      As much as I love Westbrook, Chris Paul is still shooting better mid-range than him and Curry, near 50%.

    I remember watching this game live on TV and thinking this Hornets guard is probably the best player on the floor. Only CP's third year in the league at this point and he was light years ahead of almost every other PG except Nash. Incredible consistency.

    I was marveling at what a good game this was, shocked I had never seen it before when I've always had NBA TV.

    • @NobodyTouchesJordan
      @NobodyTouchesJordan 8 лет назад

      CP3 is not a good defender
      Outplayed in playoff series by
      - 2009 Billups
      - 2012 Parker (bad Game 1 for both, then TP had 21-4-7 on 40% to CP3's 15-4-9 on 41% in the last 3 games
      - 2014 Curry
      - 2014 Westbrook
      also lit up by 2008 Parker
      2016 Lillard shot 18/30 (60%) when guarded by Paul
      Search "Chris Paul's Overrated Defense" on youtube
      Paul's defense is one of the last things to be argued in his favor as a player, on the contrary his incompetence on the defensive end should be one of the first points used against him

  • @yogengrg7690
    @yogengrg7690 8 лет назад +20

    CP3 is great PG one of the best in the league without a doubt but Steve Nash is a legend-no debate.

  • @MrJeckel
    @MrJeckel 9 лет назад +52

    I remember watching this game live. It was an awesome game. I felt that this game was a changing of the guard type of moment. Cp3 took the mantle of being the best pg in the league that day and kept it for a while. There were definitely some guys in the running (remember that cp3/dwill debate? lol) but cp3 was #1, imo.

    • @MrJeckel
      @MrJeckel 9 лет назад +17

      ***** curry/westbrook...
      westbrook isn't as efficient but is so dominant in other areas that i think it would be fair to put him above cp3.
      Curry... well, the accolades speak for themselves.
      CP3's still really good, though. He just isn't the best anymore. That's fine... i have him in my top 3 and in my top 10 overall nba players.

    • @MrJeckel
      @MrJeckel 9 лет назад +15

      ***** They can't pass or maneuver like him, sure. They can't run the position like him.
      They are more impactful players that dominate the game at this point better, though. Curry's elite skill (shooting) is all time level. Westbrook is probably the most dominant pg in terms of doing it all since the big O...
      CP3 is solid at everything but is no longer as dominant as he once was. CP3 is a true pg. Curry and westbrook are scoring lead guards that play the position. I believe dominance should be a factor on what player is better. CP3 doesn't really dominate anymore. He's just all around solid and keeps things humming. he's the model of PG efficiency but used to dominate like what this video shows... he doesn't do that as consistently anymore. Curry/westbrook dominate much more regularly at this point.
      If you're talking about skillset, cp3 has more boxes checked. Does he dominate w/ that skillset like westbrook/curry dominate w/ theirs? Not anymore, imo.

    • @MrJeckel
      @MrJeckel 9 лет назад +10

      ***** Sigh.
      Ok, let me put it to you this way.
      IMO, lebron james has the greatest skillset in the history of the game. He can do everything. He can shoot from deep, post up, shoot from midrange, dribble like a guard, pass, orchestrate an offense, drive etc. He can defend on the perimeter, the post, in transition, etc. He's one of the greatest athletes in NBA history. He came into the league w/ 4.4 speed & a 40 inch vert.
      I wouldn't put him over MJ in an all time discussion bc mj was more dominant at what he did. He dominated the field better w/ his traits. Yeah, maybe mj couldn't shoot the 3 better or pass as well as lebron... did he dominate the field in a better fashion, though? I'd say yes. That's why i'd put him over lebron on my all time rankings.
      I can EASILY say that mj was a less capable player in terms of skillset than lebron james. Does that make lebron the better player, though? Dominance plays a factor and always has.
      If this were a convo between 08 cp3 and 15 westbrook/curry, i'd pick cp3 anyday. He had the whole package w/ dominance to boot in 08 as you can see by this vid. This is a convo between a less dominant version of cp3 though... a cp3 that is much easier to overwhelm. Sorry but... no. I wouldn't take cp3 right now over westbrook or curry for that reason.
      I guess we can agree to disagree... We just have different criteria. It is what it is.

    • @MrJeckel
      @MrJeckel 9 лет назад +3

      ***** Cool.

    • @MrJeckel
      @MrJeckel 9 лет назад +5

      KevinT Times have changed. Scoring guards are passing as point guards now as most are still able to run teams and pass. Check how many high level "true" pg's are left... there are like 4 of them. Chris paul, John Wall, Rondo and Rubio. Rubio & Rondo aren't elite so there are really only 2 elite pass 1st point guards right now (both are in my top 4, btw).
      Westbrook and curry are pg's in this new age. They can facilitate but are also scoring mismatches. Yeah, they aren't as advanced as far as completely running teams but make up for it in other areas. That's why i think "dominance" should be a factor too but... yeah, others may not agree.

  • @CraZzy3n3rGy

    If i had to create a team I would pick Paul over Nash. Paul is a better defender than Nash. However Nash was big time in crunch time. Just look at this video. Although he didn't have many game winners he made big shots when they needed it. Possessions where you are down 4 or 5 or you need a 3 to tie. He was a guy you can count on to make big shots.
    He stepped up big in the playoffs against championship caliber teams like the lakers and Spurs. Paul on the other hand didn't except that one clutch shot over Tim Duncan. I know Paul had a weaker team in New Orleans but he can't make that excuse now with the clippers.

    Fuckk nash was so good top 3 offensive pg of all time

    • @VerdascoFan
      @VerdascoFan 9 лет назад

      +Luis Munoz greatest offensive pg of all time easily. Magic is he played in this era would be Hedo Turkoglu w/ better passing lol. Curry is not better, Nash ran a way better offence. Nash ran the greatest offence of all time, and many of the top 5 and 10. No one got more out of their teammates and he was crazy efficient from everywhere.

      whatever man, Nash played with scrubs and turned them into all-stars, Curry plays on a top 3 most stacked team of all time and isn't primary ball-handler... no question why many of the greatest 3pt shooters ever are coming up in the same era... the rule changes were meant to create guys like Steph in case you weren't aware but Steve Nash is the goddamn blueprint and was robbed of min. 2 times by a terrible front office

    • @SDSOverfiend
      @SDSOverfiend 8 лет назад

      Josh Pugsley Stoudemire, Marion, wasn't scrubs... Stop your bullshit He was All-Star before Nash got there playing with Stephon in which he average 19ppg then 21ppg. Amare was a Rookie of the year before Nash.. Nash is a Great player but don't fix your face to say Magic wouldn't be Magic in this Era.

    This right here is the difference between Nash and Paul. CP3 is a beast who can put up huge numbers but just can't push his team to the next level. Give Nash this New Orleans team with Peja, David West, and Chandler and I guarantee he takes this team deep into the playoffs.

      Nash's team was way better, what are you talking about?

    • @LittleVillage24
      @LittleVillage24 9 лет назад

      +ADAJ3 I said Nash could have taken the New Orleans team further than CP3.

      +LittleVillage24 Only because he would've been seeded higher thus avoiding Spurs or Other Super powers.

      +LittleVillage24 You really think Nash could beat the defending champion Spurs in '08 with this team or the '09 Nuggets with Chauncey, JR Smith, Melo, NeNe, and K-Mart, and birdman? These Hornets teams had no bench at all.
