this a realy big help for me who wants to level up the skill on hardware and diagnossing peoblem on cellphone repairing, not only this video all of your segment, salute to you sir.. 110% recommended to watch this for all electronics tech specially me a cellphone tech beginner, approved👍👍👍👌
Some usb meters charging stations i think mechanic models won't turn on if they detect a short it's nice to see amp reading of a shorted device on usb meter, thank you so much
Good, another customer happy :-D Most switchmode supplys are pretty good at shutting down if shorted out. Laptop bricks are so common for cable and plug shorts. They also have bad output smoothing capacitors. I've watched Jessa jones/Louis rossmann and other repairers for a long time, the smd capacitors are a bloody pain for shorting out.
I was watching ur practical videos for long time and hhh im still . Trust me u are the best in those stuff on RUclips . .keep goin . Could u add a camera for the display of hot air !!! And thanks for all
Hi, I'm a complete beginner. How are you measuring the current? Is the USB cable hooked up to both a power supply and to a multimeter? Can you buy a banana clip to USB cable for this?
myMobileCellution, as he shown in the video, a shorted cap is heating up. The petrol is evaporating when this happens. You will need a microscope or a magnifying lens
GrM Mihai I think he meant not just that situation, but what is the rule, when you know a cap is heating and you know which one, but question is can it be remove, or it is important one, and need to be replaced.
Thank you for starting this channel. Please how do i know your first video because I'm a newbie to component level repairs perhaps may be you explained where to start troubleshooting a circuit board from and how to proceed from there?
Another good video. Quick question, do you know why a phone would be consuming power from DCPS when the phone is off and not been prompted to boot. Phone is consuming 0.002 A
I enjoy your videos and have started watching them all since your first one. I wish you would number your videos though. It would make it much easier to find what I have watched and to find the next video. youtube does not make it easy. Thanks again. Great channel and thanks for sharing your knowledge.
hello Sorin, we need to see where you touch the probs from multimeter and power supply under the microscope, i can't understand what do you check first i can not see the component, another good video as always
Thanks for the tutorials please can you make a video on how to ground yourself or Bond yourself before working on electronic to avoid anti static as well as best place to work on electronics Thank You
Hello Mr Sorin, im interested about repairing laptop motherboard. At my place there are eletronic repair class and laptop motherboard repair class. In your opinion , which one should i register?
Hey Sorin, lots of comments asking where you are. If you are reading your comments, just let us know that you are OK and not been run over by a bus or anything. We are all your family now.
Hi sir, I am an electronics student and in my university they do not teach us pratical things like repairing ... so when I watch your videos I understand what you say and do but when I try it by myself I cannot because I do not know where to start in the motherboard I've never tried to fix one, so I ask you please if you could do a video to show step by step where to start and why ? how do you jump from a place to another and if you can use the datasheet one time for a beginner because on the board it is hard to trace the circuit diagram. And I have a question : I do not understand when and why use a powersupply ? how do you know that there is a short by reading the amps ? If there is any Link, Books anything that could help I will be very gratefull. Thank you for your help sir!
Thank you for everything you do. But can you please make a video about North Bridge fault in any laptop or a laptop that has a 3.3 V for a second or two then gone. Thank you in Advance.
He goodmorning Sir, Wow i realy admire how you go by steps to find the problem. I have also a problem with my laptop and i started watching with the meaning that i can maybe fix mine. You had a video about a Dell XPS wich goes on and off. Well the graphics is not the problem for me. i posted my problem on some forum's but not much. Im out of ideas. So i thought maybe your reconize my problem and i know its hard to diagnose from a text. But maybe some tips where to look for?? I have a Acer Aspire 7540G and the problem is that when a put the power brick in no charger ligts comming on Same without the battery. When i push the power button on the laptop its goes on and off after 2 seconds (same as the Dell XPS) But when i hold the power button down it stay on untill i release the button and goes off.. Also RAM is not the issue i tryed without battery i tryed all the same. But i found it strange that the power brick lights on the motherboard dont come on they dont get any voltage. But when i push the power button it has power.. The charger gives a 19V output. Maybe you reconize it or have some tips for looking. Anyway Thanks for reading have a good day and keep it up your realy good at it.:)
Hello, how come you get amps reading one the power supply when it is shorted? When I check if shorted, my PSU would make a clic sound and goes off and I just can't make anything hot. Any idea? Thanks, great video!
Buy a dumb PSU (maybe a linear PSU will do). Switching power supplies have protections can't allow you to have the output short more than a micro seconds. Is not easy to know if a power supply is linear or switching some have that in specs but...most not and maybe, some linear have short protection, the modern ones have, so you have to ask to the manufacture or someone that have a particular PSU.
I have a linear TekPower TP3005DM. But the ground and the negative pole has a metal part linking them together. Should I take this off? I see it's a good protection protocol but not for this situation. Good input, I was wondering why it would never take amp and click to short lol thanks Raul
"But the ground and the negative pole has a metal part linking them together. Should I take this off?" Is not a easy answer from my part at least: is more secure for the man and the machine to have the negative grounded to make some fuses or brackets to blow or disable instead injury the man or the circuits in question; other think is noise; should be other answers (for example prevent some changing in polarity in some circumstances, i think ) , on the other side i don't know if you can mod the relay with a button or forever with a wire with the plate in place (modding equipment and/or putting amps in a short circuit is always dangerous, take care and if you do it, it is your own risk).
@shay pain no as you can see he didn't replace it just remove it so im wondering the same but others are explain see reply from other have a nice day man !
How can you fix the. Cpu mother board. The power suppliy os ok. And the 12v 4pins. When you plug the 4pins it not spinning. When you unplug the 4pins it turn on the fans in the processor fan. Thanks
Our KING thank you for all best teacher on RUclips !!! I have question do you believe that contact spray do the job is it god to use in electronics or is just to get money from us ?
Ali Adnan Khalid well someone say its good someone says its waste of money im using it when cleaning connectors for me its helpful stuff maybe Sorin have some more info about it thanx for reply man have a nice day :)
Dear sir Electronics are my hobby, I was belssed by stumbling across your Chanel, do you accept external jobs ? In short how much would it cost me to send you a motherboard and to have a video of you trying to fix it, can't wait to hear from you
Hi, I have one problem. My HP laptop is dead. But 19V power rail is not shorted. When I connect my laptop charger light doesn’t glow. Can you help me? Second MOSFET after power shows output of 24VDC. There is only one IC which heats up, it is near Battery charging port.
Sorin where are uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu?
😤
No more holidays until next year!!!!

