okey dokey....I AM 65....I saw the Cavaliers starting when I was 6 YEARS OLD...in competition back in Woodstock, Illinois.....THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SPOT ON....they are AWESOME! Some of them have gone on to be part of the BLUE MAN TROUPE you see in shows in Vegas and other places.....for me...THE GREEN MACHINE IS THE BEST....and, yes, these past years they haven't been so spectacular and inovative...but I think if they get some new people to rev em up....they will get back on top again....I will always love this DCI group....they knocked my little bobby socks off back in 1959...and every year after til we moved away in 1968...but I have always tried to see their shows (thanks to cable and now the internet) since. GO GO GREEN MACHINE!!!
anyone else think about the movie Stripes at the 2:06 mark? I feel like they should have yelled " And that's the fact JACK" Great show, saw it live in Quincy, Ma. Always one of my favs for that year.
I know there is always going to be negative comments about everything people on RUclips are doing but, before you lift a single finger to type some sort of bullshit..... CAN YOU DO ANY OF THE SHIT THESE KIDS ARE DOING YOURSELF? Take a seat.
Look carefully at the criticism here. Most of the critique is not about the young performers, but the capricious designers who often go off the deep end with no one to rein them in-- case in point, the Madison Scouts who appeared to be shit-in-your-pants crazy this year. Embarrassing and damaging to their own brand and to DCI.
I'll take any show that is thematically cohesive with cultural substance, but here are the best: 1) Cadets Angels and Demons 2) Carolina Crown's Relentless 3) Felliniesque . 4) 1992 Velvet Knights. And honorable mention goes to SCV's Scheherezade the year Malala won the Nobel Peace Prize. These are the shows with depth of concept.
What no marching member in DCI is capable of doing right now is selecting music for a show, or designing a show around a theme, or designing elements that belong in a show. That's where DCI is failing. We're teaching kids to be robots, and that's not the way it is in the real world of music and entertainment. They must learn to create, but that's not what drum corps teaches them now. In the future, marchers will learn to design shows, design uniforms, and select music, and build a throughline to a twelve minute production. Gradually. But they'll do it.
The problem with drum corp these days is that there is to much free for all. This is 5 years ago and it's getting worse. Now more and more in place playing and spinning especially on platforms or props
It makes it more unique and the show to stand out from other ones, you need something to stand out in competitions. Especially marching, so it is a good thing with “free for all” as you say because of judging. If you do it the correct way, single marcher judges will praise and if someone messes up even so in these higher drum corps there will be recovery points. I will say it is not a Problem
I love how Mike blends so many rhythms and samples and get a whole new sound that'll normally sound like pure chaos

OH MY GOD I JUST SAW MY PERCUSSION FIRECTOR SHIRTLESS
This is video taped at the place my band camp is held!
Best show since 2011. Best drill since 2012 (even though the show lacked that special feel).
That kick halt is savage for the corps 70 miles west

They’ve done a few Stripes references. During Mad World they did the Queen Anne Salute and Boom Shakalaka from the graduation scene
1:15 HOLY CRAP A FEMALE

Jesu Spectre what are some of your favorite modern shows? For me, I think blue devils 2010 is my all time.
