- Was lovely autumn sunny afternoon and I wanted to check the radio propagations on the band. I didn't had much time for it (about 20min.) but I was succesfull and did 3 QSO's on 40M band with my small UltraLight Magnetic Loop Antenna v.4 and small nifty QRP transceiver Xiegu X5105. I enjoyed the countryside and chickens everywhere around :-D I love it! Thanks for watching this video! 73, Paul OM0ET.

That sure is a beautiful landscape there! Awesome set up Paul and great clean contacts on QRP! Gave the loop website a look and may have to start saving! Thank you, 73
Hello Brian! Thank you for the nice comment! 😊 I use this loop also from an indoor of my house 😉👍 The website link is in the video description 🙋♂️ 73, Paul.
So easy, neat and effective Paul!
Nice location and weather too!
Hey Adam! Thank you! Was a short window when was sunny for a while between many rainy days and I am glad that I could did this outdoors. The winter is comming here ;-) Have a nice day and 73! Paul.
An other good video, great setup and great settings!
Results were encouraging .
Thank you. 73
Thank you very much! ;-) 73, Paul
Great video! Slovakia reminds me of the rolling hills of upstate New York; north of New York City.
Happy Holidays!
Hi Paul ,nice video as usual ,loop and Xiegu working great ,can’t wait to get back out with mine ,73de mm0aup
Hello Peter! Yes, thanks! I didn't had much time to do more QSO's but still I am very satisfied with the results of 3 QSO's in 20minutes and on 40M band :-) Have fun with your own loop too ;-) 73
Pretty cool, Paul...from zero to up and on the air in minutes! Love the chickens, too. Enjoyed the video, Paul...keep up the great work. 73! de WX0V
Thanks Scott! Therefore I like this concept when I can set an antenna in a few minutes and go :-) even from the indoor of the house! Have a nice weekend! 73, Paul
Nice video Pavol !
Your magnetic loop doing an ufb job.

Thank you very much! 😉👍
Bravo Paul, nice job.
Thank you Roby! Have a nice weekend! 73, Paul
Very Good! Thanks for the demonstration.
Thank you John for watching 😉👍
Great Paul!!!! My compliments for your small rig and antenna. I do hope to meet you on the air soon... using QRP of course ;) 73s de Ik0vwh, Rino
Hello Rino! I do hope too! QRP to QRP is the real radio contact when you can communicate with 5W freely across the Europe ;-) Hope to hear you on the bands! 73 ciao
Beautiful countryside there!
I listen to Radio Slovakia via WRMI here in the US.
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the Radio Slovakia ;-) I listen the slovakian version channel daily at my work :-) 73, Paul.
Beautiful countryside, nice antenna!
Thank you Pietro! ;-)
I was wondering why your call sign seems familiar... but then I looked back on my RX logs as that's all I can do for now... and realized I got to listen to you a few times on the 40m band... 73. Nice videos.
I am impressed with the Xiegu and may buy one soon. I already have a commercial HF magnetic loop. Nice location too. 73 de Bob, M0BOB.
Nice & neat, congratulations.
Thank you very much Jal! 73, Paul
I can share some good advice I wants got about what to do when someone is missing one part of your call sign. Only repeat, “Oscar, Oscar, Oscar, Oscar.” (if they are missing the first letter, for example) Then follow by giving your entire call sign. Do not just simply keep repeating your entire callsign over and over. Give them the part that they are missing repeated first several times. Thank you for a beautiful video and a great demonstration of the equipment. I love it!
Thanks Paul for the video and the nice look from the countyside :-)
Your little magnetic loop works realy well with only 5 watts.
Too bad that I was not qrv, would also like to have had a contact with you. I have to watch the band more often ;-)
73 Bernd
That would be great Bernd because not all of HAM's want to waste of time with weak QRP stations on the bands so everyone more is very welcome ;-) 73, Paul
Paul thanks for the version information.
I may up grade to the 2 version.
There is a very helpful FaceBook channel for all of the Xiegu radios.
You might want to check it out
Cheers
Thanks for sharing this QRP contacts.
Your Magloop very easy to setup is doing a fine job.

Thank you! Yes I designed it specially for this portable usage for easy to carry and to set 😉👍73 and greetings from Slovakia!
Nice QRP station. I'm thinking of making a small portable mag loop antenna for backpack QRP with JS8 digital mode which operates on a single frequency per band so I wouldn't need to tune the antenna after the initial tuning.
Thanks! Yes the Magloop is a great solution for the digital modes. 😉👍
Very impressive 👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much! ;-) 73 from Slovakia
Thank you for your video. I am currently saving money for Xiegu X5105 and seems your antenna might be my choice also. Next year, spring time i will place an order :)

