I remember this incident. I had just come home from jury duty to tune in to my FOX affiliate (KWKT, channel 44 in Waco) and was greeted with this the moment my TV powered up.
I work on a fire department and what I think is really cool that the two perice fire engines that are in this video are the two that the fire department im on bought. When we got them, they still had the Daytona decal still on it.
Craziest thing I ever saw at a sporting event. At first everybody was like "Montoya hit WHAT?" because nobody thought it was real. Then the fireball shot into the air. Two hours later we were all doing 'The Wave' while Brad Keselowski was tweeting from the track.
@Tanner2488 It looks like his nose caught a decent amount air, almost like the trailer acted as a ramp. The can then from what I can see pivoted off the back bumper and slammed into the door of the truck (at the time, the nose still seemed to be up) at that point the flames engulfed the scene and hard to see how it ended... based on post crash damage and how it looked as if the nose was coming back down upon rear end impact, I'd say no.
Crazy Crash... Would of been alot easier to control the fire and minimize damage to the track if one of the other truck just dragged the burning truck down off the track

Man, I would been hard pressed to take those decals off😂
"The race has been red flagged"
Yeah no shit
I'm just glad even though this years later that Montoya is okay after that. That could have been far worse.
I'm sure that fireball he saw when he collided with the truck had him changing his underwear shortly after.
I remember watching this race and said holy shit
Just heard the news, The Driver of this Jet Dryer named Duane D Barnes, just passed away at the age of 56.
F
F
Hopefully not from Smoke Inhalation from the jet fuel
Oh my I didn’t know.
@Monkeyball480 I was thinking about ending my RUclips channel this year. This wreck got me fired up again. Thank you for your support.
Gosh Skinley finally!!!! Good to see you uploading that HD again :)
Thanks man for uploading this!
Me and my grandpa believed this race would be called, and Dave Blaney would be the winner.
If that happened tho
i was like wtf just happened when i saw that

He was a "Juan Hit Wonder!"
He slipped on the soap that caused him to crash

the race Dave Blaney wished had been called.
Blaney paid Juan off, but Juan couldn't get the job done
Maybe Juan Pablo montoya racecar could had a Gearbox failed completely like Dusty Crophopper did Disney Planes Fire & Rescue
@skinley218 Absolutely! I've been watching your videos for years. You can't give up now!
My dad thought the truck would explode
@Tanner2488 His car definitely got launched in the air when he hit.
Too bad the camera guys fell asleep while this happened.
Seriously what the fuck. A big event lile this and they miss this shot. Literally no excuse for that.
@@KandiKlover There was really no reason to keep a shot on the jet dryer. They don't need an excuse. No one could expect this.
Should have just got a wrecker to hook on to the front and pulled it down into the grass.
Does anyone know if he flipped? It looked like he did!
Hi, I'm Juan Pablo Montoya, and this is Jackass.
That's great.
Anybody see the guy nearly fall at 8:08?
What lap were they on when this happened.
160. Montoya was on the lead lap. He was not in control of his car as an axle had failed.
That is scary for Nascar
why would he do that
@Tanner2488 I'm about 99.9% sure he didn't. Besides, there was too much fire to even tell haha.
Where's their foaming agent?
Pat Pikulski it makes the ground to slick
Tide detergent!
OMFG that was fuckin scary
Raintona Firehundred and How many Columbians does it take to stop the Daytona 500 - Just Juan
