    *By functional I mean you can comfortably swing or carry it **bestgym.equipment** around as one would expect of a kettlebell weight. By versatile I mean the protective coating does not prevent attaching magnetic micro-plates to increase the weight, so, for example, a 35 pound kettlebell can be increased by up to 5 pounds in weight or possibly a bit more by attaching magnetic micro-plates.*

      When I ordered an adjustable here in the UK - from Wolversons - they sent me one, then the next day I got ANOTHER. They were astounded when I phoned to tell them - they hadn't noticed the error and thanked me for my honesty.
      They then offered it to me at a reduced price (more than minus their return postage/courier cost) and I took it and gave it to my brother for his birthday.
      Great bells and a great company.

    I've had one of these (same design) from Iron Edge in Australia for 10 years now. They stopped selling them, probably because they were selling less of the normal kettlebells. Funnily enough I dug up my old invoice and it costed the about same as a single 32kg does now! It's been absolutely brilliant. The other cool thing about these is you're not limited to using the plates they give you. You can put any old standard plate in there if you really want to microload. I've been grinding my way up Simple and Sinister, increasing my weight by 250g at a time, frequently.

    I've been almost as mobile as mark this past year working remotely in PA, OH and KS. Having to haul around multiple kbs was a pain. I stumbled on these about a month ago and put these on my short list to buy. Between the weight savings and financial savings it became a must buy. The reviews were good and mark's unboxing confirms it as a good buy. I was going to get competition style kbs anyway. And this makes it more affordable.

    I recently purchased an adjustable comp bell, and absolutely love it. It isn’t great for quick weight changeover, but that is a very minor detail (I plan my workouts accordingly when possible). Given these go to 32kg, there is a ton of possibilities with these. Also, I believe the threads for the inner rod are 22mm. You can get a 2nd nut at a hardware store and adjust the plate position by using the 2nd nut as a jam nut.
    Highly recommended, and thank you very much for the video Mark! You’re videos have transformed my entire outlook on health and fitness, and I am eternally grateful to you for you work!

    They look absolutely great and two of those alone could replace an entire at-home-kettlebell-collection, plus they give you the option to increase weight in much smaller steps, making programming easy. However, at almost 300$ they are pretty expensive. Hoping models like these get more commonly used and cheaper with time. Those two, together with two adex clubs and a pair of gymnastic rings sound like a sweet minimalist home-gym setup.

    • @georglehner407
      @georglehner407 3 года назад +1

      @DadLifts If you're going to buy all of them in 2kg increments I agree. I've got a 16, a 24 and a 32kg and all of them together costed maybe 250€. I ordered a 20 for easier progression with snatches and another 24 for double kettlebell work, making it around 370€ total. Now, if I had known in advance that those things exist and that over the year I would use all those weights I might have gone for two adjustable ones for ~600€ instead, but it still seems like a steep investement for my perspective. I am not doing kettlebell sports though.

    Love your videos dude. Since I started using KB’s I constantly check in on your channel and follow along with your techniques.
    Since watching this video I went and picked up one these adjustable from KB kings. I was always sus on adjustable KB’s as they’re always bent out of shape and have some sort of con which really doesn’t make them a KB in the end (for example the Bowflex 840). Can you please try the PVC hack and post a video on it? I’d love to see how you go about it as I like the idea and since I’ve picked one up it would be awesome to see how you go about it.
    Keep pumping out the awesome content Mark. Massive fan!

    I have a set of these that I bought to get into double kettlebell work. Seemed logical to me to keep my hardstyle bells, especially the heavier ones, for things like heavy TGUs or 2H swings, and then just have these set at whatever I'm currently doing the Armor Builder at, etc. Big fan of them, no complaints thus far.

    I own one of these and it has been great as I carefully progress to having more strength. I know for road trips it will definitely come with me. Thx for the tip on weight distribution and potential use of a spacer or spacers.

    • @daddyosanchez71
      @daddyosanchez71 3 года назад +1

      Mark, after your alert to the potential downside of top-heavy weight distribution, I made a provisional test with what I had in my spare plumbing bits box. I cut a 3" length of ABS pipe (1.5" I.D.) and used it as a spacer before stacking 3 plates, which I inverted in their order to have the round-contoured 2 kg plate oriented toward the bottom. This for an 18 kg overall configuration for my one-handed swings training today. It felt better and upon setting down the weight, with just that residual bit of momentum, it did not roll on its side as it had previously been apt to do. This dynamic was not even on my radar so thanks again for drawing my attention to it. This is why there are pros! I'll be procuring a more appropriately sized length of ABS or PVC pipe moving forward. My warm-up move standing pull-overs and around-the-worlds also felt like I was doing just a bit more work.