Hello Marko 👋😊
The Xiegu X5105 is an excellent portable transceiver or I call it as a "hamshack to the pocket" because it has internal SWR analyzer, Autotuner, powerful LiPo battery, Noise reduction, internal microphone, PTT button or buil-in digi decoder atc. 😃 And yes I like use my Magloop with this radio. No problem, just write me then an email. 👍 73. Paul
Nice. I like the antenna and the radio. (I've got a X5105 myself; nice radio.) Wish I could say there was as much activity here as you obviously have around you there. Guess I'll build a mag loop this winter ;-)
What is your country Nils? I live in the center part of Europe, so activity on 40 and 80M is really big, but sometimes is quiet when is geomagnetic storm. 73
@@OM0ET I'm a gringo. Live in Ohio. 40m is pretty quiet most of the day. 80/75m is not at all as crowded as it was in the 70s. Hardly anyone is on the air any more. We're all watching RUclips ;-)
@@haramanggapuja Hmm tht's strange! Here in Europe is 40M one of the most active band 24/7. 80M is during the day mostly empty instead of a few powerfull local stations, but at the evening begins a big mess there. Worst crowded time is around 17 - 18:00 UTC. I feel like whole Euro-Asia is there in the same time :-D is hardly to find some clear frequency without splatters or other QRM...
Very nice Paul. Thank you for the video. 73.
Chuck - WB9ZDS
Thank you very much Chuck! ;-) 73
Good
- Nice! Keep in mind you may have a slight null off of some mag loops so try rotating it next time and see if it’s directional. I know for a fact there are nulls in mag loops so it’s worth the experiment. Keep in mind also that’s very good considering that size of a mag loop so efficiency is not good at all, but you made out well. I’m sure it would have great results on 20m, but nice example of how well it still can perform on 40m. Thanks for the vid. 73
73 kolego 🇵🇱
Good job ! I living in village too !
I would like to live in the little house in the countryside, somewhere close to the forest, close to the open nature, clean air, low noise and lovely animals :-) instead of this I live in the block building, in the center of my city :-D hihi, 73
Awesome video! I want to make something like your version 4 antenna. I have just started with amateur radio and have a Tecsun PL-310ET which can receive 2300-21950 kHz. Will this 1 meter diameter loop be ok to cover all of these frequencies? What range of pF do I need? I may be able to get a few trim caps (not air dielectric type, but cheap trimmers) in parallel and get from about 13pF up to about 524pF when all are maxed out. Is that ok? Any help appreciated. Keep up the awesome videos!
TECSUN PL-310ET does not have CW and SSB modes, therefore it is not suitable. You need a TECSUN PL-330 receiver, it has the necessary modulation modes.
Very good, thanks. Interested in your mag loop ant. Where can I find construction info, please? Thanks
Hello! Down in the video description is the link of my website ;-) there are the dimensions. Have fun and 73! Paul
In the 11m lane, someone managed to open the station. and how did you do it. Thanks 73!
Really neat job on the magnetic loop. I recently built one also out of my junk box. I think I will build another more like your loop. I didn't notice how you tuned your loop; could you comment on this or maybe I should check for a building video. I have had similar success with my prototype. Thanks, Greg.
Hello Greg! Thank you for the nice comment! And thank you for watching. Yes somwhere I have video how to tune this antenna 😉👍 You can visit my website also (see the video description). I wish you good luck with your new magloop! 73, Paul
Nice one :-) congrats - Pavol de HB9GNK and KB9GNK
Thank you Erwin! How is working your loop? ;-) Did you made contacts already? 73 and have a nice day my friend!
@@OM0ET I'm happy with it - Spain special event Station :-) - but propagation was not this good - but your anntenna is great. I'm using it with alex tune indicator
Chicken family.... :) I like it.
Yeah, thats antenna will be amazing for NVIS on regional bands like 80 and 60. But of course full sized antennas work much better.
Is the Xiegu X5105 the same size as the X6100?
Very nice video Paul. Really like your loop antenna, easy setup too.
What firmware version are you using now?I haven’t tried any of the version 3 beta firmware there seem to be some problems with CW working correctly.
Always good to see your field and build videos.
Cheers & 73

Hello Preston! In this video I used the ver.2 but yesterday upgraded to ver.3. I still have problem with "permanent transmit" when is radio cold. I am still not sure if this issue causes some FW bug or problematic HW . Thank you for watching! 😉👍
Thans's Paul for QSO today - SO90PZK - Martin priv SQ3M
:)
Hello Martin! It was my pleasure to have a nice QRP contact with you today with 5W and my UltraLight Magloop Antenna v.4 ;-) I was testing this antenna in the garden. Thank you that you gave me the chance to have a QSO in your pileup ;-) 73, Paul
@@OM0ETWe are waiting for the much better conditions on the ham radio bands. 73's
@@marcingoluch7465 Yes Martin, but 25th Solar cycle is just beginning, so we hope for better days soon ;-)
@@OM0ET We will see. I think so that spring and summer will be much better time for us like January and February 2020

very nice - Paul :-) 73 de HB9GNK and KB9GNK
Thank you my friend! 😁👍
How to build an ultralight magnetic loop antenna?
I'd recommend the G90 now over the 5105, 20watts and a lifepo4 battery like tracer 7ah. Superb
Yes that could be good too ;-) but I prefer to have minimal amount of wires and other equipments. In this case is my walkie talkie style X5105 the best solution ;-)
@@OM0ET only additional wire is the battery lead and battery. Pretty minimal and the extra power makes up for it. It's a really cool bit of kit the g90. My 5105 is gathering dust. G90 has ATU and Antenna Analyser also.
A day with chickens and HAM Radio in the countryside is a good day!
Yeah 😄 exactly! And especially when the propagations rocks! 😜 73, Paul
