I have been watching for a long time and really cool to hear your perspectives and experiences living in different cities I've lived in Charlotte for a while and totally understood what you meant about the judgemental culture and everyone being the same I feel like there isn't a ton of popular RUclipsrs or influencers here for that reason
I grew up in Broward, lived in NYC for 16 yrs and just recently moved to Miami last summer. NYC is still my fave city, but starting to love Miami more, especially during "winter"
I can relate to so many of these points. I was born in LA, but have lived in Arizona which I consider a southern ish state and a lot of people are all the same. California and New York are great but it’s so hard to make genuine friendships people always seem like they’re just trying to get something for themselves! But I love the California lifestyle and NYC hustle for your dreams. I feel I made the most genuine connections in Arizona and Paris.
Loved this comparison. Born and grew up in NYC and have lived in both LA and Naples, FL. The wife and I are looking to relocate to Miami from LA next year for the literal same reasons you noted above. The goal is to split time between miami and nyc. Thanks for the vid!
I live in Miramar (right by Cooper City!) and definitely agree with your take on Miami. A lot of things are super expensive, but if you can make it happen it is so worth it. I’m only 20 minutes from a nice beach, and the weather is always enough to stay happy.
You are spot on about the friend making in LA. I’m not a native but I lived in LA for 5 years, and felt the same way about meeting friends. It was super hard, and most people were superficial or only wanted to be your friend if you had something to offer them
Very interesting! I've only been to these places (apart from NC) as a tourist. I really agree on the weather with you. New York gets the extremes which can make it difficult to enjoy. It's so nice to just have nice weather all year around in places like Florida ☀️
So someone born and raised in NYC and still lives here property taxes are not high in NYC. You lived in Manhattan which is the most expensive city in the USA. NYC consists of five boroughs, Manhattan,Bronx, Queens,Brooklyn and Staten Island I live on Staten Island and own a home here and property taxes are not high and you can make an insane profit if you sell a home let’s say in five years in NYC. I purchased my home in 2021 I looked up the value last year after a year and the value went up big. If you move to upstate NY which is New York State that’s where property taxes are high that is where most of your money is going towards, however you can get a home for cheap. Also weather here in NYC is not brutal yea we get our cold temps but it doesn’t last forever once again upstate it’s very very cold and gets snow like there is no tomorrow.
As someone who is from the Caribbean and has lived in Miami their whole life, New York winter is brutal at least for those of us who are not used to the cold. It was unbearable for me, my boyfriend goes to school in Raleigh NC and the winters are cold but nowhere near as brutal as New York. I'd be interested in talking about property taxes/ purchasing properties in Staten Island (even though I could never live there cause of the cold) I would be interested in buying for business purposes.
@@A925er please also be aware which a lot of people don’t know but when you say New York that’s the state, there are three parts of NY as a state, NYC, Long Island and Upstate State NY which is Buffalo, Syracuse, Rockland County to name a few. Temps in all three parts are very different. Last week here in NYC it was 50 degrees that’s not brutal temperatures lol upstate NY yes they get brutal weather because they are close to the Canada border. Yes it’s understandable if your from down south or from the Caribbean and you are use to warm temps all year long it’s a change of weather but go further up north and you’ll see how NYC is a walk in the park with the winter and the winter is only for a certain amount of months. We get some really cold weeks but it doesn’t last all winter long. Fall here is beautiful temps are low 60s. Spring not so bad and summers are summers we get hot summers we get warm summers.
@@michelleklotz2245 yea I’m talking about NYC, the winter there is brutal (in my opinion). It’s great that it works for some but it’s not everyone cup of tea. I also think Natalie was referring to how gloomy and dark it is most days during winter in NYC. She’s living in Miami now, we have constant sunshine all year round so for us yea that weather is brutal.
@@michelleklotz2245 I’ve never lived there as I said I could never, it’s not my cup of tea but I travel there for work now and have visited NYC several times on vacation before I started at my company. I don’t need more than that to know that weather is not for me.
As someone who grew up in Miami and still has roots and family there, it's true. Everyone is the same. Not everyone sucks though but it's a very superficial city for the most part.
I’m loving the video podcast! I’m from NY but like an hour from the city. Completely different vibe and energy from NYC of course but I was looking in doing a temp move to LA (mostly for better weather lol) but how did you find temporary housing for 2 mo I’m looking to stay for about the same time and was trying to find the best cost effective housing option for a temporary move
Great idea to put ur podcast on your channel 💗 ur stories 2 of the biggest cities in America I have only travelled to NYC and La definitely not living there 😂
NYC has many areas. Natalie lived in Manhattan which is the most expensive city in US you have lots of traffic but other parts of NYC is nothing like where she was living. Plus if you are from down south for example NYC totally totally different environment. Very fast pace compared to south. And NYC isn’t what it was once sadly due to crime, inflation
Hi Natalie, I sent you a mail, and I eagerly look forward to your response. Your leadership at Rella and the flexibility you adopt to the team is amazing. Working at Rella must be exciting for team.
Big cities in America are terrible. I grew up in NY and lived on parts of Europe and Australia as well as Canada. Trust and social cohesion are much higher in those areas of the world.
I was raised in Raleigh, NC and I would say your assessment of NC is correct. I'm in my early 30's now and have noticed that the diversity has increased with the growth of Research Triangle Park. I work in biotech in RTP and my company is incredibly diverse. There are so many people from all over the world, including our new CEO. Before my current company I worked in a research lab at Duke, and there was also a lot of diversity there , maybe since it's well known. Maybe it's just working in science, but I have definitely noticed it in the last 6ish years or so.
Your balanced and genuine approach and perspective on everything is really refreshing. I'm so glad that you were able to find like-minded genuine people to befriend like yourself in Miami.
You seem to be an interesting and lovely person, but often I wished you got straight to the point when you talk, and you talk SO much, sharing sooo many details that don't contribute to the understanding of your actual point. You introduce and announce new topics for many, many minutes. It's as if you easily got distracted jumping from one thing to another and easily losing focus on what you wanted to talk about. Sometimes you do that for so long I forget what you actually wanted to talk about to begin. I follow a lot of RUclipsrs and podcasters and I don't feel that with any of them. Maybe it's also an American thing talking so much not getting to the point. This is meant in a constructive way. Anyways, thank you for sharing your story with us. You're lovely. ♥️

First. I've lived in three of these places. LA, NY, & NC. I love your videos
Loved this, Natalie!
Watching this episode makes me wonder what you’d think of Chicago. Fun lake culture in the summer, walkable, feasible to buy property

Raleigh to Charlotte is a long drive. It's like 168 miles.
