Because Carnotaurus is "meat-eating bull" and "long" is a suffix that goes with almost all dinosaur (and other giant lizards) names in Chinese.

I think the reason so many of them are called dragons is because in some Asian languages, dinosaur literally translates to “terrifying/savage dragon”.

Ah, nothing like machine translating dinosaur names from Chinese to English and vice-versa, thus creating many strangely named dragons. It wouldn't be a problem if whoever did the advertisement knew anything about dinos but, oh well. Though a few of those seem totally fine as children's toys, with the walking and jumping. (Possible toxic painting notwithstanding)

Once I was in a toy shop in a shopping centre (bearing in mind I live in the UK, where dinosaur science began) and they had a section of cheap dinosaur toys that were even more awful than usual. The worst was a supposed "Stegosaurus" that had no back plates or tail spikes. It looked more like an overweight monitor lizard than any kind of dinosaur, let alone a Stegosaurus. They can't even get the famous ones right

Niu long is chinese for carnotaurus, it literally means cow/bull dragon
And the reason for swollen head dragon is because in chinese the word for dinosaur is dragon and they just traslate all the words in the name directly so you end up with a twisted version of the meaning of the english name.

Carnotourus in Chinese is called食肉牛龍 and 食肉means meat eating, and 牛means cow or bull, 龍means dragon or dinosaur, and 牛龍in Chinese suppose to be pronounced as niulong.....
