My wife and I are a photo/video team. I handle all video production. We regularly get bookings at a package price of 10k. Keep going guys you’ll get there.
Thank you so much for your videos bro!!! Im shooting my first wedding this weekend and I’m so freaking nervous!!! I’ve learned so much from you and hopefully I will be able to make this my full time career one day. Thanks for everything bro 🙏🏽🙏🏽
AMAZINGLY PUT!! Such a great video. We had our first couple mention on a consultation call that there would be a content creator there working as well. The couple asked if that was ok, we were thinking more along the lines of an "influencer" and responded with, "that's ok as long as they don't interfere". Your video made that request make more sense lol. Thank you
i remember you saying you wanting to make a video about the wedding film industry timeline. well done:) also, i really liked your point about diversifying. there are a lot of REALLY talented wedding filmmakers out there who might be putting themselves in a box by not being open to work outside of weddings, when they are actually capable of being great filmmakers/storytellers in other genres of videography too
So true! Plus, diversifying opens the door to possibility and exploring new perspectives of storytelling. I branched out in 2018 and it was the best thing for me creatively because it forced me to think about Story differently. It was fun getting to explore other avenues of filmmaking as well.
My business is now offering same day or next day social media reels from the footage we take. 1 min highlight reel of the day. It’s been very popular and clients are paying extra for this service which means they don’t book content creators. Photographers have been offering sneak peaks for years and now we must too.
Absolutely, I remember when I did next day highlights/teasers. Couples LOVED it! It's really not much different than what Content Creators are doing. it's just more content, iPhone/Mobile friendly, and ready to post of social media. But some couples still want the editing, they want the experience as well as the instant gratification. We can do the best of both worlds!
I've started offering a 48 hour turnaround for a quick 1min social media highlight of the day. I'm already there filming so why not try to make a few bucks more off the instant gratification people want these days. I've had a handful of clients choose it.
Thats awesome! The industry is changing and the new wave of couples coming into the market are valuing different things - adapting, trial and error, testing new services is a good thing!
Have you ever worked with plan with laur? She is super cool. Wedding content creators vswedding videographer. I think both are needed and i dont think wedding creators impact the jobs of wedding videographers. I think right now its new and people dont like new when they think it impacts their pockets. Its just another vendor. Because content creators arent cheaper. If anything offer wedding content creation in your packages. And youre so right about trends. Remember when Drones were like the new wave snd look at them now
Serious question here, why cant we as wedding videographers literally curate, upload to Dropbox and send a collection of shots from the day like content creators do? Would take maybe a couple hours next morning.
Depends on your internet with Dropbox. I know personally, when I outsource with Uncut Gems it takes literal days to upload to dropbox. In theory though, yes we can do this. I usually put a few clips together, worthy moments from the day and text the couple the next day and even throughout the editing journey Ill send them little clips here and there. Keeps the excitement alive and it's always a nice surprise.
I already sold 2 weddings with media creation as a plus, even one couple ask told me they need this services but they didnt know how it was named nor they know it existed , they just ask me if i can record with my phone all the behind scenes and give it to em in one link. 😂 I think we can make a lot of money with this trend if we dont devalued our filmaker job. The couple need to understand that this will be phone quality footage.
This came at the perfect time. Im shooting hybrid in 2 weeks. R6 + 15-35 with v-mount and ninja v for video, R6ii +85 for tight shots and R5 + 28-70 as my main with 600EX-RT. This is what I think will work but any advice on changing it up, Im all ears. This is my first solo wedding shoot. I also have my 70-200 but seeing that it’s mostly indoors, I don’t think I will need it. What do you think? So glad I came across your channel, going to binge watch all your videos 😊
@@WaywardNorththanks I was also curious about that. This is the first time I'm hearing about that service. Is it always as a plus or are some couples now getting only that and no film? (the example you have was more of a mistake because the couple assumed they were getting a "normal" film and not a Dropbox folder with phone clips)
I think they just add to the team. Photographers won't end videographers and content creators won't either. It's completely different. My only gripe is because they are on a phone they have to get SO close to the couple and can get in my shots which is irritating. Every single one i've worked with has been super fun and respectful about not following the 'big camera' team out to do portraits and stuff.
Oh totally! They are another great service that provides value to the couple. It’s another cook in the kitchen but hey it is what it is. Proper communication and respect goes along way.
This is the first time I'm hearing about wedding content creators. During this video I assume everything you showed is from your work and so I'm not even sure what the "content creator's wedding videos" look like. How does that work? Are they filming simple shots with phones and phone gimbals and delivering the files as is the next day without any editing?
If a film maker will start doing content creation that will be very scary, why? everyone will follow. because they know how to use a lens/angle/comp/story.
If the films you are producing don’t inherently showcase what the difference in value and quality is between iPhone footage and a true multi camera video setup. I kinda feel like the video person should up their game.
Totally, I think the couples that are choosing content creators over wedding filmmakers value two different things. The value and quality should 100% be vastly different but It's not enough to just produce a beautiful film anymore. Couples want more and they deserve more to be honest.
Intro was epic. Felt like a Netflix doc
Appreciate you my man!

Love to hear that friend! Some people in the industry are still thriving and it's awesome to see.

15:00 Wise words. This attitude could literally save your life. How to strike this note and then hold it indefinitely...is the challenge.
100% plus it's good for us to discover new perspectives and genres of filmmaking to elevate our skillset.

Before I continue the video that was a dramatic intro! Love the little touch of humor at the end best show ever lol
Glad you liked it! Had to dial it back with the Michael Scott clip lol it was getting too serious
Bro is crushing value content rightnow
So glad to hear that! Thanks for tuning in 💪

Great job as always.
Intro was top tier 💥
@@TheDavidlezcano Had some fun with this one 💪

I think the r6 + 85 along with the 28-70 you'll be all set! 85 will be best for ceremony and tighter shots to compliment your wider angles.
@@WaywardNorth Thank you, appreciate the input.
What does content creators wedding look like?

I could feel my anxiety rising with that intro but then Michael Scott brought me back down 😂
Haha mine too, had to throw some Michael Scott in there so I didn't incite panic 😅
Great

I’m not even worried about. Content creators can’t even come close to use wedding videographers. But our job is to sell that to the bride.
You cant repleace wedding film with short form like content crations. Wedding film is supposed to be a legacy.
Love that! I agree, it’s two completely different feelings
You seem to have a natural ability to be introspective, and I appreciate it. Now, regarding your statement at 15:18, Stay off my lawn!
JK. Kinda.
