I think he was very happy during the time he was On The Buses and when it ended he found the long days without work hard to cope with.
He needed to perform and the longer the days the more the depression set in.
We never know what is round the corner. R.I.P. Bob

Grant, Reg, the actress who played Olive and the others were just perfect casting in a knockabout comedy classic that didnt pretend to be anything else but...knockabout.
Grant & Varney had chemistry, convinced that they were real buddies, and both played up to the stereotype with real affection.

As a lifelong depressive, I know how suicide draws you, tries to suck you in...the pain of sheer hopelessness can be indescribable. Opting out isn't giving up - don't ever think that - sometimes it's strong person who says, "OK, I've tried and tried, and now I've had enough..." Rest in peace, Bob.

Grew up watching this in the 70s. Was my favourite program as a young child in mid 70s. My Mum is working class from midlands and we used to watch this together! I never knew this actor suffered after the program ended. RIP. I’m 50 now and life is all too real ! Society in many ways has deteriorated and is vile.

I was 12 years old when the show was in black and white in 1969, loved the humour it and was my mother favourite show. Then I moved to Canada and became bored with comedy on TV so I ordered the complete set and never regretted. Great show. Jack Harper was so funny when he would chase the girls with Reg. Nice video of Jack. RIP Jack

Thank you so much for this upload, I have always thought Bob grant was over looked and definitely underrated as a actor , comedian he was my favourite character of on the buses with his quick whips. He unfortunately couldn't secure another substantial role which was a travesty . I watch on the buses regularly, it was a reflection of the working classes at the time and the struggles with management and hierarchy, with strong unions that are so sadly lacking today after Thatcher's treachery.

Bob grant one of my fav actors,he’d ran into hiding once as he thought nobody cared about him and depression kicked in,his famous friends pleaded with him to return hom to this he did, find in the streets kept asking him where’s jack and this lead him into depression again cuz he thought he couldn’t get more work in 2003 he sat in his car in his garage one day put the car hose in and committed suicide carbon monoxide poison, sad way to go. Rest in peace jack sadly missed by your family andcfans
