I've met Jimmy when he was with the Yellowjackets. A cool, humble guy who also happens to be a fantastic musician.

Very down-to-earth guy who loves to talk music … a great man and even better musician. 👍🏼

Just a regular Joe...
What a story.
Yes, I agree David Busby... Jimmy is first class, super cool - thanks for listening as always!
What a great interview. When I started the video and realized it was 3 hours, I thought that might be too much. But every minute was riveting. One of my favorite musicians of all time.
Thanks for your kind words bikergeekgd and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫ Jimmy's the best!
What a great story teller. I could listen to him for hours ( I just did actually) LOL I can't even remember what I did last week. How does he remember all that?

Another great interview Craig. I got to see Jimmy perform with Jeff Lorber and Garry Novak in Melbourne. Great Show. The Allan Holdsworth & Alan Pasqua Live At Yoshi's Jazz Club, with Jimmy and Chad Wackerman on drums, is my favorite Allan Holdsworth lineup and performance that I have seen. These interviews bring such a personal insight into these truly great artists. Keep up the great work. Thanks Craig.
Thanks for your kind words bumzigan and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫

Thank you for listening San Diego Varsity Sports! 🎉🔥😇
Jimmy is so admirable as a musician and human being. I just got to see him at the Baked Potato a week ago with Jeff Lorber and JR Robinson. I got to exchange a few words with him after the show and he was a gentleman as expected. I love his unique style as a bass player. He is one of my top 5 bass players as a fan of music.
Anthony, I agree, he's a first class guy... all the way !
OMG! JING CHI, Live at Yoshi's!
Thank you for suggesting the listen to this. Goosebumps! This album is unbelievable! I can't stop listening.😀

Jimmy Haslip from the Tommy Bolin Band.. BAM
What an awesome name, Pookie! yes :-)
I recently got to meet and have a photo with Jimmy Haslip after a Jeff Lorber Fusion gig back in October 2023, one of the nicest human beings i have ever met, a true first class act. Amazing bassist and great composer, he is the whole package. I've been a big fan of Haslip since his Yellowjackets days, nothing but true love and respect for one of the true legends of bass playing
Yes, I agree @WarhawkBeyond2040 - thanks for listening 💥 🎶 🎸 ! He's truly one of the kindest and classiest people I've met...

Yes, I agree Arthur Sadowsky - thanks for listening 💥 🎶 🎸 !
I first heard of Jimmy when I was in High School and a major Rock fan when he was playing in Tommy Bolin's band (my favorite musiain at the time before I got into Jazz, Classical, etc). Years later i'm into Jazz and all kinds of instrumental music and i'm backtracking on the Yellowjackets early albums when a familiar mustached face pops up, 'Where do I know this guy from?' when I realize he was the bassist with Bolin shortly before Tommy passed away. I seem to even recall a picture of Jimmy at Tommy's funeral. By the 1980's i'm no longer listening to Rock at all anymore but the Yellowjackets are in the mix of those 'modern' instrumental bands that are a part of my diet. Jimmy was also kind enough to monitor and often interact with 'fans' on the Yellowjackets online forum on their website and he composed a few of my favorite 'Jackets tracks as well. It was a sad day when he left the band, being one of only two founding members to have stayed with the band since it's beginnings.. He's the real deal as a talent and so down to earth (and together) as a person, just a great guy.
So great to see Craig interview him. Craig's personality, friendliness and approach to those he interviews turns these sessions more into 'chats' between friends, full of cool stories and personal history than the standard stiff interviews one sees elsewhere...

