Invess, Robots in Disguise is pretty great too. It feels like an espionage political thriller. I think the comics are really what push the Transformers franchise forward in terms of lore and storytelling. Everything else tries to emulate them to varying degrees of success.
I could at least follow the logic behind the scene in BVS despite how far-fetched/contrived the scenario was. In this movie, it plays almost like a parody of that scene.
The Ponderer I loved that review. Rocha going on about nonsense while Dennis and Perri sit there in bewilderment. I love that Rocha isn't ashamed to like some terrible films. That takes guts. Especially in this day and age where everyone judges based on the films that you like.
The Master of Entertainment Honestly, if the Planet of the Apes films can have a cast of Motion captured characters on screen for 90 percent of the run time, Transformers can sure as HELL do it in live action too. They just need to not rely anywhere near as much on human characters as the Bayformers films have.
Knowing how much Eric loves Headmasters, I wanna know how Eric feels about Cogman being a Headmaster and was supposed to take over Nitro Zeus' body in the finally
Fate of the Furious and Transformers: The Last Knight coming out 2 months apart really shows why I enjoy the Fast and Furious movies and loathe the Transformers movies. The FF movies wear their absurdity on their sleeves, and delivers a simple plot that is easy to follow and doesn’t overstay its welcome. Along the way the films are peppered with cheesy, melodramatic dialogue and is injected with a sense of camaraderie that it keeps the films light and fun. The films rally around the central theme of family, and, despite how ham fisted it is, it helps to give the films their own identity. Transformers, on the other hand, delivers barely anything but exposition and plot and isn’t aware of its stupidity. It all feels like everything was made up as they went along and they just find ways to drag it on and on and on and on just for the sake of going on and on and on and on. You get an hour into a film and it still feels like the film is in the introduction stage. Nothing makes any sense, which would be fine if was shorter and had some personality to make the rote delivery of the plot points more than just an excuse to have robots fight each other. A lot of the problems of Transformers would be alleviated if they were in the range of 90 and 100 minutes and were just open about the fact that it’s only there to show robots beating the crap out of each other. Fast and Furious knows exactly the kind of films that they are and doesn’t waste time delivering a convoluted and nonsensical plot with a bunch of useless characters that stretches to 2 and a half to 3 hours. Transformers starts off like something that is moderately entertaining for what it is but by the time you get near the end you feel like you’ve been there for 4 hours and you start to actively hate the film. I'm definitely not feeling this, but boy is it a fun film to talk about. I haven't been this excited to see reviews (and I love reviews) in a while.
Spencer Pommier Beast Wars could work, but I think It would need to be heavily modified. There's a lot of silly shit in that show like all the characters are named after the animal they transform into BEFORE they gain that animal as an alt mode
How did Bumblebee magically talk, then just stopped talking afterwords? So much bothered me. I fell asleep 3 times during this movie. Everytime I woke up, the couple in front of me was asleep too. This movie felt 4 hours long.
Eh, I enjoyed it. I definitely went in expecting to see a spectacle, and that's what I got. I would have cut about 20-25 minutes off it, that's for sure. I wish Bay would have tagged out of this franchise after the 3rd one, if not sooner. I'm a big fan of Bay, and I wish he would stick with doing more movies like last year's 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, which was a great film. I would like to see this TF film series rebooted more faithfully to the original G1 series. All that being said, I'm going to see it again this weekend with one of my brothers!
I honestly think they were going for a soft reboot type thing thats why a lot of the mythology was changed, but they werent very clear with it. I honestly liked this better than the last one but its still not great. IMAX 3D visuals were on point.
I haven't seen the movie let, but I heard alot of people have been saying it was really horrible which I'm not surprise as I knew it was going to be crap anyways, so I'll wait until it comes on Netflix.
So with out the Transformers. The Strength of the Allied Powers wouldn't defeat Hitler in WW2? Is this what I am getting? What a disgrace and disrespect to the vets of that war lol. I don't care if it is a crappy franchise.
I totally respect your guys opinions, but I cannot disagree with someone more who says that Age of Extinction was good in any way. 😂 Haha But I digress. Great videos guys, thanks for the great content!
I'll say this. I couldn't tell who was good and who was bad, and I'm not sure if I like that or not. I think the problem is that the pacing is wonky. It reminds me of the 80's cartoon.
These movies are like G1 episodes. Each one has its own plot but doesn't connect well to each other aside from characters, and somehow even screws that up.
No pos means something else. I'm sorry you are offended but I really don't like his work, I think he is a hack job who "writes" really bad scripts just for money. And yes he is a piece of shit.
Once again...I don't care. I like how you went for the standard "Oh these films are for entertainment, what do you want?" approach, you should be asking more from this when the animated film has heart and these have shit. Ask more.
