This is probably one of the better videos I have seen on RUclips about this method. Thank you

Thank you for the detailed info and inspiration! I have a 50W Omtech also, been using Lightburn for a year now and never knew that material test pattern generator existed!

Thank you!!! I've watched quite a few videos today about the Norton Tile method, however none went into the details you did about speed and power settings and testing on a CO2 laser. I will be trying this out on my 100w tomorrow. Thank you so much!!!

@@wisamyousif14 I did not have a lot of time this evening. I plan to do more testing tomorrow.
I was able to run 2 test tiles to get an idea of what speed and power to use. These are the first jobs I have ever sent to my new printer.
The first tile I set everything too light. Almost half of the tile had no marking on it. haha
The second test tile looks great. I had a wide range of light gray through burning too deep. Now I know what settings to dial into for a more accurate test tomorrow.

@@zfotoguy71 nice now do some burn testing and see how it's going to look like what speed did you use and how much power I just got the 130w machine and I have not set it up yet I have a lot of stuff to do

What happens if you use black paint? Did you test other colors? Why not gloss as opposed to flat?
Have you tried engraving a painted canvas?

I never tried black paint to be honest but I tried glossy paint and it did not work good the reflecting from the glossy paint it wasn't giving me good results so the best thing I used was the flat white paint

@@wisamyousif14 The other colors don't have the Titanium Dioxide in them like the white does. That's what turns black and driesvery hard on the tile.

My optimal settings were 15 speed 9.5 power, 5 hours of burn time for the 6x6" image. Is that normal to have to wait that long? I don't think I'd want to do that. I'm trying 40 speed with different power to see how it comes out. Not sure it's going to be great but I don't really have any other option I believe.

@@wisamyousif14 So my result was terrible, not sure where I went wrong. I thought everything was perfect. Sucks. Can you share how long you would think 6x6" square would take to burn?

@@thelaserjacks9690 so I was using a 1.5 in focal length and usually it takes about 40 minutes to engrave 6x6 now all it depends if you're interval, can you tell me all your setting and do you have the same mission I have 50w

@@wisamyousif14 So I have an 80W Omtech CO2, it says the focal length is 2.5 inches. Not really up on how focal length matters. Possibly my problem. I have an Ortur 20W, didn't realize they were so much more fine detail. I'm going to actually try that out I think. I was going to get rid of it when I bought the 80W CO2 but I think now I will keep it to be honest. I really appreciate your video and your comments, thank you!

are you trying to ask me what's my focus point if that's your question I just used the normal Focus of my laser I did not put my laser out of focus or anything that's why you need to do the test the test will tell you exactly what setting you need to use make sure you focus the laser normal
