Considering GABA depletion in the brain the day after drinking is the cause of hangover anxiety, then GABA via injection should work because it would make it passed the gut. As a person who lives close to the world headquarters of A--B, I can tell you the ad slogan that lasted the shortest amount of time for A--B is "We don't sell beer. We sell friendship. " The company often tries out ad slogans in its home city before broadcasting them to the world. I don't think that one made it out of town.

Great video, thanks! I’ve noticed something that also happens a lot in the movies: a character will go on a massive bender, wake up in the morning, feel groggy for half an hour or so, then carry on their day completely normally as if the hangover has somehow magically disappeared...
Watched Disney jungle cruises last night, plainly a kids movie ,loaded with social messaging but has multiple positive alcohol references .it's so pervasive we don't even see what's happening
Yeah i didnt drink for like 15 days. Went over to my family and friends, they brought some booze. I said ill be ok just drink with them that night. Led to a 3 day relapse. I know i have a problem and i am personally excited to never drink again.
Last time I went binge drinking was October last year during lockdown. As soon as the pubs reopened I was straight down the pub. So that was 6 months without a beer which I must say I am quite proud of.
You can always tell an author who has a drinking problem. They'll casually insert alcohol into just about every off-plot situation they can. They probably don't even realize it.
i drank 10 alcohol free beers in 3 hours at a party my first get together since sobriety , was dead weird but ok. when ppl asked i said i had a surgery coming up(which is actually also true) so no one battered an eyelid. i only knew a few ppl there so it was a good test of my nerves. the 0% beers where my crutch - i just needed to put stuff in my mouth i think in social situations - but i drank them very fast. but i did it and also had fun
Placebo is real. Once I had a hop tea, and by assumed it was alcoholic beverage because of packaging, I felt buzzed and tipsy. After I closely looked at the can it said non-alcoholic. Placebo is a mind blowing and it's real.
This is the best video I´ve ever seen. I hope people understand that this is NOT ONLY FOR those who have a drinking problem. It has to be for every single person on earth. Just think about a world without alcohol and how many problems at every level can be automaticaly fixed.
Great videos my friend really been enjoying the reframing of stopping drinking as embracing a more exciting life as opposed to looking at it like giving up something . I've been a performing musician and singer for 15 years and alcohol has been such a big part of that. I have played two sober gigs in the last two weeks and couldn't believe I not only didn't need it but i actually enjoyed it more and was less stressed . My performance and energy levels were better too. Not only that i wasnt stressing about getting my next drink or how many i could have before driving or that mood dip you get when it wears off thanks again for the inspiration!
The weirdest and best thing about having stopped drinking is that my grey hairs returned to their original colour!!!!!!! I couldnt actually believe that, a good enough reason to quit for me!!!!! Xxx
Great video Leon, that successful person drinking that one drink always got be back on it. I'd get so pissed off that why I can't I just have one or two and go home. Really well explained.
Watched a ton of “give up drink videos “ prob best I’ve seen! & first from yourself . Planning in making tomorrow day 0 as I just like that date 10/10 hopefully how non drinking will make me feel . I’ve tried before and the falling points were :- Buying into the health studies . I think possibly the only way it’s beneficial if a doctor actually prescribed you alcohol in a dosage but outwith that not buying into the claims The other is the person who just had the two drinks . After what you said about the marketing I don’t want to be duped into even feeling I have to have one drink . Fantastic video mate 👏 👏 👏
I've known subconsciously for years that alcohol was poison. I've felt it first hand many times, throwing up yellow bile in the shower knowing I was supposed to be at work an hour ago and not remembering anything from the night before. I drank a bottle of vodka last Saturday and spent my entire Sunday hungover, and while laying in bed I had such a profound feeling of missing out. I drank so long for fear of missing out, and now I miss out on the most important things because I drink. For years I would just start drinking again, at 6, 7, 8 in the morning to stave off the hangover. I let myself feel it completely this time. I've tried to stop before through willpower and never could. I woke up today and something is different. I've been watching your vids all day and finally realize it's been how I think about it all along. I can finally do this, and I'm excited about it. It always felt like an impossible obstacle to overcome. Now I feel like I might have a second chance to live fully.
Medically speaking alcohol is a hard drug, it is also classified in the highest category of cancer creating substances (along with asbestos !). Check out the US statistics on murders, family violence, violence towards police officers and traffic deaths : in 40 to 50% of the cases alcohol is involved. Good channel, spread the word.