Wow Jimmy Haslip is Awesome! I have musician friends that I play with but to know someone like him would change my life/perspective about it all ! I’m a Yellow Jackets junkie ... Great interview by the way & thank you ! I subd to your channel
Glad you enjoyed the interview dad woo, and thanks for listening & subscribing dad woo! 👍🏻🎶🎉
Jimmy is on virtually everything I'm
listening to these days.
I've delved into Lyle Workman over the last
2 months, his new album "Uncommon Measures"
must have been a huge project to undertake.
Brilliant Album.
Great Interview.
It’s fascinating when someone who is self effacing when asked what they value about themselves suddenly shows a peaceful, selfless confidence about something; where there is no doubt. Jimmy talks about how generosity and kindness are in his dna with that confidence and I sure believe him. As much as I appreciate him as a musician the humanity that drives it all is gold. Cool guy.
Truly, he is one of the kindest and purest people I've had the pleasure of meeting :-)
This is so freaking good! Everyone starts somewhere and regardless of where that is you can go on to make a way for yourself in the same way Jimmy has.
Thanks cory ponder, Rock on! 🎸🙌🏻🔥🎶
Really enjoyed the interview. Jimmy Haslip is one of my favorite bass players. I would have loved to hear about his collaboration with Allan Holdsworth, but great conversation nonetheless.
Thanks Ariel Sotelo, Rock on! 🎸🙌🏻🔥🎶 subscribe: elg.fun/subscribe

Glad you enjoyed the interview Joseph Patrick Moore, and thanks for listening 💥 🎶 🎸 !
You do such great interviews. And this one really is great!
Thanks Johan, it's actually one of my own favorites! Appreciate your kind words as well...
I'm curious why there was so little mention of Jimmy's three decades with the Yellowjackets.
I have "The Inside Story" album Jimmy is talking about!
Haslap? Awesome - can't wait to listen on my way commute home today - Thanks! Hey Craig,
I'm the guy who joked about the desert island disc question torment factor a while back - (I still love the squirming when you ask). maybe if you went up to Five discs it would be easier. But like I said, the squirm factor is fun!
Rock on Bob!
First time I’ve heard Gino Vannelli described as a “Pop” artist … don’t let HIM hear you say that, lol! He was NEVER mainstream, despite a couple of Top 40 hits - I know him and he’d take exception. 😉🙄 I met Jimmy H in Cambridge at Regattabar many years ago - such a nice guy and very down-to-earth - we talked about Hendrix mainly, lol.
Thanks for listening Greg!
Great stuff - the pleasure was mine! Keep up the great work! 😃👍🏼🎼🎸
An awesome interview!!! 👌
Thanks Jerry Ramos, Rock on! 🎸🙌🏻🔥🎶 Jimmy is one of my favorite show guests!
@@EveryoneLovesGuitar Thanks man, Keep up the great work! ✌🤟💯

I’d love to here the story how Gino vanelli found him best solo on brother to brother and feel like flying I practice to that for 20 plus years now
You know how there's a saying, "Never meet your heroes." Jimmy Haslip is one case where I think I'd come away after meeting with an even more fond opinion of him. He seems like a great human being first, and a remarkable musician second. Considering what a great musician he is, that's saying an awful lot about his character.
Yes, I agree Wrinkled Solesniff - thanks for listening, we had a blast doing this 💥 🎶 🎸 !
@@EveryoneLovesGuitar It was a great interview and conversation. Thanks for sharing it.
Roy Ayers with yellow shirt is 1976 Everybody Loves The Sunshine, his best album imo
Yessssssss 👍
Now that's an interview.....
Thanks for your kind words @bassmonk2920 and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫
Haslip is also in the megasuper "must have" album CS&N 1977 he mentioned as the Still's boat on the cover..lol... Haslip is a Legend musician!.. in this interview he looks not aware of how big are the albums he worked for

@@EveryoneLovesGuitar i suscribed already..thanks
@@kostaaaa41 Thank you!
The actual celebrity in the Rosie Vela album is Gary Katz!.. Steely Dan producer
Great interview! Too bad though you did not got into his time with one of the greatest innovators off all time: the late great Allan Holdsworth….. :-(
Thank god for flat feet!
The Inside Story is not obscure...is a masterpiece as good as the Yellowjackets first album, Robben Ford at his best... got it cd japan and lp
.I agree! I've had two vinyl copies of it since it's release.....and i live in the UK!!
yeah, easier to find a CD copy these days. don't remember where I got mine, might have been off eBay. first heard the album in the mid 1980's I think on KBEM radio in Minneapolis.
What time did he reference working with Rick Derringer?
You dont know Michael Franks!!??... i'm shocked
