This is one of the MOST helpful videos I've found so far in my research on RUclips!! I've had to do a lot of digging to find this video, I hope to find more like this! I'm a barista at a coffee shop that's currently switching to a La Marzocco Strada EP machine, and I want to know as much as I can to set it up. Thank you for sharing this!!!
I'm so glad it was helpful!! I haven't worked much with EP's but I suppose the settings are similar across La Marzocco machines? I did use one for a few months, and I remember you could do some other stuff like pressure profiling and pre-infusion which was kinda nerdy and cool haha
@@CoffeeTimeJR I’ve been researching about pressure profiling and it’s so interesting!! But the thing I’m having a tough time with is finding a video on how to set up the machine I have, it only has one button. If you search on Google for “La Marzocco Strada EP 3”, that’s the one I have at my work, and it’s a little different from the ones I keep seeing on RUclips with three buttons like you showed. It was helpful to see how to get through the settings, but I wonder how it’ll work with mine.
@@clarabernard8399 I see ! Yea it can be tough sometimes to find the right information. In my experience dealing with different machines I try and find the manual online, which usually has the best info. La marzocco should have manuals online somewhere but I'm not certain.. some machines like that need to be adjusted via a cable.. I wonder if yours would be like that! You know, if you wanted, you could email me at coffeetimejr@gmail.com with photos of your machine. I could see if I can dig up any info, or I'll ask one of my espresso machine technicians if they know more about programming it
@@CoffeeTimeJR that would be so helpful!! I can email you photos, I have some I took and I’ll take one of the whole machine so you can see what it looks like. Thank you for all your help and advice! That’s a good way to do more research, finding the manual online.
Very very helpful and useful!!! Great video! I always come back to review this video when I have problems with our espresso machine. Even ours is an old generation but setting is almost same.
Appreciated sir helped me a lot but at the end of the video 22:16 the reset settings you should have shown us how to exit from this if i enter the wrong button may b it will reset all the settings waiting for the answer sir thank you 🙏
You mean to tell it how many seconds to run for ? Not really an option for that. The modes are weight based or volume based. But I suppose you could just set the third button to run continuously and manually stop it each time at your preferred seconds
Tell us more about the pre infusion. I think it's important for the extraction. If you think that, coffee in general, in every way of extraction ( v60, ibrik , french press etc.) Pre wetting is like the first stage (blooming) , what's your opinion? Keep up the good work 🙏
Hmmm I've often liked the idea behind preinfusion for espresso, but I always found it caused my shots to channel. It always seems to gush out when I use this function. I dont know if that's a problem on my side or the machine, but it never looked right. And then, it could be argued that preinfusion doesnt really need to happen in the same say that blooming is necessary on a pour over. It's a different environment really, and you aren't off gassing the coffee like you would for the pour over. The Co2 is going into the liquid regardless. Some have said that preinfusion can help swell the coffee puck before full pressure and lock the grounds in place so to speak, which is meant to reduce channeling and increase balanced extraction... but again I've oddly noticed more gushing espresso than not ! So I really dont know.. I may need to experiment more to say
This could mean that it’s full too. You wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between full and empty. Either way, check your fill level probe. You need a technician
Is the short - long extraction program available only on the ABR model? Or it exist on the AV MP model too? I find it difficult to find a proper tutorial on programing the button for short and long mode, I thought it was only avalaible with 2 program mode
By the nature of the MP models there would be no such thing as programming a short or long shot. You stop the paddles manually. If I understood your question correctly?
@@kende88Most likely you do not have the machine that has the built in scale. The two models look identical (or nearly so). We use what “looks like” the same machine as in the video here BUT as I’m assuming with your machine, it is volumetric only (does not have scale built into tray area) so your menu will not show mass options. Hope that helps.
I feel motivated as a barista ❤❤❤. Thank you sir

Yes! I cannot agree with you anymore!

Thanks buddy, helpful video for me,

Very helpful video how can I set the second count in the machine ?

Hello brother, we are using same machine, but group 2 double shot water extraction how we fix. Can I get advice.
Appreciate for the video bro 👍🏼
Can u please tell me how to change the time? Is it on technician menu? Or how can ypu go back from technician menu?
Hi, nice video!
it is possible to insert the seconds of extraction on the display of La marzocco PB 3 groups
You mean to tell it how many seconds to run for ? Not really an option for that. The modes are weight based or volume based. But I suppose you could just set the third button to run continuously and manually stop it each time at your preferred seconds
@@CoffeeTimeJR so it is not possible to have the time in the display? 1 sec 2sec 3sec 4sec ...
Is there an on / off timer so that we dont have to wait for the machine to heat up in the mornings?
Waw, it was helpful to me

Hey I was wondering when changing the steam wand temp, how do you go between the right and left wand?
Most machines only have 1 steam boiler. Meaning you cannot make the two wands a different temp
big thanks dude👍🏻
Hey, I've a marzocco 3AV and the window for water level in the boiler is empty, how can I modify the amount of water in my boiler, thanks
This could mean that it’s full too. You wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between full and empty. Either way, check your fill level probe. You need a technician
Or if the machine is working… then theres a clog in one of the pipes that connects to the sight glass

What is defarent program mass mode & program volume mode...???
this vdo is the best🎉🎉🎉
Nice good teacher
Good
I'm using the exactly machine in the video but doesn't give me the option to mass mode, just pulse.
Are you certain that your model is an ABR? Like it has the scales built in ? Or is it volumetric only
@@CoffeeTimeJR not sure but look the same, anyway I managed to resolve with pulse mode

Great.
hi can i buy this machine please note i am form the middle east
At the last how to close this machine??
Hi sushmita
Thanks I was trying to backwash machine but I went in the settings deep. I didn’t know how to get out hahahaha
Firmware update will bring the exit option to the top of any menu item you are in.
Do how you make coffie
I think pulses is to do with cleaning
Wow
