I could be wrong, I’m a dog trainer not a horse trainer, but I noticed that the mouthing behaviors started when no one was touching him and stopped (he began to engage in self soothing behaviors like eating hay) when he was being pet along his neck or even just touched on his haunch.
I think this horse is craving touch. Grooming time before letting him out and after might help him calm down and build more calm associations in your presence.
Enrichment toys might also really benefit him. You can try interactive hay feeders / food puzzles to give him appropriate outlets for his mouthing behaviors/keep his mouth busy.

Well noticed and well said. It also specifically caught my attention. When Jesse touches him and gives attention he seems "grounded", safe and seen. The mouthering behaviour clearly starts when the touching stops, and the intense search for soothing himself goes on.
You are such a truly kind, empathetic and unbelievable pure person, Jesse. The way your energy soothes and connects with horses is noticeable in each and every way. And Gaio has a truly special bond with you ❤️

Dog rescue/foster/trainer here, too - I noticed that, too! He's chased bulls his entire life - maybe a large Jolly Ball in the paddock to chase. I also thing the three-legged issue is related to the scars on his body. 🤔 His belly issues may be related not only to stress but also his still eating straw. He may benefit from pellets instead until his probiotics settle to the new diets. He was pushed around in his former career a lot and may have some long-term muscle aches that could be helped with heat and massage/chiropractic.

He needs toys to play with. He is very mouthy. I had a horse once like that and he loved his toys. His favorite was a rubber jolly ball. Not the hard ones they make now. He would ruin them, but that was okay as he enjoyed playing with it. Those are hard to find these days, but may be available in the UK. They also make a pacifier that has rollers to lip while in his stall. He has an active brain and this might help with anxiety or boredom.

So cool. Neat that she mentioned how animals can telepathically connect with their humans. I had to take a trip recently and while gone I had a dream that one of my cats was thirsty. I called home and my daughter said the kitty water fountain was empty (they have multiple water sources, but this is a favorite). And my husband said that no one had showered that day, so there was no residual water in the tub. The kitty I dreamt of loves to drink out of the bath. I was over 1,000 miles away. Animals are amazing. Great content, Jesse!

What an interesting personality Gaio has. Clearly extremely resilient mentally and physically. I think he probably has PTSD from facing near death encounters with bulls, but as Simone says, this will unwind over time and he doesn't want to be pitied or treated with kid gloves. Jesse will bring his sweetness out and Gaio will open Jesse's heart. I look forward to the continued companionship of this pair.

This video with Gaio and Symone was so good. What struck me most was when Gaio said “you should soften up and open your heart to another horse; if you open your heart to him, he will open his heart to you so you can heal and help each other.” That may be challenging because of the deep love you feel for Andorra and also how hard it was for you when you lost touch with Carino. I think you feel love on a deeper level than most people; this can be scary that it will be difficult later when you experience a loss, but you will also have the deeper memories of the love you held and that will help you through the hard times. You will never need to second guess yourself that you gave Andorra, and all your animals, the very best of your love and care which in turn gave them the very best in life. You are an exceptional soul and the animals and special people in your life are very lucky to have you.

💯. When I learned about what is done to the bulls before the “fighting” I was beside myself. I still get the same way when I think about it. It’s shocking that anyone still thinks this is a sport and that it continues. I think it’s about money because knowing what I know, it shouldn’t be about pride in being the bullfighter. It’s just a show of torturing the bull. As big as the animal is, the things they do to the bull before he goes into the so called fight make it nearly impossible for the bull.
Trigger warning, They put petroleum jelly in their eyes, they put wet newspaper wadded up inside their ears and they insert a sharp blade into their genitalia to continue to injure them every time they move. Which makes them go wild in pain. They can’t see or hear while they’re fighting. If you can call it fighting. All for entertainment. You’ve gotta be a special kinda cruel to want to watch this.
We should have evolved enough to not use animals for entertainment in this way. It’s beyond cruel and should be outlawed.

I can understand how and why you are skeptical of people who communicate with animals. If you haven't experienced this it is for most people unbelievable. But you are obviously an animal lover or you wouldn't even be spending time to watch this. If you have developed a close connection to any animal perhaps you have felt something special - a communication level beyond the more obvious. Our dogs and horses can sense our moods, our fear, sadness and happiness. This is pretty low level connection, not exceptional. Perhaps you have noticed how "difficult" dogs and horses respond very differently to different people. It's because some people can relate to animals in more nuanced sensitive ways. If you have a halfway reasonable mind this can be learned. It takes an awareness of the individual situation. Some people are capable of developing a closer level with one or two of our animals but not all of them or not all the time. That's me. And some very rare people are able to reach very deep levels with many animals. I have witnessed this many times with an amazing animal communicator. Twice I helped skeptical friends with their deeply traumatized dogs by having her "talk" to them. The first one was the very first time I had ever tried it out but I was curious enough to offer to pay for the session, so my friend relented. What followed blew both our minds! We gave her no information and the dog told her in great detail what had happened. Then he gave her details of a telephone conversation he overheard that had taken place a few hours earlier at home. A call that my friend had said nothing to me about. It made believers of us both. Several years later another one of my friends had a really traumatizing situation with a puppy she had gotten back. We happened to be on a showground when I heard a distinctive laugh and saw this communicator talking to someone. Again I offered my very skeptical friend the possibility of finding the truth to her problem and she let me take her out to her setup at her van to talk to the puppy. We gave her no information. The puppy told her what had happened and it made sense. Then the communicator gave a little laugh and pointed to another dog resting on her bed, the puppy's grandmother . She is funny and she says today is her birthday. It was..She got a special toy that morning from my friend's mother shaped like a birthday cake with candles. She wasn't allowed to bring it to the show because it might get dirty or lost. At this my friend's mouth was hanging open she was in such shock. For my part I have used her to consult on health issues. I am very observant and proactive with my dogs. Sometimes something is off but I can't put my finger on it. So I have them talk to her and she can pinpoint where the problem is before I go to vet. She has saved me a bundle on diagnostic tests as we go right for the problem. 100% accuracy. Sorry this is so long but if it helps one human help one animal it was worth the effort. ❤

