Art.There is a manual describing the facial characteristics of each Saint all the way back to the Apostles, for the guidance of iconographers. When we study an icon( earliest ones in colour, to survive, date to 600AD) of a specific Saint, we find that it retains its exact likeness without alteration for centuries/ millennium and over. This formula of relying on verbal instructions as to the facial characteristics ( almost like a modern day identikit) is how protoChristians kept alive the visual memory of Saints. This is still used in the iconography of recent Saints ( even though we now have photographs) same formulas, same rules and theological underpinnings; it is a living tradition, unlike in the West. Moreover, Holy Tradition has it that Apostle Luke painted icons. Have a look also how the Hellenistic Fayum portraits worked parallel to the proto- Christian Era…this topic can command as much research as one is prepared to respectfully offer…..thank you.

Common myth. It was fortunate and favourable for Henry VIII and politically motivated but the reformation of the church was also a very powerful move to distance the English church from a Roman Catholic doctrine that was seen to be increasingly giving the church and Pope excessive authority. Henry VIII was an easy convert because he wanted a divorce and it undoubtedly influenced timing but the fracture based on disagreement on biblical doctrine in defence of the supreme authority of biblical orthodoxy was established before the need for Henry's divorce arose. For an independent opinion I'd suggest a look at John Calvin, Martin Luther and Thomas More. Henry VIII is part of the story but there are some incredibly interesting and important issues of biblical doctrine and church history to be found.

@@nepertityfrancisco6514 Peter founded the Apostolic and Patriarchal Sees of Jerusalem and Antioch before founding Rome. According to Acts, there's a Council of Jerusalem, but no such Council of Rome.
In New Testament times, therefore, Rome only represented 1/3 of the See of Peter. In addition to them, the other ancient Patriarchate, that of Alexandria and all-Africa, sided with the Ecumenical (meaning universal) Patriarchate of Constantinople in 1054. Thus, even in your own terms, 2/3s of the original See of Peter ceased to be in communion with the fallen former Patriarchate of the West, the Romanists, the other 1/3rd, in 1054. 2:1 in favour of Constantinople and the East (and both the North (in terms of Constantinople) and the South (Antioch, Jerusalem and Alexandria).
In terms of the Pentarchy of the 5 ancient Patriarchates, the other members agreed with Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople's Anathema against the Roman Papacy for the introduction of and then very recent (in those days) insistence on the use of unleavened bread (azymes) (a means "no", "zymes" comes from "zymos" meaning "yeast") and also for altering the Creed, contrary to the prohibitions of the Second through to the Seventh Ecumenical Synods, by adding the Filioque clause to the Creed. So that's 4:1 in favour of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, Michael Cerularius.
QED! Thus it is proved. Let this be, in Biblical Terms, the Second Monition to you as a heretic.
All of these Synods were accepted by the Roman Popes at the time.
All of the other members of the Pentarchy also rejected the idea of Papal Supremacy and linked to this, the idea of Papal infallibility. The 6th Ecumenical Synod, in 681AD, anathematized the heretical Monothelite teachings of Pope Honorius I of Rome, which the Papacy accepted at the time. The Seventh Ecumenical Synod of 787AD, confirmed the previous Ecumenical Synods, and was also accepted by the Roman Papacy.

Love Jihad - dating and engaging in sexual activities by Muslim men over Christian girls. Marrying and take away Christian girls so that Christian community diminishes ( muslim girls will first befriend with Christian girls and then traps them for their muslim boys)
Political jihad - muslims intially reaches your neibghourhood, stays peacefully with you. Then brings other muslim families to same neighborhood. When attaining majority makes loud noises in the masjid with loud speakers. Some enters into politics, and makes the law in favourable for their religious activities. You will be silenced if voice raised.
Media Jihad - some converted white muslims will be placed alongside roads to have debate with native Christians. They will keep on insulting Christian beliefs. Also they will be in 7-8 group of goons to defend any Christians over reaction.

Protestantism is heresy. Convert to the one true Catholic faith.

Best not to judge. There are many people who think catholicism is evil. Personally, I think you get lovely godly people in all denominations. I think God is more interested in how we treat our fellow souls than which church we attend...

@@peacehope7365 The Church one attends matters very much to God. Jesus established one church, not 45,000.

@@tommy9825 Honestly, it's not the 16th century anymore! Surely catholic/protestant squabbles should be consigned to the past? They're just different expressions. Neither one wholly right or wrong. The Christian church is one body of believers, one church, but within that there are varying worship styles etc. If you love God with all your heart, and you love your neighbour as yourself, it doesn't matter which building you worship in on Sunday. I don't really regard myself as a catholic or a protestant these days; just a follower of Christ 😊