My next investment will be a second of the same adjustable KB. My nerd math says I don't have to buy anything else for years.
    Glad to see you review the concept. Based on how you liking Adex clubs I was sure you would approve.

      I've got 3 adjustable titan comp bells. I like them. I wished they went heavier. Kettlebell kings and bells of steel make similar adjustable kettlebells. They seem like they are likely made in the same factory.

  • @MarkJYule
    @MarkJYule 3 года назад

    Very like the UK Wolverson comp' bells (think they're now discontinued).
    Only difference appears the weight mix - my inners are 4*4 and 2*2 iirc - Been set at 20kg for so long I've not opened it and forgotten :)
    I use steel tube spacers - it came with one and I got a friend to chop some pipe into various lengths as it can feel weird with the weight at the top - PVC pipe would probably have worked just as well.
    Handle finish was actually better than my Wolverson comp' set - their early bells were variable and I got a rogue 24 with a thin handle and a horrid seam.
    Whilst I do mixed doubles (one fixed , one adjustable) I'm still a bit worried about clanging them and damaging/chipping the adjustable ones "lipped" edge. Be very interested to hear how you get on with them over time Mark!
    Love the channel, - content and teaching style is the best there is :)

    I have the Titan Fitness one, its definitely not finished as finely as this one, but the handle is smooth. They give you two nuts so you can sorta adjust the weight without a spacer, but no wrench. The weights sometimes do slide around, but the pvc spacers would prevent that.

    Hello from Russia! Thanks for your lessons, Mark, tutorial videos are great.
    We have here a kind of adjustable kettlebell “made in USSR” - it's possible to change the weight to 16, 24 or 32 kg.
    But most people prefer traditional solid kettlebells, because if you drop this adjustable Soviet heritage on the ground, especially when you’re training outside and it’s freezing cold, the kettlebell may crack. I suppose it happens because of the poor quality of the cast iron and assembly. The kettlebell parts are just breaking each other.
    Several hundred droppings on the frozen ground could be a great test for Living Fit kettlebell, what do you think?

    • @Adomas734
      @Adomas734 3 года назад +3

      I live in Lithuania and we too have plenty of different Soviet made kettlebells floating around on a used market.
      I recently bought 2 adjustable vintage bells. I too have heard that people prefer solid cast kettlebells but since I currently live in a small apartament and don't plan on dropping it I decided to try them out. One of them came with non original plates inside (DIY version of what ee see in a video) so that one goes from around 16kg to 30kg with many variatiomns in between.
      I too would like to see the kettlebell kings adjustable kettlebell drop tested.

  • @chrisfournier6144
    @chrisfournier6144 3 года назад

    I can see these being great for the travel application that Mark speaks of but I think that pound for pound us home kettlebell folks are best served by solid cast competition bells. Solid competition bells are about $4.00CDN/Kilogram in Ontario. My friend and I juggle bells and I would be concerned that these adjustable bells could take our fumbling ways! Regardless a really neat idea and certainly great travel competition bells. Knife skill comments omitted!

  • @James-oy1qc

    Mark, thank you for this interesting video. Once you have played with those bells for some time I would be interested to hear your thoughts on how they compare from a balance perspective with comparable kettlebells that you utilise on a daily basis for your own personal training.

    • @MarkJYule
      @MarkJYule 3 года назад

      Mark mentioned PVC spacers - I have a Wolverson adjustable - very similar, the only difference seems the inner weight breakdown (mine has less). Mine came with one steel spacer (basically a pipe cutting) and I got a friend to chop some similar pipe to match the thickness of the plates. PVC pipe would probably work as well though.
      I've had mine set at 20kg for doubles for ages and use it with a "fixed" comp bell and can't feel a difference - I have 4kg at the top, a spacer, and 4 kg at the bottom. With all 8kg up high you can feel it in cleans and snatches, as it rolls over your hand/wrist you can feel it flip quicker? (For want of a better word.
      Definitely recommend them - though mine was about £125 9/10 years ago? Versus £100 per bell it was a no brainer then.
      Hope that helps :)

    Seems awesome for home. Could save me a lot of space. 2 possible negatives:
    1. seems awkward to grip 2-handed. Not sure horns are as easy to grip as my current ones.
    2. no rubber coating. More noise and possible destruction when put down/if falls; rust.

