Crazy to think Demifiend achieved everything he needed to do and, if SMT5 is to be believed, Lucifer just wound up winning only for the world to still be locked in the perpetual cycle without the influence of a Nahobino..
SMT V world is another universe. Even if the Demi-Fiend personally jumped universes to kick the YHWH's ass for the lolz, we know that the Lucifer of V's world became enlightened so they probably realized the world just needs to be reborn one last time, this time for good with the nahobino having all the cheat tricks necesssary to handle the Axiom's shenanigans.
Yeah but honestly i feel like smt 5 lucifer is a completely different being I feel like most of the smt 3 demon cast are the "true" demons of the franchise That is the original belzebub, metatron and lucifer I do feel like they are refearing to the great will because yhvh was killed in 2 though
Well turns out i was wrong as lucifer in smt 5 have some conversations in the demon haunt that make direct reference of him and demi fiend working together in the past... Aparently anyway i havent got lucifer yet This just make the "is smt 5 a sequel to smt 3" debate even more confusing but with the new information from vengece i am confident to say that it indeed is but they still dont take place in the same world as the smt 5 conception is so much weirder as da at looks nothing like the vortex world
I think I will go a bit further and say that what Demi-fiend wanted was True Freedom. He didn't accept the others' ideals yet pursue the True Demon path tells us that he values connections, individuality and rights of the weak. In one hand, he could seems cruel killing the world and yet on the other hand he could be a really nice person but just twisted by the Vortex World and Amala.
i think your onto something. especially when how climbing the tower of kagutsuchi, you'll have manikins acting very supportive of you. (which does add to that part of "rights of the weak")
I always saw the true demon ending as a reason from a certain point of view. His reason was, having no more reasons, his demon's sponsor was Lucifer and his sacrifice was everything. And I always saw his foretold encounter with the great will as a losing battle, which always makes it a tragic ending for me. A legacy of truly nothing, not even a happy human life. After all, if the great will is truly the end all, be all of existence in the Amala multiverse, what hope do he and lucifers demons really have to defeat it? I would say none. But at least He got a Pixie.
Well, demi fiend might not have won against the great will, but probably didnt lost to it either since he's still out there fighting in all those other games
@@jellyface401 I kinda figure that the Demi Fiend in V is a True Demon Ending Demi Fiend. My proof? The fiends you face in V all allude to having been defeated by him. And once you reach him, one of his companions is his Super Pixie. The OP demon you only get if you reach the Final Kalpa of the Labyrinth of Amala, and the fiends being the optional bosses you have to defeat to progress in said dungeon. Not to mention other characters in V reference the Conception as having happened in the past. And finally, Lucifer himself. He plays a prominent role in both 3 and V, but V begins with him killing the God of Law, which is in keeping with how True Demon Ending ends with Demi Fiend leading the demons into the final battle with the Great Will. So yeah. It’s kind of implied that ending is ultimately canon.
...The Great Will is incredibly powerful within its 'box' and makes the rules but the Demi-Fiend has been deliberately created as a 'rule breaker'. The demi-fiend can destroy the concept of time itself and is not beholden to the Great Will because of its extremely unique creation.. Its odds arent great but saying it has NO chance at all is ridiculous.
I like that its alluded that when Lucifer was created, he would overtake his creator, now the events repeat themselves with Demi-Fiend overtaking Lucifer. Its my headcannon that Lucifer didn't intend to fight Demi-Fiend at the ending, Demi-Fiend took the fight to him and Lucifer couldn't control or influence The Demi-Fiend either. He truly took fate by the throat himself. I love Nocterne so much, the progression doesn't feel like a number increase, it really feels like You are getting more powerful, You are growing as The Demi-Fiend. You took fate into your own hands and used everything as your stepping stones, even that Loathsome Snake, now you're a certified, and the only badass now.
I think what Hikawa is trying to say is; when enough magatsuhi is gathered, in other words, followers, an ideal or belief structure will come into affect and thus change the world. Control over the world. People need this. They need the structure of being told what to believe. Each of us come into this world as a blank canvas, until we are conceived and then all sorts of memes, ideals and experiences are projected onto us. Many of us are oblivious to this for most or all of our lives, however if we are aware; do we choose to allow ourselves to be controlled, or do we think for ourselves and live within our own genuine beliefs. Or, alternatively, do we want to be someone like Hikawa and be the controller of many and influence the world for better or for worse.
I'd say a good bit of people. I see a lot of people in comment section say stuff like "SMTV was great, I haven't played any of the other games in the series but I just might after that." Which is pretty telling. I loved SMTV though but it had it's major writing flaws.
0:48 is it wrong that the first thing that comes to my mind after hearing that song is DANTE FROM THE DMC SERIES stalking me in the third kalpa and a huge impulse to uninstall the game?
I love how they made an anti-messiah in a series where the protagonist is the messiah. I wonder if the absence of Stephen in Nocturne's world played a roll.
Demi fiend is definitely my favorite out of the protagonist bunch, even though they're all sick in their own way. Watching his entire build up through the story towards the true demon ending was amazing, his power coming together, the struggles he went through, and what he experienced helped mold him into that one shotting superboss we know and love. Nocturne in general has such an iconic status that conveys that classic nostalgia, from the art direction, style, apocalyptic setting, dialogue etc. In general, I absolutely love the SMT franchise, I never get tired of seeing Demi fiend appear as the superboss in games, but I do always get scared when he's there lmao. Amazing video, always a delight to see discussions about Demi fiend & Nocturne as a whole.
TTD ending is canon but it is an RPG with multiple endings at the end of the day. I chose the freedom ending where you just reset everything back to the way it was. I feel it’s a good ending too because Demi-Fiend basically saves the teacher and his friends from themselves. Everyone thinks they can create a better world and end up being over-ambitious. Sometimes it’s for the best to just enjoy life for what it is. Everyone loses themselves trying to change things only to find out the grass isn’t any greener on the other side. In my ending, Demi-Fiend is the only one that maintains his sanity and doesn’t let his own power get to his head, ends up saving his teacher and his friends.
IF YOU actually live through thr EXFREMELY difficult bossed in SMT3 NOCTURNE. This guy is a true God Trainer. Hes like the Dragon ball super Beerus equivalent.
Not gonna lie, had a bit of a chuckle when I kept hearing the Discord ping during Hikawa's monologue.
I kept checking my dms :(
Are y'all hearing something I'm not? Cuz it sounds normal to me
He does sound like he uses Discord...

Actually, he succeeded in breaking out. Remember, Demi Fiends presence in SMT V shows that by breaking their world, they can travel to others.

Uh, except Lucifer literally says that he is going to test you to see if you are worthy. Demi-Fiend doesn't really have say in the matter.
Demi-fiend, you've done it. You have become Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne!
You should do a video for each smt protagonist. You might be on to something here ....
i'm definitely considering, it will def take a massive amount of time though since i'll need to slowly replay all of them again
MAN, i can't believe your this underrated it hurts my soul
Thank you
i dont think anyone has ever said "you mean that guy from DDS?" in response to demifiend
Seeing how well smt 5 has sold i wouldnt blame anyone for saying "you mean that guy from the dlc?"
Or worse "you mean the persona costume?"

All endings are cannon, some are just tied to other SMT's. Nocturn True Demon Ending and Messiahs in the Diamond Realm pretty much confirmed this
