Good question... I looked them up as well. It's about when he was a kid he saw a beer in the fridge that his step-Dad had put there. It freaked him out because his Dad had been a real drinker before he left them (and later found religion, cleaned himself up etc) and he was worried it was all going to happen again. Cool song...