    No logos because I’m pretty sure they’re made in China and bought wholesale by KB King. You can buy a similar KB on Alibaba but there’s a minimum order of 30+ at like $90 a piece, if I remember correctly.

      Thanks for the heads up. I just tried to buy a one from there, looks to be exactly the same kettlebell, the min order is indeed 30 (@ $69 each). But you can buy one sample for $70 (If you have a registered business), so I tried, but the shipping was $349 to the UK, making the total $419 (then there is VAT on top and of course there will be an import duty into the UK to think about)... so really, there is no saving to made from buying direct from the factory in Chyna.
      I was considering getting 30 and selling them on Amazon.
      For an order of 30 units.
      30 Units (30 x $69): $2070
      Shipping (to UK): $9887.76 (as quoted by Alibaba)
      Total: $11957.76
      $11957.76 / 30 = $398.59
      So thats $398.59 each with no mark up yet. So think how many must KK be shipping in in order to sell at the price they do.
      All things considered the price at Kettlebell King is fair. You're not going to make a saving unless you are prepared to go wholesale yourself and start a business importing these kettlebells. And to compete with KK and Titan, you are going to need to be shipping in hundreds, maybe thousands (I cant be arsed to do the maths.).
      As a side note, for a custom logo, the minimum order was 5000, same if you wanted custom packaging, etc. Total is over 1/4 mil, not including shipping, which needs to be negotiated at that amount. Might want to think about setting up your own forge at that rate, LOL.

    They can solve the weight distribution problem by including two extra nuts to do a jam nut. They can even be less tall. You just jam the top one into the bottom to reduce the shaft length. Then use the lower shaft to load the plates and then cap it with the end nut. No need for plastic spacers that may crack over time.

    • @wawindwalker
      @wawindwalker 2 года назад +2

      Just got my kb yesterday and played around with the nut on the top, setting the height to hold the rounded weight to the bottom casting and using the bolt to pinch things together. I also added a rubber washer to the top as well to help with vibration loosening. Today I picked up a lock nut, you will need a 24mm/Fine thread nut to use as a jam nut.

That's not chicken feed but compared to a gym membership, or a medical bill resulting from a too-sedentary lifestyle, it's actually a fairly frugal way to go. Especially when you consider how long it will last, the price compared to buying the equivalent number of KB's in the same weight range (12-32 kg), and I could technically get by with no need to ever buy another piece of exercise equipment.

    I wondered about the change in the center of gravity with the plates. Right now, I'm using it as a 12kg weight, so w/o any plates, the CoG should be the same as when filled. I'm guessing the spacer(s) need to be cut to put the weights right along the 'equator' line?

    I'm confused about whether the weight of normal competition bells is at the bottom, middle, top, or sides of the bell. What is the normal, usual, weight distribution pattern of competition kettlebells? Does this differ from that, how so, and how does that affect the workout and use of the product??? I just bought on Ebay another used Wolverson adjustable competition kb,12 to 40 kg. Cost me £139, the other one I had for £ 50, but I had to repaint it due to rust. Their handle has little less space between the bell than the competition bells and the adjustable up to 32. I could feel the difference doing double kb movements.

    If you’re watching this and deciding on this or the titan adjustable 32 kg kettlebells get the kettlebell kings version. The kings version does smart things like actually marks the plate for what it weighs. Yeah who would find that useful? Titan didn’t think so. Titan also applied paint to a surface in such a sloppy light duty way that chips the plates from simply opening it up and taking it apart. Luckily I have access to a sandblaster and a punch set to mark the weights so I’ll do the job Titan didn’t do at the factory.

      No, not if you have them in there correctly and tightened down. However, some of the target weights like 20 call for certain plates that do not fit well at the top of the casing of the KB.

      I have both. The Kb kings has the plates marked by weight. That’s an easy fix for the Titan ones with some tape and a marker. The handle is a matte finish for Kb kings, more glossy foe Titan fitness. You can’t go wrong with either one. If I had to pick one, I’d go with KB kings because of the matte finish on the handle. It grips better for me.

But KBK is not perfect as everyone says. My second bell for 20kg feels different than the 16kg (the metal of the handle looks different too). But the logo was deformed. But that's ok. All I'm saying is, don't expect perfection as per all the slavishly positive comments out there about KBK.
