    Tip. Cool it a bit with the editing.
    I like your ideas but the cutting is just too nervous.
    Cheers!

    Raiders of the lost ark.....it was like watching a completely new film......

    • @80sMadeConsumer

      It really did, however they restored it I wish other studios would take the same route. I’m not a big these are the worst discs because there is so much that could effect each experience.
      However I own a few that I was disappointed by mainly the color grade looking off from the previous formats.

    Great list! I’ve got all those film most on 4k…but Goonies is one I haven’t upgraded yet. I own the Blu steelbook edition..hopefully a 4k steel of Goonies will find its way onto the market

      Thanks can’t go wrong with some 80s classics. There have been a few Goonies 4k Steelbooks most are sold out and on Ebay more on the pricey side, but I think The Titans of Cult steelbook has the best artwork. I bet you can find one on Amazon.

    I only recently upgraded to 4K, about a month ago, so I haven't watched a ton of 4Ks but The Shining is without a doubt the best one I've seen. I've seen that movie hundreds of times and I have never seen it look so gorgeous. It was the first 4K where I really saw how great a 4K could be.

    • @80sMadeConsumer
      @80sMadeConsumer  Месяц назад +1

      Nice 4k can be great! You’ll get the best and most noticeable picture out of a good 4k shot on film, not all restorations are the same some are better than others but The Shinning looks amazing. I always choose the 4k if I don’t have it already but newer films shot digitally look great on Blu-ray sometimes the small upscale in picture isn’t noticeable and plenty of times I was happy to keep my Blu-ray.

    Fantastic list! I 100% agree that both back to the future and top gun are a truly wonderful experience on 4K! Do you recommend the second Ghostbusters as well? Should I go ahead and upgrade to that double or just get the first one? I have an upgraded poltergeist yet. It’s on the top of my list one of my favorites as well! I don’t know why people think it’s horror but to me Science Fiction has never been horror, but a lot of people think that Science Fiction horror is a genre and that’s where this one would fall into so that’s probably why people put it there. I think everyone just interprets genres differently.

    • @80sMadeConsumer
      @80sMadeConsumer  Месяц назад +1

      100% Ghostbusters 2 is a must own I was just trying to give newer collectors a good foundation. Many people don’t like the 2nd one, but I watched them back to back as a kid even got to stay up on a school night I love both films. Upgrade what you can where you can always start with your favorites and go from there. I agree it fits better in science fiction. And yes sometimes genres are interpreted differently. When I worked at the video store Godzilla , Jaws, and King Kong Got put in action/adventure. To me adventure is for The Goonies or Swiss Family Robinson, and Terminator is clearly action . So at home I put them and all the monster movies in horror

    • @JoshRazauskas
      @JoshRazauskas Месяц назад

      @@80sMadeConsumer Gotcha sorry for misinterpreting the purpose of the video. I thought it was just showing off the best transfers. Yeah I’ve always liked both of them as well and I don’t understand why people have mixed opinions on the second one, but everyone’s opinions are different. That’s awesome that you got to work in your video store! I always wanted to, but it has always been difficult finding employers that will work with me on my limitations. It’s much easier now that I can work from home and utilize my skills as an editor to make money. I agree with you on the way you would organize things, but yeah, everyone just sees things differently for whatever reason. Also 100% yes you can only upgrade as much as you can whenever you can.

      @@AVAPopCulture Right on I never understood the argument that those movies aren’t Christmas movies, those same people usually say horror is for October too. The focus isn’t Christmas sure but it’s the time when the movie takes place most of them have snow or winter jackets. Hard to watch some of them in the summer with AC blasting

      Try to clean the disc with a soft cloth. If that doesn’t fix it try to wash the disc with dish liquid. That solved my problem with Rope from the Alfred Hitchcock Classic collection.

      @@randallslinker3775 I enjoy 70s cinema but most only refer to the outliers. As a whole there are way more 80s films that are talked about and revisited by more people.
