People always ask why I held onto a dead genre but they had no idea that it was ever growing and changing thank you for treating this beautiful piece as if it was ur own and giving it more life than before man
I am no musician. Listening carefully, I get a glimpse of how useless orders like 'genre' must feel to you anyway. I would call it intellects and souls 'lifeline' ❤ from Germany.
Started off with this on my phone. 7 seconds in had to stop and go play this through the good speakers. One of the finest examples of how the alto saxophone is supposed to be played I have seen, probably ever. Congratulations to all involved. Thank you.
Fellas, you took me back to the fall of 1959... I was born in 2000. The harmonies and the changes on the final solo were very beautiful, the warmth of the tone as well.
Ok, these are my two alto sax interpretations of standard ballads so far this century: -Kevin Oliver, Jr - Isfahan -Perico Sambeat - I cover the waterfront
The tone of the alto sax is just super round, warm and mellow. Immaculate!
@@stanleyhoh3309 thank you!

The Great London Concerts was one of my most played CDs in college
so good
I love how you pay homage to Johnny Hodges without it being straight imitation. Also hearing some gorgeous stuff reminiscent of JoeHen in there.
Joe Henderson and Johnny Hodges are the embodiment of mastery I am forever indebted to them
I hear some Desmond too. Probably I'm wrong, tho
Beautiful sound, touch, and dynamics.
thank you so much
Stunningly beautiful!

The work has the subtle spirit of Billy Strayhorn.
1:19 Watch the leg of the piano player. My man was DYING to play.

I fucking hate cadenzas with a passion... right up till now. Most beautiful alto sound i have heard in a very long time
wow 😂 what a compliment you had me at first I’m ngl
cadenzas are often boring and emotionless that's why most of them are just tools for the musician to show off lol. but his was beautiful
I was thinking a few days ago if someone would bring back Hodges’ alto sound concept back in to our attention and here it is. Beautiful stuff!
🔥

do u have the sheet music if u can give it to me please via email, thank you!
kevin!! this is gorgeously good!!! side note, where are your glasses from?
thank you!! my glasses are from Zenni!!
Does anyone know why its named isfahan ?
Isfahan is a city in Iran I believe, where Ellington stopped over in his worldwide jazz tours 🌍
The pianist is doing too much. He’s not leaving enough room for the sax
Art Tatum was like that too 😂
Beautiful tune. However, it was written by Billy Strayhorn, not Duke Ellington.
