  • In this video, we are loading June Bug a full grown purebred Mulefoot Sow for transport to her new home. Like everything on the farm, we want this to be as easy and stress-free as possible for our pigs. We took the time to build out a lane that hopefully will simplify this process! Let’s see if it works! Thanks for coming along!

It is sad to see the piggies go. But it is a farm after all. But great job on the alley way. It looked like a sold built.

Thanks. That alley way worked better than I expected. On the days any animal leave our farm is a sad day for us. When you focus so much in providing happy healthy stress-free lives to your animals it’s impossible to not become attached to them. But like you said, it is a farm after all. We remind ourselves of that numerous times on days like this.

good job, as a rule, pigs tend to not like ramps, she can easily step into the trailer, try it that way next time.

I will try this, thanks for sharing. My cattle step up into the trailer with no problem. I have never considered trying that way. I guess maybe because I load the feeder pigs with a big ramp, but on them, I start feeding them a week in advance in the trailer, so they always load easy. Thanks again!

I have Red Wattle hogs. Mine were rooting at 2 days old, and were eating dirt, feed, and grass, roots, and stuff within about 5 to 7 days. At a month old they will go out on the pasture even when the sow is in the barn eating. I think if you tried the Red Wattle meat you would find it to be a lot more flavorful than the Berkshire.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your comments. It means more than you know. I have spent a little while researching the Red Wattle, can't seem to find a downside to them! I may have to look at adding a red Wattle Sow in the very near future. Thanks again!
