Good Video, I have a MiniMath Linker - like a Hague. mine is hand cranked. I like my circular one as no limit to length of seam ;) I just keep going, great for seaming blankets etc. but works kind of the same way, right sides together, 1 stitch per pin and turn handle to chain stitch them
sad part is that you can't get the parts anymore, needles are the worse. hague ones won't work, I don't think, as I remember it being that the minimath linker had a latch type needle....mind you I tend to join on the machine most of the time :)
Oh that's too bad! I found a place selling needles for the Bellinky and figured I'd better get a whole bunch while I still can, just in case. I have heard the combs are impossible to find though. I should take a bunch of measurements and see if it could be reproduced by someone. Apparently there are a lot of people out there with the machine but no combs!
Looks like you have a rare and very functional unit there. Congrats. I have a Singer, circular linker but have yet to use it (I'm a beginning, machine knitter). I did manage to find a replacement needle for it ($30, I believe), but was told it may have been the last one. Thanks for sharing your Bellinky experience. I love these mechanical things!
Well I actually have a couple of blog posts about this very issue at heatherismakingstuff.com . Apparently the needles are becoming rare and hard to find, but I have a MacGyvered solution 😂
Anything up to about UK 4ply (around sock weight) seems to be ok, but fine or super fine work best in my experience. The trade off there is strength. I had a very thin wool yarn that worked great, but it was really easy to break with just pulling it. A thin acrylic though is still pretty strong. I have used something closer to a sport weight (a light DK if you're not familiar with North American terms) once, but it was hard to turn and had a tendency to split the yarn. That could be user error, but because there's no way to adjust the stitch size, you are limited to what works nicely with that size. Basically anything you could knit easily on a standard gauge knitting machine seems to be best.
I just received mine. It looked unused and came with everything, including spare needles. I can’t make it work. The yarn gets tangled around the looper. Tension nob is very tight. On the the loosest position, it is still an effort to pull the yarn. Not sure what is wrong. Should I try lace weight yarn? I was testing with fingering. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you
Definitely try a thinner yarn and see how that helps. Fingering weight seems to be the absolute max I can push it without issues. Then make triple sure you have it threaded correctly and have the needle facing the right way. I also find to pull yarn through a challenge, I need to lift up the tension disks if I need to pull a length through, so that sounds normal at least. Also when you first start, make sure to hold the thread tail taut. After a stitch or two you will see it moving along and you'll know it's not tangled. It can get bunched up right at the start sometimes. Hopefully something there gets you started, it's so handy when it's working well.
@@tatyana.mikina just to clarify it does just make a chain stitch, and it will only work with fabric - without fabric it will pull right out. So the looping may be normal. If you shoot me an email with some photos maybe I can help diagnose where it's going awry
@@heatherismakingstuff Hi Heather, I finally got it. After I switched to lace yarn, I didn’t use my swatch. It finally works now with the fabric on. I am so happy. Thank you so much. Your video is what inspired my search for this linker in the first place.
I don't think so nowadays, unfortunately most of them are missing the combs and they can't be used without them 😞. I am not sure if they were pricey when they were new either, but it's all solid metal and seems well-constructed.
The machine is cute. We got it today and it has grown to my heart!

Ah the endless seam would be a definite plus to the round kind!

Thank you, I'm enjoying it very much. I hope you get your singer up and running, they are very handy to have!
thanks so much! much appreciated
Thank you.
I also have a Bellinky linker, and only one Needle. Do you know where to buy Needles?

What's the largest size yarn you can use in a Bellinky? I'm having a hard time finding instruction booklets online

@@heatherismakingstuff Thank you, Heather, for a quick reply. I definitely will try. Thank you
Nothing worked. I even lubricated it. It doesn’t form stitches just loops around. I really wanted to like this tiny linker vs round ones.

He comprado una máquina y no tiene libro de instrucciones me podrías decir cómo se cambia la aguja en qué dirección se pone el piquito

Is this 🤔 an expensive piece of equipment?

if you steam and end with waste yarn , you can put it on the linker better, sad, that this machines are nonproduced