I too wondered if he had once grabbed a hot wire with his mouth. All that mouthing was driving me crazy...but then I realized that I was fidgeting with my finger on chapped lip the whole video, and I wondered how much I drive people crazy in meetings with my fidgeting with pen caps or pencil twirling. Some label it a sign of inattention, which baffles me because I do it more when I'm engaged, and I was EXTREMELY interested in this video. I think it's just how some of us process whatever we're facing. Bless you, Jesse, for your patience with it.

Gaio has lived a traumatic past, but he accepts the facts and has done what he was trained to do. It's so terrible to hear that! 😪
Luckily he met Jesse, a sensitive young man who wanted to understand and help him. Gaio realised that he could have confidence and receive attention and love. He's really enjoying his life now - it's heaven. His activities with Jesse have created a strong bond between them, and Gaio's dream is to share the daily life of other buddies at Matt and Jesse's property...
Thank you to Symone and Jesse for this great and hopeful video 💙

In my many years, I have had 5 animals speak to me. It has always been such a surprise and to be honest, I generally have burst into tears when it happened. When my eldest son was 4 years old, our cat told my son that he had eaten a poison mouse. We rushed our cat to the vet, where he died from the poison. Always very serious business for us with animals.

Bullfighting is a slow ,painful, and tragic death . No animal wants to see that or to feel like they are made to perpetrate it. Animals are such magnificent and sentient beings. They obey us even when their hearts want no part of our antics. I'm so happy for him . With time his heart will meld with Jessie . That's all he's wanted , love, peace, and safety. ❤

We learn lots about you Jesse as well as Gaio ❤️❤️ You have an empathetic soul and animals know instinctively that they can trust you.. Gaio said as much. He also said that there is always more room in the heart and this is so true.. Andorra is secure in her place as your Queen and there's still lots of room to love each horse for themselves. The world isn't an easy place for any of us but it can be especially difficult for sensitive souls such as yours.. know that although the world doesn't deserve you it's a kinder place for all the lives you touch because you're here.. Gaio agrees ❤️

The reading for the earlier horse was terrific because he was able to express that he can't make the owner's dreams come true. Such huge expectations placed on horses without the owners/handlers being aware of the horse's needs. Peace, love and kindness to all horses.

I loved this video - I saw the belly scars today and I wonder if he could have some discomfort due to scar tissue buildup. I know that Gaio has growing to do, but so do you, Jesse. You can love more than one horse - you will never forget a single one, and your first love will always be Ani. You can still connect deeply with other horses, and come to love them. Your heart is a muscle and can literally stretch to hold everything you allow in. Gaio wants to be in your heart too, so relax that heart muscle a bit - keep on using your amazing intuition, but don't be afraid to lean on him a little - I think he would like that very much.

Never leave that horse and let him know every day you will keep him safe and love him. Listen to him and he will listen to you. Thank God you are open and trying to be flexible for him and all of your horses. He will love learning new things and being challenged. I look forward to new videos with Giao at an event doing tricks and showing people how to open and close gates safely while on a horse. In the USA there is Western Horseman Classes where you have to get mail out of a box, open and walk through a gate then close that gate without ever moving your hand off of that swinging gate. All of this on a very loose rein.

Here in the U.S. there is this wonderful Chiropractor and he adjusts all animals
especially horses and I would just bet that Gaio would really benefit from some
adjustments. You would be amazed and then when there adjusted they sometimes
shake and stick their tongue out and smack their lips. It's incredible how great
they feel after an adjustment. Also then the chiropractor would adjust the
human sometimes. This is a very informative video and thank you for sharing.

Such a special and beautiful soul that horse has.. And Jesse you can really love multiple horses on a deep level at the same time without taking away the meaning or "uniqueness" of that love you share with one of them. Andorra is a totally different horse with a very different personality and soul than this handsome boy. What you have with her is so special that only a few people will experience that in their lifetime.. You are extremely blessed that you might have the opportunity to experience that kind of bond twice in your life.. Don't shut that down or block that off because I truly believe that the more you experience that kind of special connection, bond and love you will grow from it and will become abel to give it back to them. Because of the growth you experienced with Andorra you are able to connect with Gaio at this level.. It will work the same way the other way around.. By letting Gaio in you will be able to share the benefits of that with Andorra again. It's a never ending cycle.. You will definitely not be selling Andorra short or have to feel guilty..

Gaio must be a very strong, brave and intelligent horse that has had to deal with more stress than usual. It's like he has been to war I guess. He is strong so he hides his softness and fragility. He must have a great personality to still be so kind after everything he has seen and been through. He reminds of he kind of person that hides their feelings to look strong. Gaio might relax a lot out in a field with a buddy, just be a horse for a while, not a warrior.