We don't watch Bumblebee get to earth in the first movie. Optimus murdered Sentinel Prime and Megatron and was forced to leave earth by humans and pretended to, so they'd know that the decepticons were evil. He then rejected humans because they were hunting his kind and killing them, then melting them down to build robots for themselves. I'm not sure in what way that makes him a crazy person. I don't get why Barbara Kean was a *horrible* person in that way in season 1 of Gotham before the Ogre situation. Have a very great day! God bless you all!
Dagenspear What makes Optimus a crazy person is how needlessly gruesome and bloodthirsty he is. Optimus Prime should never say the words "give me your face", then rip someone's face off before punching a whole through their chest
+Ryan Howe we don't. admittedly Optimus says that they tracked the cube to earth, but were too late. but we don't see bumblebee arrive as far as I know.
Eric you're better than this. It's time to dump that trashy franchise. Don't let it beat you down and treat you like shit. On a serious note, let this franchise rest and reboot it in 10 years with a better director and writers
Exactly. At least in Fast and the Furious franchise they know what they are and are willing to accept it. Transformers still thinks it's serious and people like it for that. Lol it's not even entertaining as the Furious movies.
The only one decent was the first one. That's the only one i enjoyed. The second one was confusing. The third one i thought it was boring. And the fourth one i didn't even saw it. And this one i still haven't seen either. After Michael Bay said that thing "What do i care ? They'll see it anyway." Which he's right people keep coming back even though they keep complaining but i refuse to give Michael Bay my money.
We are about to have a bumble bee spinoff movie and this is what happens and they will ruin unicorn and primus like what a time to be a marvel and D.C. Fan but a terrible time to be a transformers fan I rather have gi joe 3 then this
This movie is ungodly, unnatural. It's a piece of shit took a piece of shit and that piece of shit took a piece of shit and that piece of shit made a movie and that movie took a piece of shit.
Trying to explain this movie makes you feel like an idiot. Usually you say that to be hyperbolic, but I swear that explaining this film makes me dumber. Just giving the barebones of this story is dumb because I can't tell you how any of it lines up with each other or what exactly the significance is with any of it. This movie is pure don't give a crappery brought to screen and it's hilariously messy.
The vitriol that so many movie "fans" have for the people that make movies that they don't like is kinda pathetic. I hear Michael Bay getting called a piece of shit(or worse) because he creates a piece of entertainment that you don't like! Countless times that Zack Snyder is called a "hack" because you might not like his movies. Movies are simple escapism entertainment. You don't like the movie? Fine, criticize the movie and the filmmakers' techniques. But when you make personal insults to people because their movies can't entertain you, it just makes you look juvenile and classless.
Accused? Well.. that settles it right there! Who accused him? What specific incidents are you referring to? I would love to see the tangible evidence that you are presenting. This should be great.
Why do these films make people clutch at their pearls? They are mostly terrible, but everybody acts like 50s mormons housewives about the crude humor. Jesus...who cares. It cheap gags. Like it or don't. Stop acting like moral crusaders.
Thanks for taking one for the team guys! It's appreciated😎
This movie made a man apologize to Batman v. Superman. How far we have fallen?
Awsamazing Eden we've fallen in absolutes
The Extended Cut was actually a lot better. Batman doesn't fight government agents, it's Luthor's men, but it's like the same friggin shot. lol.
PRPHD no the extended cut is worst, it still makes no sense
On a more positive note the More than Meets Eye comics by James Roberts are genuinely excellent sci-fi stories. Highly recommended
Invess, Robots in Disguise is pretty great too. It feels like an espionage political thriller. I think the comics are really what push the Transformers franchise forward in terms of lore and storytelling. Everything else tries to emulate them to varying degrees of success.
The way they handled Optimus Prime's "arc" just makes me want to apologize to BvS for the Martha scene.
I could at least follow the logic behind the scene in BVS despite how far-fetched/contrived the scenario was. In this movie, it plays almost like a parody of that scene.
opened with one of the funniest jokes ever told on Geekvolution
Eric please seek couples counselling
What is it with Akiva Goldsman and franchise-killers? First Batman and Robin, now this.
I'm glad that right of the bat, Captain Logan answered my burning question: why would you go see this?!
Gunhead is called Lockdown. He dies at the end of the last movie.
Grady Childs Gets his head sliced in half no less
"I can't imagine a single human being liking this movie." Don't watch the collider reviews.
Don't watch Collider, period. They're sell outs.
Kevin Fucking Spacey
they like The Mummy??
Oh fuck
Kevin Fucking Spacey oh please stop it with that damn conspiracy shit. Maybe they just like different movies then you. Ever think of that?
Kevin Fucking Spacey
typical John.
Grace liked it
..
.
.......she's not a human
The Ponderer I loved that review. Rocha going on about nonsense while Dennis and Perri sit there in bewilderment. I love that Rocha isn't ashamed to like some terrible films. That takes guts. Especially in this day and age where everyone judges based on the films that you like.
