Coming from someone who has lived all over this nation, Maryville is quite possibly one of the best places in the US to live…. Unfortunately the secret is out, houses are being bought above asking with CASH, many times from out of state buyers who never even set foot on the property. It’s completely understandable, I live here and feel like I won the lottery. Good Luck!

Let's hope they leave their politics (the reason they left their homes to begin with) in the state they left. We do not want Cali and ny style politics here, we want it to remain a great place that is on the side of God.

While vacationing at Cades Cove, our daughter fell and had a concushion and facial damage. We spent 5 days at Blount Mem. Hos. They treated us like we were their family. We felt loved. Our daughter is now grown up but We still have a very wonderful feeling about your town. The people in Tn are the greatest.

Moving there in 30 days from West Palm Beach. I have visited a few times and growing up in Georgia, I love this little town! I am a pilot as well, so I am at TYS all the time.
You can hear planes in Alcoa, not so much in Maryville. This is a common misconception. Airlines are required to fly a certain distance over populated areas and airlines fly “IFR” which means they have specific flight paths. Also they climb at such a high rate that only the S/D close by will get “a lot” of noise.

If you try to put restrictions on these wonderful "investors" so the poor and middle class can have a shot and own just a single home many Conservatives will screech "CoMMunISM!" So we will just continue seeing the effects of an unrestricted free market and how it benefits the wealthy.

It takes 40 minutes to drive the 5 miles across town in Maryville now because of videos like this and everyone telling everyone else to move here. There’s a house behind Big Lots with a view of their dumpsters. It’s 2br 1 bath. 4 years ago it rented for $450 per month. It just sold for $350,000. That’s not a typo. My sons rent went from 600 per month for his tiny apartment to 1400 per month. There is almost nobody local left because they don’t make the same wages as the rest of the nation yet the housing prices are the same as living in California. You’re going to sit through the same traffic light repeatedly on your way to work, or the store or wherever you go.
This whole video is a lie.
Maryville is like living in a sardine can.
And the 20 minute drive around the 11 mile loop of Cades Cove now takes about 4-5 hours. The park even installed new electronic signs stating to make sure you have enough gas, food, and water because it’s going to take you that long. And you’ll be sitting still in traffic for that 4-5 hours. In summer you’ll be sitting in it in 90 degree heat.
And ps…a 200k house in Maryville is a DUMP

Maryville is not a suburb of Knoxville. We are in no way a part of Knoxville. We are our own city in our own county. Knoxville airport is here and when you are in the airport you are in Knoxville but it is like an embassy. Once you step out of the airport you are in Blount county, not knox county or Knoxville. If you are going to come here get it right. So basically you are saying "where to live in Knoxville", Don't. All of east Tennessee is not knoxville. Seriously we are not even in the same county.

How about 3 reasons not to move to Maryville…
    1. farmland is becoming non existent due to developers piling up cookie cutter builder grade homes that you can stand in between with your arms expanded and be able to touch two houses.
    2. Schools and roads have become severely overcrowded.
    3. The overflow of new construction single family homes and apartments being piled up here has drove the housing market and cost of living through the roof. Utilities have went up per the utility company to compensate for the amount of people that have moved here.
Quit advertising what used to be a peaceful town to live in before it gets any worse.
