This segment was taken from Episode 606 which aired on October 25, 1994 on CBS.
Hey guys, I'm not spontaneously coming out of "retirement", but I decided to upload a few "new" segments since today is the 30th anniversary of Rescue 911's premiere. This was actually posted before, but that version had the ending cut off, so I decided post the complete version.

The season 1 premiere was in September, but two specials had aired before that in April and May of 1989. Episode 101 from September 5, 1989 was technically the third episode to air. The first pilot/special aired on April 18, and the second special aired May 9.

It is. CBS is working on in since last year and not only that but Shatner himself is to host the new series. They want to produce it like Live PD instead of cops follow EMTs and firefighters

Until I started watching this in 1990 I had no clue how deadly of a killer that asthma is.
This year (2022) summer has been unusually hot in many areas and heat exhaustion or stroke has been happening a lot.

I'd buy the entire series. I'd rather watch on my 32" TV than on this computer which is 16 inches wide.
Some collectors taped the show off the air and likely accumulated a large number of episodes. The originals are complete and unedited.
It's so nice to look back in those years the 90s where kids were kids no makeup no pretending to be older I'm glad she made it through!!

Me too, I nearly went into arrest once because of too fast heart rate.
She had 19 arrests and was kept in the hospital for a long time, 31 years ago
I can relate to this young lady named Nikki and am glad she was able to find the help she needed and realized her mistakes and that when something becomes to be too much the thing to do is ask for help.

Thank goodness Nicki is doing fine. She shouldn’t have overdosed on her asthma medicine. I take my asthma medicine using the right dose.
agreed, but its hard not to want to when your having an attack or when you don't want one to happen. I remember thinking that as a kid when a field trip would come up or some event. I know that's not the situation this girl was in, but it is a good reminder of why we should keep our Dr. updated on our condition. I know a lot of people think Asthma is over diagnosed and so its not a big deal, but for those of us that do have it, its a serious thing that we have to monitor in our daily lives.
Elaina Liotta Are you a child, a moron, or both? It wasn’t her asthma medication. People OD for various, painful reasons, it’s insanely patronizing to tell someone they shouldn’t have done so- and you’re not getting a cookie for taking your meds.

Her mother was going through a rough divorce, she was stressed feeling like she had to be 'the mom' to her siblings, they mentioned "life is worth living," and reaching out when something is 'too tough' and you cant 'handle it.' Did you not watch the entire video?

Not all asthma attacks cause wheezing. I have asthma and I don't always wheeze. When I was at school my PE teacher wouldn't let me go and get my inhaler as I wasn't wheezing so she didn't believe that I was having an attack, but I could hardly speak. Then I collapsed with from a lack of oxygen and was rushed by ambulance to the hospital. The teacher got suspended.

Wow, I wasn't ready for attempted suicide as the reason. I watched this show a lot growing up, but I never saw this segment.
I am in my high school marching band so when I watch this episode it scares me to death sometimes even though I love this show

Jennifer Barnwell do the math. This happened in 1992. 27 years ago. So she’s early 40s now. 40-41

Folks with asthma should always keep a inhaler with them. I see now she overdosed.
I had asthma when I was 12 but Thankfully 😅 I survived the next year ‼️💯

That's why we use inhalers to pervent ashtma attacks.
True, except this was an overdose of prescribed meds.
Back then, we didn't have the inhaled corticosteroids to limit airway inflammation and prevent attacks. We also did not have long acting brochodilator inhalers like salmeterol that we have today. The only long acting asthma medication we had back then was theophylline (oral). I am guessing that it was the theophylline that she overdosed on. That would have made her heart very unstable for several hours until it worked its way out of her system and would explain the multiple episodes of ventricular fibrillation that she experienced. She is quite fortunate to be alive.
Jennifer Barnwell No shit. Even with inhalers and meds, asthma can still kill you, not to mention this whole issue wasn’t even the asthma.

They thought it was asthma at first because the symptoms presented early on looked like an attack but they later told us why it ended differently with seizures and unstable heart rythem. It wasnt an accident or her not reading the dosage on her medication properly. Her mother was going through a rough divorce, she was stressed feeling like she had to be 'the mom' to her siblings, they mentioned "life is worth living," and reaching out when something is 'too tough' and you cant 'handle it.' @@gamzeemakara9238 I did and it was a stunner. There are times that I myself went through a struggle and had a complete meltdown. I was considering attempting suicide but I backed away from it cause my special needs sister needs me to care for her in the next few years. Life is definitely worth living

I am guessing that she overdosed on Theophylline. It's got an incredibly long halflife. That's probably why she kept going into Vefib. They didn't have Advair back then- which would likely have controlled her Asthma much better minus the potential for overdose and Vefib.

This one was so scary omg. She is the age of my older sister and we would watch this as kids. Now we all have our own kids and God I couldn't imagine.
