In this excerpt from a supplemental feature on our release of THE AGE OF INNOCENCE, Martin Scorsese discusses the making of the film with critic Kent Jones.
Scorsese's Underrateds: Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, New York New York, After Hours, The Last Temptation of Christ, The Age of Innocence, Bringing Out the Dead, Silence.
One of my favorite novels, one of the best screen adaptations of a book, and one of Scorsese's best. Can't wait to pick this up during the B&N 50% off sale!!!
Narration to me is a great nostalgic resource, much more fitted to films than to literature when it comes to emotional impact because in movies it can be paired with music. Narration comes from someone who experienced these events and reminiscences about them so instantly has some feeling. In literature you don't get the same attack on your senses than you get on films, with sight and sounds
The worst thing is we can't have a RESTORATION of Martin Scorsese, what a living legend he is. He has a second career as a cinephile sharing his knowledge in DVDs, BluRays, etc.
How does Criterion pick? Seems they don’t go for the obvious like Raging Bull. I wonder how it works. Is it for films that have yet to have been restored?
@@brendantaylor3570 I believe the idea of Criterion is to have a sort of history of cinema by restoring influential classics from the greatest masters of filmmaking. But you also need to be aware of film's rights and ownerships, if a studio owns a film and doesn't want share the rights for DVD/Blu-ray release, or they asked for to much money to do so, as much as Criterion could want to release a certain movie they won't be able to do it.
One of my favorite things in the world is Martin Scorsese talking about film
The most underrated Scorsese film. The Age of Innocence is brilliant!
i think it's one of his classics. it's so tender and restrained as it is scorsese at his best.
Bringing Out the Dead is his most underrated
I think it’s New York, New York. The famous Sinatra song is from this film yet the film is unknown. De Niro and Minnelli in their prime.
One of my all time favorites

I'm a simple man. I see Marty in a video, I listen to him with full attention.
I love how he made this love story so tense
for me, his greatest film!!
Criterion, please tell me After Hours is the next film on your list.
Love that film
Mean Streets too
The King of Comedy.
Bringing Out The Dead or Casino
I love listening to this man speak
The use of words was also a plus for me! I enjoyed how the novel was turned into a film!!
The age of innocence is one of the best movies of all time. Of all time.
Just watched it. It was beautiful. I immediately ordered the book.
@@trawlins396 amazing! Enjoy. I read the novel many years ago but am really enjoying rereading the audio book atm. It's on RUclips!
The Age of Innocence is a luxurious masterwork of world cinema and probably my favorite period piece after Barry Lyndon.
What a wonderful film.
i'm reading this book currently and i’m loving it so far.

I would love an UHD 4K release of Age Of innocence I'll pay good money for that shit
@@jiga6832 yeah if Criterion does it it would be great. Since we have the 4K scan from the original negative, there’s already a good resource to use.
Such a beautiful interview. Didn’t know there was such a thing lol
Very inspiring.
I'd love to see Wolf Of Wall Street get a Criterion release, even though it's unlikely.
Why doesn't he ever talk about his Marrano ancestry?
is there any scorcese films on criterion?
ASI FROM AGE OF INNOCENCE
The Last Temptation Of Christ is also on Criterion
Age Of Innocence, The Last Temptation Of Christ, Taxi Driver (LaserDisc).

He's aged a lot over these last few years. And please tell me we're gonna see a closet pick from him.
He MUST be the closet pick

Omg he looks so old!
Zach Antle he is old
Because he's old. Wtf?