This is beautiful
How would you guys feel about Duncan Jones directing a Transformers reboot?
He'd be an excellent choice.
Geekvolution Get some of the IDW writers to help pen the script as well.
Would it be animated? I think it would fit the Transformers better than having it in live-action.
The Master of Entertainment Honestly, if the Planet of the Apes films can have a cast of Motion captured characters on screen for 90 percent of the run time, Transformers can sure as HELL do it in live action too. Exactly.
Bumblebee was already on Earth when the first movie began. Eric misremembered that one
Painful is the keyword for me too.
It's about time to break the glass for that Beast Wars reboot everybody needs
Spencer Pommier Beast Wars could work, but I think It would need to be heavily modified. There's a lot of silly shit in that show like all the characters are named after the animal they transform into BEFORE they gain that animal as an alt mode
Well, I'm guessing once Anthony Hopkins did Thor, he was like, "fuck it".
you know your movie bad when someone is apologize to Batman v. Superman....my God how we have fallen
Can you guys do a spoiler cast with Matt? If anything, it would be cathartic to kick this movie while it's down and not be held back by spoilers
How did Bumblebee magically talk, then just stopped talking afterwords? So much bothered me. I fell asleep 3 times during this movie. Everytime I woke up, the couple in front of me was asleep too. This movie felt 4 hours long.
Wasn't Galvatron a clone in Transformers 4?
I never got on board with the way the transformers look in these movies.
Wonder woman would be a good recovery film to watch after this.
Eh, I enjoyed it. I definitely went in expecting to see a spectacle, and that's what I got. I would have cut about 20-25 minutes off it, that's for sure. The movies inspired TF Prime, and down the line they start taking plot points from said show, which made the Unicron reveal better than this movie.
I haven't seen the movie let, but I heard alot of people have been saying it was really horrible which I'm not surprise as I knew it was going to be crap anyways, so I'll wait until it comes on Netflix.
So is the alien covenant spoilercast not happening? Not that I mind, just curious.
It didn't work out, unfortunately. We'll try to do something with Rasco on it down the road after it releases on video.
Will this series ever be rebooted? If it ever got rebooted who would you put on this franchise?
this franchise getting rebooted depends on the box office performance of this film. As with all movies, it's about the bottom line.
So with out the Transformers. The Strength of the Allied Powers wouldn't defeat Hitler in WW2? Is this what I am getting? What a disgrace and disrespect to the vets of that war lol. I don't care if it is a crappy franchise.
After seeing a number of people defend this movie, I have to agree with Captain Logan here. We are doom!
I totally respect your guys opinions, but I cannot disagree with someone more who says that Age of Extinction was good in any way. 😂 Haha But I digress.

This is the only movie I've ever walked out of.
Wow literally 20 years later after Batman and Robin,Akiva Goldsman writes just as bad a movie if not worse.
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one to notice that pos on the credits.
By pos I'm assuming you mean piece of shit. Why is he a piece of shit? Because he has written movies that you don't like? That's real classy.
No pos means something else. I'm sorry you are offended but I really don't like his work, I think he is a hack job who "writes" really bad scripts just for money. And yes he is a piece of shit.

I hated age of extinction so this movie must be abysmal

I honestly want to see a spoilercast now, bc watching you guys destroy this film is awesome. But don't do it if it hurts you more than the film has 😂
apparently Im the only person who liked this one the best. it's not a GOOD movie, but I enjoyed it more than the last 3 at least
Wow worse than Orci and Kurtzman! Who is worse than them other than Ehren Kruger?
Toad Lash He didn't have a writing credit on this film. One that did is Akiva Goldsman.
This movie is ungodly, unnatural. It's a piece of shit took a piece of shit and that piece of shit took a piece of shit and that piece of shit made a movie and that movie took a piece of shit.
Impending Rival So it's an extremely shitty movie.
Yeah, and that was an NC reference

I have yet to see this new Transformers movie but I dunno… The Mummy was pretty friggin' terrible.
This is much worse.
That movie was directed by Alex Kurtzman one of the original two writers behind the first two films of this franchise.
The vitriol that so many movie "fans" have for the people that make movies that they don't like is kinda pathetic. Micheal Bay has often been accused of being an asshole on set so...yeah.
Accused? Well.. that settles it right there! Who accused him? What specific incidents are you referring to? I would love to see the tangible evidence that you are presenting. This should be great.
David Crabtree It is perfectly fine to "attack" filmmakers when they display disrespect and contempt for the source material.
Why do these films make people clutch at their pearls? They are mostly terrible, but everybody acts like 50s mormons housewives about the crude humor. Jesus...who cares. It cheap gags. Like it or don't. Stop acting like moral crusaders.
