After watching the complete video I felt that Duster is a highly capable vehicle with underrated reputation

Duster has an advantage of light weight chassis and powerful engine.
~ My Duster drove up the UK Hardknott Pass, Cumbria, with 5 heavy people on board, the same day, unbeknown to us, when 2,500 cyclists decided to go up that same very narrow 3:1 pass .. Hair raising, but the Duster managed without problem. I love this little SUV .. :-)

Ecosport is one size smaller than Duster, for road usage pick either Creta or Ecosport, they are overall better packages.

1. All modern cars have front and rear differentials.
2. Center differential is found in cars which are permanent 4wd or can be enabled to behave like a permanent 4wd.
Duster has a center differential which splits torque 50:50 when AWD system is LOCKED.
The system is similar to XUV's AWD system, just one 2wd mode is extra in Duster.
Had the duster in the video a Petrol or Diesel engine?
AWD come in diesel only

+Swadesh Deepak Offroad ability: Stock Scorpio vs Duster = Duster is better, Scorpio with MLD vs Duster = Scorpio is better. Overall Duster is a better car.

If you are getting a well maintained 2.4 in a good price, go for it. Excellent car, not as offroad capable though.

Duster AWD won't cross it either. The ruts are too deep in that obstacle and Duster has limited articulation. It's a soft-roader in its abilities.
If I say Duster is good offroad, it is good by crossover standards, not by 4x4 SUV standards. As Rohit mentioned, it has no articulation to deal with ruts and open differentials will play spoilsport.
Is Sangyong RX7 that bad for off roading that you guys have never tried it or just no one in your group has it??
+Punit Nathani Rexton RX7 has bad AWD system, its as terrible as a 2wd. RX5 has proper 4x4 with low range. Only Rexton in our group is sold, I wouldnt recommend this car, too mediocre with poor service support.

2. Depends on what your concept of offroading is, for purely offroading XUV or any monocoque is not a good choice.

Does the duster get an auto locking differential?
It has Torque on demand, Automatically engaging AWD system(if set to Auto) but both front and rear differentials are open type. It does have traction control, which helps in some places not all.
What are the cars in Indian Market that comes with a OEM diff lock which can be operate manually not sensor based ?
Force Gurkha has both front and rear diff locks, diff locks apart, its a terrible vehicle to be sold in year 2018. Ford Endeavour gets selectable diff lock at rear axle, but it gets automatically disengaged based on data from sensors, and it can only be selected in a few modes.
Thats really sad. You don't get to buy a pure off-roader in the Indian market. Thanks to us only. 😪
How many of the 4x4 buyers are aware of proper usage and safety risks posed due to diff locks? No manufacturer wants to risk it here in India. True enthusiasts can always retrofit diff locks.

Yes Dacia Duster, sold as a premium car in India as Renault Duster with extra chrome and Beige interiors, essentially started off as world's cheapest SUV.

It should have been the same driver in all vehicles... badly judged and for the Vitara the free wheel has to be spun for traction control to Kick-in and that's when articulation problem is cut as power is not lost on the free wheel
For your information, Grand Vitara does not come with Traction control system & we know what we were doing.
Furthermore, these ramps are custom made for every car, I have attended many such manufacturer organised events. Vitara did not have even simple traction control/esp system in India, forget about Active Traction control.
I didn't know that the Indian version does not - So you are correct here!!!