Great job love these youtube I coming up this February 6 2021 11 months alcohol free you and your mother expire me to take it one day at a time stay strong you and your mother I never felt better and free 😊
Goes way deeper than this but solid video. There is a type of cognitive bias that we like what we're familiar with/ see more often. Applies with people, products, locations, things, etc. Otherwise why would car insurance companies, beer companies, etc. constantly advertise? Even when you say "meh that commercial did nothing" it actually hits where it matters- the unconscious mind. Also very messed up that society says we should drink when happy as well as sad. Obviously as video said, alcohol is poison (yeast poo), wouldn't drink it in a lab if just saw the side effects but put it in a fancy bottle & acceptable social setting or quiet space at home- go crazy lol. Obviously think everyone has their phases with alcohol- think need it to open up/ enjoy life/ relax, etc. buying into that. Of course a myth. But especially when feeling sick of life- that's when you should MOST Avoid this toxic s**t. Because we feel "f--- life, f--- girls/ guys, etc." and maybe even unconsciously feel if we screw up enough/ drink enough we'll come to automatically realize we fudged up and time to clean up, no. Alcohol doesn't fill voids, it widens and creates further voids. We aren't feeling "screw life" as much as "screw my current situation"- since we wouldn't be upset if things were going our way as we feel we "deserve" to have it. Yep
Like I was abused by alcoholics for 20 years I absolutely do not want to drink, but I was quickly entangled with other substances that I bonded to instead of my family and it's the exact same in addiction.
Great video 61 years old heavy drinker for decades. Quit 3.5 years ago all your points are spot on. Don't miss it one bit & feel sooo much healthier now. Thank you
Same here. At age 40 I started getting bad anxiety and panic attacks the day after drinking. I had to give up my once a week 5 cocktail buzz night. I was fortunate because I wasn’t a habitual drinker so it was relatively easy to just stop on my own. Sometimes I still want to put on a buzz, but I just think about the day after anxiety attacks and that keeps me off alcohol. I do miss a fine red wine with a nice steak though. Some people don’t get negative mental effects that bad the day after drinking. I get foggy so had to stop. It wasn’t worth one night of fun anymore.
Same boat here. I would drink my bottle of good wine on my Friday (which is actually a Sunday) and feel like shit the next day and maybe a little lazy the following day. Fuck! I just blew my whole weekend. For what? A few hours with a tune on? Kicked that shit. Even once a week was too much. 20 years ago I could drink that every night and rock out the next day. Age is a great leveler.
@@techguy3373 Damn, brother. That is hard. I was never a meeting guy but maybe that will help. I might even advise smoking some grass to get you past four or five weeks. I usually don´t even want to drink after that long.
Talking about drinking and sporting events, at the FIFA world Cup some British realized that soccer was fucking dull without alcohol. So it was eye opening for them 😉😁
Your videos helped me to change the way I look at drinking. Now I view it as a poison that adds nothing of value to my life and only takes away the things that I love. Once I viewed quitting as something positive and not a painful chore, it became easier. Now I do things sober and enjoy it! I take the time to reflect and be grateful for my life! One thing that really helped me was dark chocolate- the nasty 90% coco kind- this helped lessen the explosion in my brain from withdrawals. I still use it now and then when I get craving. Thanks again Leon!
19 days sober..Totally buzzing...Miss the social side though and my drinking friends. Cant do hangovers/ comedowns anymore though and wasted money, underachieving etc...
well presented, well done! A small addition if I may: regarding your point 4, one could also add that the "normal drinker" we *think* we're seeing and potentially "buying into" could actually be a "hidden non-normal drinker". In other words, when "smart non-normals" are in the company of someone who might judge them, they can rein in their impulse to drink too much for that evening. How many "non-normals" are out there posing as "normals"? There's a sad irony in this: it would be better if the non-normals actually showed themselves as such, so that their plight is noticed and brought into the open and their friends would be able to help them to quit. At the same time, their friends would also be dissuaded from sliding in the same direction as opposed to falling for the "normal drinker" stereotype which, let's face it, is probably much rarer than we all think it is.
@@ThePossumone Thanks. It was amazing for me ...I just lost the desire all the sudden. ...and it wasn't a white knuckle, struggle with willpower kind of thing... I just didn't desire it anymore. Now, occasionally i have a kombucha... That actually has too much alcohol for my preference. 👍
Im a beer lover and I mean legit lover, as in it's my favorite flavored beverage in the whole world. I love the history and the Artistry that goes into crafting it, and I love the variety of flavors and smells. I really do wish all beer was non-alcoholic, instead of the entire industry being set up to poison us. Thankfully there are a lot of non-alcoholic Alternatives nowadays, though they aren't as cheap. Seems the trend in America is anything cheap and easily attainable is bad for you, and anything that might be healthier, is more expensive and harder to find.
