Sam Poo Kong Temple Semarang Indonesia Historical Tourism of Admiral Cheng Ho in Java

The Sam Poo Kong Temple is a historical tourist spot that was the former stopover and first landing place of a Muslim Chinese Admiral named Cheng Ho in the city of Semarang. Admiral Cheng Ho was also known as Sam Poo, so since its inception in the 15th century this temple was named Sam Poo Kong Temple. Sam Poo Kong is located at Jl. Simongan No. 129, Bongsari, District. West Semarang, Semarang City. The Sam Poo Kong tourist attraction offers the splendor of the temple building and the large statue of Admiral Cheng Ho, as well as the history of the acculturation of Chinese, Javanese and Islamic culture.
The facilities at Sam Poo Kong are very complete, starting from a large parking area, toilets, prayer room, and several temples where Chinese/Buddhists worship. Sam Poo Kong is open from 8.00 - 20.00 WIB. At certain times there are sometimes Lion Dance attractions on major Chinese religious holidays.