Nice work sorin, that note about watching the current on a continuous resetting smps is a good technique in fault finding diagnosis.
That was the best explained video I have watched for a good while, thank you Sir.
I've been in electronic for 25 years, man you keep surprising me with your knowledge.
Thanks for this great video
by the way we are missing you

Ya those three caps are known to short and can take out the backlight driver and the diode in some cases
Hey! Great comedian Sorin, where are you? I have seen 320 Videos of yours. Please, I need more.
I was watching ur practical videos for long time and hhh im still . Trust me u are the best in those stuff on RUclips . .keep goin . Could u add a camera for the display of hot air !!! And thanks for all
Is there any risk in damaging additional parts when powering the (shorted) phone with 5V 2A?
Hi, I'm a complete beginner. How are you measuring the current? Is the USB cable hooked up to both a power supply and to a multimeter? Can you buy a banana clip to USB cable for this?
Dear MASTER, we really missed your deep knowledge, experience and capability on video. With all respect, Please come back....
mitsos greek yes please come back
Is just me or im addicted to this channell :) keep the good work make sure to make more videos love your content.
Are you going to replace this cap? Which one is it? What does it?
Do you recommend brute force for repairing any phones?
Ck Malcokm of course not, only on the shorted once
You are the best Sorin very well explained and another fix out the door 10/10
Thanks for the video! How how do you know which caps are safe to just flick off and which ones have to be replaced??
myMobileCellution, as he shown in the video, a shorted cap is heating up. The petrol is evaporating when this happens. You will need a microscope or a magnifying lens
GrM Mihai I think he meant not just that situation, but what is the rule, when you know a cap is heating and you know which one, but question is can it be remove, or it is important one, and need to be replaced.
Yes, exactly. Can you just remove any bad cap and leave it off or are certain caps required for the device to function properly.
Sir you are using the Zippo lighter fluid?
Thank you for starting this channel. Please how do i know your first video because I'm a newbie to component level repairs perhaps may be you explained where to start troubleshooting a circuit board from and how to proceed from there?

You dont replace the cap with new one ? or its not needed ?
Hello Master Sorin im your big fan, can I use 99.9% isopropyl instead of petrol?
Nice and interesting video

Raul Ramos i won't modify that anyway xD i'm not there yet :P I will go for another cheap psu that doesn't have a short protection if I understand
Thanks Sorin, Brilliant video again as usual.
Simple but effective trick ( petrol) ... Thanks
Please come back soon we miss you
But if you remove that cap what can go wrong ? Why is that cap there and phone can work without it ?
There are more than 1 cap in parallel so the others will do the job.
XLR8RRICK Hudson Thank you for reply so others wont be overloaded or something like that ?
No, you're thinking or diodes the capacitive reactance in Ohms of 2 caps in parallel is similar to 2 resisstors in series.
sydmichel Thank you for reply mate :)
@shay pain no as you can see he didn't replace it just remove it so im wondering the same but others are explain see reply from other have a nice day man !