Sober Leon your so right.Hearing you talk about the commercials reminds me of this really pathetic commercial where somebody is getting alcohol poured into their glass and you can hear sound it’s making and it seems nice and relaxing.I hate the idea of alcohol being used to unwind from a hard days work or any of that other garbage and that’s why alcohol companies are evil, they glamourize alcohol and drinking.Good for you for not drinking and buying into the adds that alcohol uses to target people!
I think what makes it hard for some people and even impossible- when they dont value their lives. If they dont have much consideration for their lives, or much desire to live, it takes more. My dad died of alcoholism at 40 years old and my brother (only sibling/army vet) chose alcohol over diabetes and died at 29 last year. My mom is doing the same now. Drinking to drown her grief. This program is spectacular but for those who cant find self worth it probably will take therapy to realize that life is worth living. 😇 once theres a desire to actually live, this program sounds fantastic. And your videos have helped me! I watch them to keep myself healthy and on track in life. Thank you.
I already don't miss feeling like crap in the morning ... only been one week plus. The Chamomile tea seems to be doing the trick ... so far. I never drank in front of people so that one should be easier for me.
Thank you for spreading this important message ❤️ Drinking with partying is still considered way too trendy and normal, even though I keep hearing that fewer young people are drinking nowadays. I think they just lie more in the tests.. idk
Sometimes you need a quick fix. If your bike tire goes flat sometimes you patch it before you get a new tube. Sometimes you need that drink before you can formulate a plan to solve the actual problem. .
I would really like to be this man's friend he's smart I've had my battles and down spirals with alcohol and I'm working on quitting I don't want that alcohol no more .
These are all excellent points. I think one helpful analogy is looking at cigarettes as a non-smoker (I've never smoked, I find tobacco disgusting, and I've always known it's a poison with no benefits whatsoever). When you look at cigarette ads or watch people smoking in movies, it's obvious that the behavior is idiotic - even if it does look sort of "cool," simply because we're conditioned to seeing such scenes. While cigarette ads can be esthetically appeallng, I've never felt the desire to light up, simply because I know what the product really is. If you start looking at alcohol the same way, i.e. as a fundamentally toxic and thoroughly useless substance, you'll no longer be taken in by it.

This is me, no desire.. it’s like I’ve brainwashed myself into not even wanting it. Was a social drinker from 15 to 41.
i just caved into alcohol after a year of no drinking, feel like crap now. Good though videos like these exist.
Just forgive yourself and be teetotal again, now for 2 years instead
Hugs stay strong ..
You did amazing not to drink for a year don't beat self up just get back to where you were
Great video, thanks! I’ve noticed something that also happens a lot in the movies: a character will go on a massive bender, wake up in the morning, feel groggy for half an hour or so, then carry on their day completely normally as if the hangover has somehow magically disappeared...
So true
we see our parents using this drug from a very young age ,first time I got drunk I was 12 ,its caused me a shit load of grief through my life
Watched Disney jungle cruises last night, plainly a kids movie ,loaded with social messaging but has multiple positive alcohol references .it's so pervasive we don't even see what's happening
You told the whole real truth about alcohol.
Exactly 👍
This guy has a very smooth way to shove the truth down one's throat.
Lol! 😂🙏
Yeah i didnt drink for like 15 days. Went over to my family and friends, they brought some booze. I said ill be ok just drink with them that night. Led to a 3 day relapse. I know i have a problem and i am personally excited to never drink again.
Many women drink to fend off abusive men. After a verbal bashing, a drink is the only relief.
Yes, and then they yell at them for drinking -as though enjoyment or relief of any kind is a threat to them. It’s evil.
I get that!!!
@@groominator-magneticequato2529 yup so psychotic
leave the relationship!
Thank you for this video! It was very clear and motivating for my sober journey!
Last time I went binge drinking was October last year during lockdown. As soon as the pubs reopened I was straight down the pub. So that was 6 months without a beer which I must say I am quite proud of.
This is probably the most important video I've watched in my entire life. Thanks man I really appreciate you for sharing this video.
You can always tell an author who has a drinking problem. They'll casually insert alcohol into just about every off-plot situation they can. They probably don't even realize it.

22 years of drinking. Looks like am gonna quite for good after listening to half this content.
Leon, you really have solved the riddle..thank you.
Brilliant. Thanks Leon, this has really helped me!
Me too really helped me
Great video. Very clear and concise well done Leon.
i drank 10 alcohol free beers in 3 hours at a party my first get together since sobriety , was dead weird but ok. when ppl asked i said i had a surgery coming up(which is actually also true) so no one battered an eyelid. i only knew a few ppl there so it was a good test of my nerves. the 0% beers where my crutch - i just needed to put stuff in my mouth i think in social situations - but i drank them very fast. but i did it and also had fun
Thanks for sharing Daniel!
It's been scientifically proven you can get a buzz out of these too..Believe it or not..
@@NB-sq7ui it’s placebo tho
I’ve tried before and the falling points were :-
Buying into the health studies . I think possibly the only way it’s beneficial if a doctor actually prescribed you alcohol in a dosage but outwith that not buying into the claims
The other is the person who just had the two drinks . After what you said about the marketing I don’t want to be duped into even feeling I have to have one drink . Fantastic video mate 👏 👏 👏
Craig Muirhead thanks a tonne Craig 👍 good to have you here.
Sober Leon cheers will catch up on the rest 👍
Congratulations Keep trying to improve yourself mentally and physically
I hope you’re doing better bro. You can do it
Medically speaking alcohol is a hard drug, it is also classified in the highest category of cancer creating substances (along with asbestos !).
Forgive my writing I am so excited 😊
That's great! how many months/years sober now?
As m drinking Alcohol m watching this .. love your accent and m trying to get sober too
Goes way deeper than this but solid video.
Yep
I feel so much better when I do not drink. Sometimes I do drink but then I feel not so great so I only drink every so often.
Like I was abused by alcoholics for 20 years I absolutely do not want to drink, but I was quickly entangled with other substances that I bonded to instead of my family and it's the exact same in addiction.
So I just want to get there on all these things
I'm really glad I watched this. Keep up the good work Leon!
Great video
61 years old heavy drinker for decades. Quit 3.5 years ago all your points are spot on. Don't miss it one bit & feel sooo much healthier now.
Thank you
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it 👍
👊🏻👊🏻
Same boat here. I would drink my bottle of good wine on my Friday (which is actually a Sunday) and feel like shit the next day and maybe a little lazy the following day. Fuck! I just blew my whole weekend. For what? A few hours with a tune on?
Kicked that shit. Even once a week was too much.
20 years ago I could drink that every night and rock out the next day. Age is a great leveler.
@@ananda_miaoyin Yea. Not even a hangover. More like in a cloud and anxiety.
It cripples me for 3 days after, then dry for several day and damn if I do it again. I’ve got to stop, but after 6 days I break again. Over and over.
@@techguy3373 Damn, brother. That is hard. I was never a meeting guy but maybe that will help. I might even advise smoking some grass to get you past four or five weeks. I usually don´t even want to drink after that long.
Thank you
You helped save my life!
Thanks again Leon!
people like you and Allen Carr will eventualy solve the problem for all of us
great content, very insightful, thanks for sharing mate
Alcohol is the "only" substance that one needs to make excuses for not consuming.
Hi Leo,after I watching your RUclips Vedio.i stop drinking for one year now.i will not drink again in my life .thanks s
Well done!
After watching the above video you quit? I dont get it
Awesome my brother 👍
You are such a good guy
19 days sober..Totally buzzing...Miss the social side though and my drinking friends. Cant do hangovers/ comedowns anymore though and wasted money, underachieving etc...
Who said you can't have a social life?
@@LeonSylvester it's impossible to enjoy being around drinking people when you are sober.
well presented, well done!
Excellent point!
Thanks from the Netherlands!!!!
SOBER LEON IS GOOD AT HIS JOB.
LISTEN TO HIM.
Thanks Alan!
Great stuff Leon, good to recap on all this.....
Good to hear man! Check your email Rob 👍
I don't want to drink either, I don't have the desire. I haven't drunk since '07. Before that I was drinking every day. 👍
Nice!
Well done
@@LeonSylvester Thanks.
THANKYOU FOR SHARING, I ALSO STOP ALCOHOL COMPLETELY. SENDING LOVE FROM INDONESIA :))
I have been thinking these exact thoughts for years, good to hear you put it out there.
Great video! Item 4 is usually missed, but very important. Really nice job.
Don't worry about the language everyone on here has used it before
Love your channel. Can you do a video discussing how to deal with temptations while on vacation?
Great video!
Good stuff!
Exactly get on board man
These are all excellent points.
When the haze is lifted, and you see clearly...
great video!
Glad you enjoyed it🙌
I'm cold turkeying some unspecified drugs here and these videos help a ton man
I've been doing a lot of research recently on alcohol and getting sober, your channel on youtube is the only one I agree with so far :)
Thanks a lot!
I'm on ten days. Got arrested because of it ultimately. Never want that again
